I have been told by several people that you should only eat around 110-150 carbs per day. Is this true ... any feedback would be wonderful.

It really depends, unless you don't tolerate carbs well or have a metabolic disorder requiring you to limit carbs, there really is no upper limit on carbs assuming you have room to get in adequate amounts of fats and protein0 -
Everyone's thresh hold for eating carbs, fat and protein is all different. It is dependent upon any health issues you may or may not have, activity level, etc.
You will have to experiment and find the level in which you are satisfied and can live with happily.
For myself, I do best on a high fat, moderate protein, low carb plan where all of my carbs come from vegetables and some fruit.
I have major metabolic issues though.
I am happy and satisfied eating this way. My blood work is great. No more Diabetes meds, High Blood Pressure meds, no thyroid medications any longer.
I eat until I am hungry and finish when I am full.0 -

The other posters are correct... what is considered right for you could either be something you have to consider working/constructing out for yourself, or something you could consider with the help of a healthcare team that specializes in low-carb dietary intakes...
For my case, Im under three physicians' care right now and also had to be part of a medical study (seems as though I have a metabolic disorder they cant pinpoint a name for)... Based on my full health history and family history, they constructed a path to follow, set a few standards in place.. and it has been a wonderful experience so far... Im at my half way goal right now, still maintaining (I dont like the word plateau, its counterproductive in my mind)... but, for my situation, I needed to seek medical providers' advice....
Its all up to you!0 -

by the way... those several people.... unless they have "MD" after their name, they really dont have any right to be dictating what you should or shouldnt be doing.... only your own doctor can advice you of what is right for your individual situation.....
Dont let the hate-mongers on MFP come after you either.... unfortunately it can get 'dirty'.... but keep your chin up and follow what is right for you!0 -
It isn't the mfp people ... it is people I know in real life0

With a little effort on anyone's part to research, there are specialists out there that have that background... My Endo does....0 -

Boy, that's the truth.
You have to discover what works for you. Alot depends on sex (not whether you are having any, but which one you are,) age, activity. Me? I'd gain weight eating 110 carbs per day. My limit is 40.0 -
im eating 20 to 30 or so a day and really eating good foods......you got to be creative...0
-
It's all in what works for you fat/carb/protein ratio. Find a nutritionist or Dr who can help you with this.
I know personally a high protein, moderate fat, low carb diet is the only way fat will ever come off my body (PCOS is a *****).0 -
Everyone is going to be different..... I am a type 2 diabetic and carb counting was/ still is a big part of my weightloss. I worked with a dietician since my diagnosis in 2009 and we set me up on a carb regimen of around 240 a day. i eat 60 grams at my main meals and 20 grams at my snacks, in the beginning this aloud me to lose 2-3 lbs. a week and since I have adjusted my carbs and actually increased to 300 grams a day now and am still losing 1 to 2 lbs. a week.. And I have A1c of 5.4 for 14 straight months now... You need to personalize it to your needs cause everyone will be different.....0

AMEN...MD's are not trained in nutrition...they send you to me!! lol and the other posters are right..trial and error, see how your body responds. I'm low carb...60grams or under a day...I consider my weekends high carb and they hit 100-120 grams..to each their own!0 -
It will really just depend on what works for you. Some people can eat a moderate amount of all their macros and do great with their weight loss! I keep my carbs below 100g per day (or closer to 50g if I don't work out) - only because I feel better this way. I don't get tired in the afternoon and I'm much less bloated.
But like the other said, experiment with what works for you. You may find that keeping a better balance of carbs, fat, and protein will be easier and more beneficial to you.0 -

THIS!
Most doctors take very basic nutrition courses at best, and have been fed the usual conventional wisdom nonsense. For weight loss generally for most people if you can keep it under or around 100g a day they will start to see some weight loss. I personally like to be around 50 or under and do fine even 20 or under per day.0 -
Unfortunately I read the PSA and the guys avatar was him running in some sort of race, so clearly he is the Ruler of the MFP nation. Therefore, I am not at liberty to offer any advice on this topic. Please see running man for assistance on this matter.

I think the jist is you'll have to experiment and find out what's right for you. between my PCOS and recent diagnosis of diabetes I have some pretty strict carb counting. (max)15g for breakfast 15g for snack, 30g for lunch, 15g for snack, 45g for dinner, 15g for snack. Yeah I eat 6 times a day. what I've learned though is that is always best to have a protein in conjunction with the carbs because it evens out the blood sugar and thus the energy which should also be true for anyone not diabetic for example a no sugar added applesauce cup might be 15g and just fine for breakfast but if I eat it with eggs it's the same carbs but my overall energy is better and I don't get hungry as fast.0

Great info!!!0

I've lowered my carbs, increased my protein and fat. I feel so much more fulfilled and not craving random things throughout the day. I love the change.0

Agreed.0 -
Works for me, but like others said...doesn't work for everyone. I say try it strict for 30 days and see how you look/feel will have your answer.0

I'm so happy to see such happy honest responses
It really does just depend on what works for you. You have to experiment.
I am insulin resistant (which i firmly believe years and years of overeating starchy carbs and sugar has caused) so I have to watch my carbs. I do have occasional cheat days though on special occasions.0
