Been on it for the most part of 25 years (before it received the catchy marketable name.) Love it and wouldn't eat any other way. One caveat....you mentioned that you are not adding salt to your foods. Over time you might want to reconsider this. The Paleo /Caveman diet tends to result in a low carb lifestyle. The low carb…

I have a plain Kindle which I adore. I prop it on the treadmill and read during my daily 2 mile walk. LOVE it! However, that being said, if I were to get another Kindle, I think I would get the Fire. So much more flexibility. I suppose it all depends on how much you want to spend. (And I'm assuming there is a monthly fee…

This view marked a shift from a working and saving ethic to an ethic which stresses the value of leisure and the pleasure of consumption. Glenn Beck "Broke"

Wednesday 2/15/12: 130.8 (Put on a few pounds in St. Thomas, U.S.V.I., drinking rum and partying shamelessly. Dancing and imbibing in the nightclubs with folks half my age!) Today, Sunday 2/19/12: 126.8

You're rockin' those glasses, in a good way!

I heard exactly the same thing, and at 5'3", I lived at 115 for quite a few years. It was my perfect weight. Not too low, not too high.

It's is weird. I've had it happen. Doesn't make any sense at all, but it does happen. No complaints though, right? It's how you look and feel and how your clothes fit that is more important than that meaningless number on the scale.

Many years ago, our family went on vacation to Jamaica for a week and my son invited his good friend. The good friend's mother insisted that her son get an afternoon nap every day or he would "throw tantrums, be cranky, not sleep at night, etc." Since my son was not a napper, I ignored her directions and figured I would…

A few years ago I decided to take a yoga class while on vacation. I got a recommendation from the hotel concierge and headed over to the studio. The studio receptionist told me that a class was in session but I was welcome to join. I opened the door, tiptoed in and put my mat down at the back of the class. The room was…

I have an unusual suggestion: if you are prone to snacking at night, change your routine. If you are prone to munching while watching TV, sit in a different chair. Sometimes just shaking up your usual routine can make all the difference. I have a friend who created a "go to" meal for whenever she eats in a restaurant. She…

It didn't happen to me, thankfully, but I was embarrassed for her..... It was when thong exercise wear was in fashion. (This was the late 80's.) This one lady put on an obviously brand new thong outfit and had the bottoms on backwards. Talk about camel toe. No one told her and she went through the entire step class that…

Getting on the scale first thing in the morning keeps me motivated and keeps me on track. The only times in my life where I have gained any appreciable amount of weight have been when I haven't been getting weighed daily. Getting weighed every morning keeps me focused. I love to see the numbers drop, but even if they…

I got set up on a blind date by a well-meaning roommate. She said he was tall, dark and handsome. Successfull....on and on. Grudgingly I went. He wasn't any of those things. He was extremely short, ugly and drove a beat up old Chevy. (The kind with a hole in the floor boards.) He lead the conversation off by saying that he…

Perfect advice. Don't enable your mom. YOU will lose not only the money, but a lot more because she will disappoint you yet again. Put yourself and your fiance first. He's your new family. BTW, most churches have funds earmarked specifically for cases like your mom. They will loan her the rent money.

I'd love to join, too. 55. Been in great health my entire life. Life is for living!!!!!!!
Most MD's know almost nothing about nutrition science.
Boy, that's the truth. You have to discover what works for you. Alot depends on sex (not whether you are having any, but which one you are,) age, activity. Me? I'd gain weight eating 110 carbs per day. My limit is 40.

Darlin', I hope you have a blog 'cause you are awesome!

Exactly!

I do low carb, not calorie counting, so wine is free! Dry wines only like chardonnay or sauvignon blanc or merlot.

I'm a die-hard low carber. Been doing low carb for over 25 years. I find it very funny that when I tell people I eat low carb, they make the false assumption that I also do high fat. Wrong. 40 carbs (or less) per day and keep the fat intake down. That's it. Delicious food and no hunger. Not to mention, great health. Not…

Anyone who wants can add me. Caveat: I don't count calories, just carbs. I pretty much follow the Paleo/Primal Diet.
-
You don't need the starches or the carbs! Just do the meat and low-carb veg.

I'd welcome some more Primal Friends. Been doing Primal for over 30 years...we didn't call it Primal back then, of course! Just fell into this way of life because it "felt right." Can't explain it any other way. Once I ditched the bread and the dairy I knew I was on the right track. Soon to follow was the pasta and the…

I count Carbs only. In my opinion it's the only way to live and enjoy your food! Lobster, steak, chicken, snow peas, wine, fats (in small amounts) strawberries....Yummmmm

I think if you read carefully, you'll see there is not a single supporter of he HCG Diet. This is a good and informative thread. Might stop people from pursuing this after they read the thread. edited for spelling

I did it in the 80's. Waste of money. They put me on a 600 calorie per day diet with daily HCG shots. Yes, I got to 110 lbs, but would have gotten there with the diet anyway.

My Dad had a need for sweets after meals. He had 1 (and only 1) frozen miniature Dove chocolate every night. It did the trick for him. (He also liked Andes chocolate covered after dinner mints. He said they aided with digestion.)
