  • I seem to lose in waves. For the first 6 weeks or so I lost fairly quickly, then it seems like it is one plateau after another with a minor loss in between them. If you haven't already take measurements - waist, thigh, hips, chest. When the scale isn't moving often the measurements will be dropping. If you are staying…
  • What do you have your goal set to? I would think if you only have 10 to lose you should set it to 1/2 lb per week, which probably would give you around 1500 calories before your exercise calories. And yes you can eat your exercise calories, MFP is designed so you eat your exercise calories. Some people are adamant about…
  • I know some people watch those numbers daily. Personally I track carbs, protein, fat, sodium and fiber. Although I dont like seeing any of them in the red, I only really care about calories. And as far as that goes - most days I'm under, some days over. It all evens out in the end. I really try not to stress over it, and…
  • Bump. I'm interested in recommendations also. I'm in Ohio.
  • I try to post a quote of the day each day for motivation and inspiration. Feel free to send me a request...
  • I eat 3 meals and 3 snacks, although the snacks are sometimes the same number of calories. Also if I get enough water, I dont seem to want to eat as often. I do chew on sugar-free gum throughout the day. Whether you have your food diary private or not, make sure you are honest with yourself. If it helps you to stay honest…
  • From 14 to 10 was really quick. One day at work I realized I was hiking my pants all day - went out and got 12's. Three weeks later I was in 10/11's. I don't do situps or crunches, but I do use an ab machine at the gym. You'll be there before you know it if your 14's are loose now.
  • Good for you! Keep up the great work! I know what you mean about not noticing it in yourself. You and your co-workers see it everyday and it doesn't look like much. As for me I have had a couple of wow moments - one was as I was walking past a mirror in the locker room and noticed that I was so much smaller than before,…
  • Slow and steady.... As for NSV's - I keep noticing the muscles in my biceps - and recently saw a picture from the 4th of July weekend and had to look at the picture more than once- like wow, didn't realize I've lost that much. Not to mention waking up that weekend realizing that I didn't have any jeans that fit and I…
  • Yes, sodium can get too low especially if you are exercising and sweating. I've never been one to salt my food, and have always bought low sodium items when possible. At my last doctor visit I was told to increase my sodium.
  • I'd be happy if 90% of what I have left to lose comes from there. Unfortunately when I gain that is the first place it goes, when I lose, it never wants to come off. 42DD. Would love to drop to at least a C, but haven't been that small since elementary school or jr. high. Dont really think it is realistic.
  • 160 today
  • July 18th measurements: Waist..... 34 Hip....... 38 Breast ...41.5 Thigh......22 each Bicep.......12 each
  • Congrats! Such a wonderful feeling isn't it. I finally got into the overweight category a few days ago myself. Keep up the great work!
  • Congrats! How long till the wedding?
  • I don't have a heart rate monitor. I use MFP's calorie estimate and eat my exercise calories most of the time. Lost 25 lbs in 4 months. I have 20 more to go.
  • I would suggest talking to your doctor about what type of exercise you could do. I dont know anything about COPD, but I know that since I began working out in March my asthma has drastically improved. I started slow and felt like I couldn't do much, now I barely have any trouble. But please consult with your doctor about…

  • I have found that when the scale refuses to move, the inches fall off quickly. Then once the scale starts moving again the measurements don't really move. I love seeing the scale move, but I would much rather lose the inches. (That's what people notice anyway.) For me it seems that for about 6 wks its the scale moving,…
  • This week's measurements Waist 34.5 Hip 38 Breast 41.5 Thigh 22 each Bicep 12.25 each
  • 160.6 today
  • 5'1" skipped from 14 to 10 at 160. Although my weight is always carried on my top half. (Still in an 18 or lg top). I've been doing a lot of strength training which is why I lost 2 sizes so fast. (I think)
  • I have set my goal at the high end of the healthy range for my height. I'm 5'1". I will re-evaluate when I get closer to my goal. I'm 42 with a large frame. The high end of the range would put me at about the weight I was in high school.
  • I think it is a natural response to be self consious about others seeing you at the gym, but honestly they are most likely so focused on their own workouts that they barely notice others. If anything they would probably be encouraging to you. It's often helpful for motivation to have a membership. (I feel guilty paying for…
  • Not true for me. I just buy low sodium everything. I don't cook all meals from scratch, I do eat processed foods, but sodium levels are low anyway.
  • Definitely talk to your doctor. I was in for my yearly checkup and bloodwork - that's when she told me my soduum was low. Some of the foods I noticed in your food diary are already notoriously high in sodium. Ham and bacon are very high. You can also add a couple more nutrients to track and see how high your sodium is…
  • My doctor told me to increase my sodium. I snack on lightly salted peanuts, pretzels or popcorn. Or you could just add salt to some of your food. Also mexican food is pretty high in sodium
  • I've lost 23 (183-160). Since you see the changes everyday they aren't as noticable to you. For me there was one day that I walked past the mirror in the locker room and thought - "who is that, oh it's me." I often still wonder if I have really accomplished anything, because I still see myself as being fat. Looking at…
