  • Never thought I'd be able to walk past a bag of open jelly beans at work 10 times during the day and not eat one of them!
  • Probably not the best for everyone. I take two excedrin about two hours before I work out if I'm feeling especially tired. Works great!
  • Pull both of them in a wagon for a few miles. That will get you going :)
  • Love the elliptical. I do an hr. at a time doing hill intervals. Music is a must! I have found that it has improved my leg strength tremendously. Lower body strength training is much easier for me than upper body.
  • I normally do an hour on the elliptical at a time. I don't dread. It's part of my "me" time at the gym. I'm constantly interrupted at work all day and at home - it's exhausting. The elliptical is the only really "me" time I get. I just plug in my ear buds and turn on the tv at the gym and zone out for an hr. and before I…
  • My level was 9. I believe normal is 30. Doc put me on prescription D - 50,000 IU's - once a week for a month. I have never felt better in my life! I used to be so incredibly achey. I just chalked it up to getting old. Also helped tremendously with anxiety and seasonal depression. I now take 3,000 IU's daily to maintain.

  • You get home and your daughter is doing things that would normally annoy you and your husband is complaining about something and it doesn't bother you in the least. Nothing bothers me after a good workout.
  • Trainer had me do sets 50, 40, 30, 20, 10 and then back up to fifty - 10, 20, 30, 40, 50. (Forget the "real" name on some of these  ) 50 squats, 40 back extensions, 30 back pull-ups, 20 dumbbell presses, 10 chest presses and 10 mountain climbers (with my legs suspended in straps - Good grief - I'm glad there…
  • I gave up baked goods and candy for Lent. The first week was really tough, but I have now adjusted. I am really going to keep it up after Lent.
  • Little penis' (or is that "penis's"?) make men say the most obnoxious things.
  • I did pretty good yesterday. 15 minutes on the treadmill to warm up and then I did the free-weight routine on my own that my trainer had developed for me. I was a bit nervous in the free weight area doing it by myself. But, no one else was around except for another woman, so I muddled through the first time doing it on my…
  • You have two "kid-free", "husband-free" (rare!) hours at home and you decide to go to the gym and do an hour on the elliptical.
  • This is more gross than funny. I posted it immediately after it happened a few months ago and it still makes me cringe. I was in a hurry to get to the gym. Grabbed a bottle of water and towel and headed out the door. I was excited to see my favorite treadmill available, so I quickly went over to it and started working out.…
  • You might need to go up 1/2 size in your shoes. I wear a size 8 regular shoes and a size 8 1/2 athletic. Made a world of difference for me.
  • Ha! Love this. I bought two "wicking" t's over the weekend and wore one last night and I was kind of sad :( I missed the soaked feeling after doing an hour on the elliptical. Ha!
  • You read a lot on MFP about people not losing weight, but inches - many being discouraged. Do you encounter much of that in your training experience - People really working out smart and eating right, but just not losing much?
  • You're doing it! Drinking water and working out. Something is right with your thinking. I know what you mean. I have those days too. You just have to mentally plow through them. There are days it seems I have every obstacle in the world keeping me from the gym or eating right - whether physical or mental. It's hard, but I…
  • Spandex is bad enough on most people, but really - do you HAVE to tuck your shirt into your shiny (or is that shiney?) running tights, dude?? Looks like you have a diaper on under there.
  • I get knots in my back often - mainly in the upper part around the shoulder blade. You could try rolling on a tennis ball, either on the floor, or up against the wall. You mention you have kids - not sure how old. I have my 8 yr. old daugher walk on my back (in fact, just yesterday). She's about 65 lbs and has "magic feet"…
  • There are days I am drained and I push myself to workout and feel absolutely wonderful. And there are days I am drained and workout and feel awful. (Like yesterday. Really bad - physically/mentally just beat up) Fortunately, most times I feel great after working out. I'm still trying to figure out what are the truly…
  • Ask yourself do you REALLY want to go back?? Look at old pictures of yourself. Marvel at what you have accomplished. Think of the warm weather coming and all the cute clothes that are out there to be had :) Hang in there!
  • I gave up candy and baked goods for Lent. Baked goods are especially difficult to give up. (I LOVE cookies, donuts, cake!) I've been doing this for about 10 years now. The first week or two is extremely difficult - I won't lie. I have been in a fog for the last week and a half. (It's amazing how that can affect you!) But,…
  • Move it or the coronor will.
  • Someone has this in their ticker here and I love it: "A year from now, you're going to wish you started a year ago."
  • I'd take creamy, gorgeous white skin over wrinkles and sunspots ANY DAY. (Look at the gorgeous actresses at the Oscars - no one tans anymore.) Siggghhh. Sunscrean is your friend.
  • I never work out on Fridays - that is usually a rest day. We go out to dinner and call it an early night. My daughter and husband were not in the mood to go out. (I REALLY was!) I ended up having a bowl of cereal and headed to the gym for an hour on the elliptical. THAT was a great feeling!
  • My daughter has gymnastics class on Wednesdays, so I get extra time at the gym. Plan on doing an hour on the elliptical. (I love just zoning out on that thing and getting off dripping in sweat. Ha!) And then I will do some weights. (I know - weights should probably come first, but I really get a good workout with them when…
  • Baked goods and candy. Baked goods are my downfall - I really love them. The first week of Lent is difficult, but it gets easier. I've been doing this for over 8 years and it feels really good.
  • That moment when you spring into the gym instead of holding your head down in shame, fear or lack of confidence.
