Mountain dew. Along with large portions of everything and fast food. It's a wonder I didn't weigh more than I did. (Especially with the 800-1100 calories of Mountain dew everyday!)

Wow! You look great! Keep up the great work!

Exercise is a wonderful stress reliever. I haven't lost a child, but I lost a fiance in a car accident many years ago. Not the same thing, but a still a serious loss. I found a bereavement group that I tried a few times.

I had also wondered. Everything I've read said strength training before cardio, but when I'm at the gym I'm usually the only one strength training first. I was starting to doubt myself. Although I suppose they might see their cardio machines open and want to grab it while it's open

Count me in!

I found it 2 1/2 months ago when I was looking for an app for my phone. I love it!!!! Just what I needed to get interested in fitness and weight loss. Starting to feel like I did when I was 20 and working out at the gym for 2 or 3 hours a day, 4 days a week. Best wishes on your journey! Oh yeah, I have told probably 20…

Wow! I can't believe I'm in the top 5 of challenge. The scale has been pretty much the same the last couple of weeks. Hoping it will start the downward trend again soon...

My scale has stayed pretty much the same for the past month. Although I have lost inches, and I can see and feel more definition in my arms, legs and belly. It's just a matter of time before the scale begins the downward trend again. Good luck!

If you have bouts of depression I definitely would not weigh in everyday. Once a week would be fine. Weighing in everyday can deter many people because of the natural fluctuations in the numbers. I also wouldn't get too caught up on the number on the scale. Be sure to take measurements, and compare those numbers about once…

Welcome. I joined in March. Love the site and all the support and information here. I'm sure you can do it! Good luck!

Focus on something other than the scale for awhile. I know my scale hasn't been moving much lately, but I can definitely see a difference in the way my clothes fit and my measurements. I have been stuck between 165 and167 for about a month, but I can see and feel more definition in my legs, arms, a flatter belly and my…

I pretty much went cold turkey with Mountain Dew. I was drinking 5-7 cans a day before I started MFP. Now I might have 3 or 4 a week. I just set my mind to drink water instead. And I feel 100 times better than I did before. Although I still like the taste of mountain dew, it isn't controlling my actions. (And all that…

Mine was 165.2 this week.

Since you started a new workout plan it may take a couple of weeks for you to see a change in the scale. I would take measurements. Most likely you are losing fat, but gaining muscle. The muscle takes up less space per pound, which is why your clothes may begin feeling loose and you may see a change in measurements. Keep…

I agree. I would love to have a handwritten note telling me that I am appreciated and loved. Although a day shopping and a trip to the spa would be nice also.

Maybe now would be the best time to talk to your parents. Please let your parents and doctor know what is going on so they can help you. Eating disorders are very serious. Get help for it as soon as you can.

Tomorrow is a new day. I have days where I am really hungry and have surpassed my calories for the day. It doesn't happen often and may be because of my exercise. I had about 3 days that I tried desperately to stay within my calorie range but still felt like I was starving. On the 3rd day I just couldn't take it and went…

I try to zig zag calories and switch up my exercise routine when I hit a plateau. I want to keep my body guessing, I also try to drink more water in case it is water retention. The main thing is to stay the course and look for any of the NSV that you can find, because with measurements changing and clothes fitting better…

Forgot to check in this week. Mondays weight was 165.2

Sounds like a great plan. I'm going to reevaluate as I get closer to my goal because I am more concerned with healthy weight than a number on the scale
-
All depends on your frame. I am 5'1 and would be very underweight at that weight. I have a large frame. I've set my goal on the high side of the range for my weight because of my frame and my age. I also think it's important to consider the tone of your body as well. Muscle takes up less space pound for pound than fat. I…

I have never been a runner. Have tried several times. This time is different. I have been doing the jog/walk also. I have seen a few training programs for 5k's. They each seem to have some recommendation of walk/run. The one I saw from the Mayo clinic emphasized the rest day in between. I have been doing it for several…

Some type of cardio exercise often helps with the low energy. At first I really had to push myself to get started with the exercise, but I feel incredible after I get started. Also the sweets can bring your energy level down. Once you start exercising you may not crave the sweets as much. Good luck!!

Never heard that before, but I guess I do. LOL Usually I get the shower after my husband and 2 boys, so there is normally lukewarm water to start my shower and ice cold by the time I finish rinsing.

Fit and toned, but not a bodybuilder type.

I totally agree. Sometimes your body needs to rest and sounds like you may have been exhausted and just not focused. Take a day or two to rest and I bet you will find your focus again. Best wishes!

What type of workout? Normally I think it is best to alternate cardio days with strength training days. But I try to do some cardio everyday - with an occassional rest day.
