I love Atkins and all other low carb routines. My favorite book is "The Paleo Diet" by Loren Cordain, Ph.D. I've heard so many people say that they couldn't do no-carb or even low-carb ....but the amazing thing about the regimen is that after 4 days (when you switch over to being fueled by your own fat stores, hanging on…

CharlieLopez2, I have always wondered exactly the same thing. As the mother of a diabetic (and therefore responsible for her diet when she was young) I observed that her blood sugars were astonishingly stable and within a healthy range when she restricted her carb intake to approximately 15 carbs per meal. However, when…

Good advice.

I hear you. It is so frustrating to be "spinning your wheels." Since you have been at this now for well over a month, I would say that your math is wrong. You seem to be getting plenty of exercise (the output side of the equation) so the problem must be with the food intake (the input side of the equation.) It's really is…

I try for one.

Sound like NSVs to me! Congrats.

One of the downsides of being thin. But you get acclimated after a while. And then, once you hit menopause, you're always hot. No middle ground!

Nicely said!

Very hard to read, but I applaud your honesty. You are right about the first step....you've done it. Now the journey is all about mending you. BTW, I hope Karma bites the *kitten* (and his friend.)

I would go "back to basics" for one week. By that, I mean go back to foods that you KNOW don't cause you any problems. For me it was apples, water and deli roast beef. One week on that regimen and all was back to normal. Then I added dairy. (*&^%%$$$) OMG. Through research, I found that most people "our age" were lactose…

Hang in there. It's very threatening for people when someone they know actually has the courage to step up and get healthy. It sheds a bad light on their frailties.

I've been married to my wonderful Hubby for 31 years....it's a term or endearment, one that is PC, not like our "other" terms of enderament that are not so "G rated." It's a word. Surely there are bigger issues in this world than how we refer to each other!

I agree. If you are still easily losing weight, I wouldn't change anything. I think your body knows how much it wants to weigh.

Pinch the waistband together and STAPLE! Oh, and make sure to take some photos!

Since weekends are a departure from our "normal" routines, I find I run into trouble if I don't have a plan in place BEFORE the weekend starts.

If you're not sure, then err on the side of taking it as a compliment! At least it made you smile!

I've been there. I remember one very uncomfortable "girls lunch" in particular. When the waiter came to me to take my order, the entire table of 14 went quiet....trying to hear what I was having for lunch. I ordered a "normal" lunch of a turkey breast sandwich and chips. When I only ate 1/2 of the sandwich and none of the…

Congratulations to you!!!!!!!

Bump. I'm always looking for a good read for my Kindle, but I have strange tastes. (Sci fi and killing both rate right up there!) And, if Oprah recommends it, I avoid it!

Welcome! MFP is a great site....people are nice and supportive and the tools are helpful and free! Can't beat it.

My thoughts, exactly!
-
Well, thank you Darling!
-
Nice to "meet" you. I find MFP to be so uplifting and supportive.

I no longer have a continually aching lower back (thanks to the workouts) I sleep better I no longer make excuses for not leaving the house Pretty much everything in my closet fits....so I always have "something" to wear. Then the rest is kind of obvous: more confidence, etc.

Good for you! Wish more people would swap out exercise for drugs.

I stir in hot peppers (out of the jar) then dip in baby carrots or Carrs Table Water Crackers.

My daughter got hair extensions and it wasn't successful. Damaged her real hair and were visible most of the time, through no fault of her own. Stick with your own hair. Short looks great on you, but you could just let it keep growing out!
