  • I'm always intrigued by the people in the gym who don't have a sweat towel. Mine is soaking by the time I am done. One time I freaked when I forgot it. Ha!
  • My 11 yr old daughter's custom orthotics were quoted at $800. Ridiculous. Her feet are still growing. You got some good advice above in managing it. Good luck!
  • 30 minute full body weight routine 30 minute HIIT on treadmill and, since I was already dripping with sweat (very humid today), 30 minutes mowing the lawn
  • Roll a tennis or lacrosse ball all over your back either on the floor, or against a wall. You probably have some trigger points you need to release.

  • Thank you. Yes. Same position - in front of chest. It just feels better for me that way - almost a feeling of more control of the dumbell for me, I guess.
  • Regarding squats with dumbells - does it matter if you hold the dumbell horizontally, as opposed to vertically, as in the goblet spot? I prefer to hold a single 25lb dumbell horizontally. I am assuming it doesn't make a difference, but would like some opinions.
  • There are quite a few guys in the gym I go to that incorporate weight machines into their workouts, in addition to their free-weight routine. Let me tell you . . . . they look MIGHTY fine :)
  • Yesterday, I was waiting in the deli of the grocery store and was holding the grocery basket draped over my elbow. Was pleasantly surprised to see an awesome-looking bicep. I held the basket that way the throughout the store even though the wire was digging into me. Ha! Heavy weightlifting really does pay off.
  • Lat pull-downs if you have access to a gym. Planks have also improved my posture. Also, take a tennis ball and place it between your back and the chair and roll away. You will be amazed at all of the trigger points you find. I read that if you have trigger points, that it is difficult to develop muscle. Not sure if that is…
  • Magnesium supplements - not Milk of Magnesia. You find them in the vitamin aisle. Good luck!
  • Love New Balance! Check out http://www.joesnewbalanceoutlet.com for some great deals on shoes. I recently got a pair for 34.99 - originally 144.99. They have great deals on clothing also.
  • I know the spirited discussions we get into here when discussing diet soda and I don't want to start one, but when I cut out diet coke, my cravings for carbs and sugar tanked. I could easily eat three donuts after a McDonalds breakfast meal with large diet coke and STILL be starving. Or, eat a ton of candy after eating a…
  • Being able to do a ton of raking and yard work without feeling sore. I am still waiting for the upper back pain to set in, but I don't think it is going to. Those heavy lat pulldowns have paid off and I love it.
  • Gave up baked goods and candy and still going strong. Also haven't had a diet coke since Ash Wed. I had a stomach bug and couldn't tolerate it. After 30 years of drinking the stuff, I am done with it and feeling really good. Baked goods I could never give up forever.
  • My mom saw a sofa table she wanted in a furniture store. Store charged a $100 delivery fee. I told her I would pick it up for her. The store employees loaded it in my van, so I really didn't get a sense for how heavy it actually was. (They were two young, strong guys - easy for them.) When I got to my mom's place, I…
  • A good probiotic helps with bloat!
  • Might be a trigger point. What did the chiro say? A tennis ball massage may feel good. Put one between you and a wall and roll away.
  • I went to a running store to get recommendations for a shoe because I had such a bad case of PF. I was miserable. The person recommended the shoes below. I paid $144 for them at the time and they were worth every cent. The relief was unbelievable. I recently saw them for 34.99 at the website below. Incredible bargain. I…
  • I do a 60 minute elliptical workout - 30 minutes forward. Second half, I alternate going forward/backward in one minute intervals. I set a hill program at the start and make sure my backward intervals are on the higher resistance hills. Ironically, it is easier going backwards on a higher resistance - at least for me.…
  • My dermatologist said to suck on an ice cube and that will help with the redness while working out. Haven't tried it yet. Throw some ice in a water bottle and give it a shot. Can't hurt.
  • Are you on any cholesterol-lowering meds? i.e. statins? They can cause a lot of pain, as well as a lot of other issues. Google statins and myopathy.
  • Are you on any cholesterol-lowering drug, i.e. statins? Long story short - it took me two years to realize my horrendous foot pain, including two rounds of plantar fasciitis (and a million other muscle/neurological symptoms/stomach pain) were caused by my pravastatin. I've been off just two weeks now and I am absolutely…
  • Phillips caplets (fairly new) (not the liquid Milk of Magnesia). Believe me - that will do the trick. Or, regular magnesium supplements. I take 2 every other day or so.

  • High pony tail. Skinny head band. Bobby pin at back of neck for strays. Once my elastic holder broke in the middle of a heavy-duty treadmill workout and I freaked out
  • Definitely mental. The thing that gets me through is looking at the clock and thinking to myself, "In only xx amount of time I will be home, fresh out of a hot shower, totally relaxed and feeling great." Sure is a terrific feeling when you win the mental battles!
  • It took me a YEAR of driving by the gym and getting enough courage to walk in and join. My only regret is that I didn't do it 11 months earlier :) Like so many have posted, most are thinking about themselves. They aren't thinking about YOU. They're thinking of bills that have to be paid; obligations; work; kids; how great…

  • I can clean all of the windows in my house without my arms feeling like they are going to fall off. Thank you weightlifting. I also now get excited if someone I know is moving  Moving stuff all day is a fantastic workout that doesn't come around too often.
  • Been dealing with this for about 2 years. It's is maddening and depressing! Finally have been getting relief. I've been putting shoes on before I step foot on the floor in the morning. During the night, your body starts to repair that inflamed tissue. When you take your first steps in the morning, you are ripping that…
  • Ugghh. Last episode had the mom making "sketti". Sauce consisted of country crock spread and ketchup melted in the micro and poured over noodles. I still don't have my appetite back.
