I fell off the step during my first class, but that was a long time ago. Keep with it and don't be embarassed. Everyone in your class went through the same thing when they started. If the instructor is too busy to go over a step with you, ask another member. I've found people in group classes are usually very encouraging…

Maybe it's the higher altitude at the top of the stairs. Less air!

Tough crowd today, lighten up people!

I like the idea of praying before a class. I've always felt that each pose was a mini prayer to my body, thanking it for all it does do keep me healthy. And I spend savasana thinking of all the things I'm thankful for including the the instructor and classmates. I'm not sure if that helps or hurts the relaxation pose, but…

I had this bad for my pregnancies! If I saw a Mcdonalds, I would u-turn in the middle of the street to get those salty fries! Of course, you don't want to do that. I actually found that eating salty foods helped with my morning sickness. Cheeze-its were also my friend. You can also try light microwave popcorn. My doctor…

I'll ask you what the paramedics asked me about 50 times when I passed out at the gym.......are you pregnant? I wasn't either! It was my first day at a new gym and I hadn't worked out properly in about a month because I'd been busy moving. I was also in a hurry and didn't cool down very well before going from the treadmill…

I almost always work out in group classes. Something new to my area are pre-choreographed classes for stregth training. Currently I take a class called Body Pump from the Les Mills training system. I've also taken Group Power by BTS. Both classes use barbells and plates. My question is regarding the dead lifts. In these…

I don't actually own one, but I have an instructor who loves her bodybugg. That said, I checked into getting one and found that you have to also have an online subscription to use with the device, so you have the monthly fee (or annual) for that as well. That turned me off, so I'm just gonna get a regular hrm (if my hubby…

Check out your local ymca. My y offers a free 7 day trial. That'll get you one week at the gym. Other gyms may have similar offers.

Adding 75 minutes for yesterday. 15 minutes on the treadmill and 60 mins step class. Another 60 min step class this morning and 60 min strength training. Total = 433 minutes

I just saw this and I'll join! I've only worked out for 238 minutes so far this month. I already know I may not make the 1,000, but I'll shoot for it anyway. This month I'm missing lots of workouts with all the holiday kids' programs and parties. This week is especially making me crazy. I have to miss one workout for a…

I end up eating fast food for lunch about twice a week. Of course nothing fast food is healthy, but my go to options for low-cal drive thru is: Taco Bell - fresco cruchy taco & chicken gordita supreme. I know the taco is 150 cals. The two together are around 500 cals. Wendy's - side salad with fat free french dressing, jr…

Chocolate!!! Chips & Salsa

I work out first thing in the morning, before I shower or at the end of the day when I don't have anywhere to be afterwards.

Um, I think your post is a little confusing. I would never consider wearing anything I've worked out in before washing it. Gross. I always change everything after a workout. Maybe you could just get another pair of undies.

Ugh, I feel the same way. I've been working since spring to get rid of the weight gain from last winter! Last night, was a regular workout night for me and I was totally whining about having to go out in the cold and dark to get to the gym. As I grabbed my cozy, laying around the house pants, my husband says " No way, get…

I would log 40 mins circuit training and 20 mins pilates. When I log as circuit training, it shows a pretty high calorie burn, so I would be cheating myself if I logged the whole hour as circuit training.

Both are great for your core, but pilates definitely focuses more on your core. While yoga engages your core constantly, you also can get a great arm/shoulder & quad burn. I noticed that I was able to hold difficult arm balances in yoga after I took pilates regularly because my core was stronger. Yoga works more on your…

Stretch the calves out by standing on a step with your heels hanging off the step and gently press your heels toward the floor. Should feel good.

Getting past the plateau is all about muscle confusion. Keep your calories in about the same, but intensify your workouts and keep changing how you attack your muscles. Try a step class, a kickboxing class, run on the track or the road. Include weight training, yoga, etc. etc. Also, in some cases, while you may not see any…

I'm really only commenting because I love your username. One of my best friends has used that nickname for me since high school! I'm not much help as I don't like to work out at home because my kids can't leave me alone and it's really difficult to break up a sibling squabble from a treadmill. But I have done 30 day shred…

I feel the same way! I love yoga, but it's not a quick calorie burner. I always jog on the treadmill for about 30 minutes before my yoga class so I feel like I'm taking advantage of my workout time. You could try hot yoga. I've never done it, but it must burn more calories. Namaste

The worst for me is when I forget my yoga mat. I hate using the gym's mats. I also hate when I forget my earphones. I force myself to get on the treadmill twice a week even though I find it incredibly boring. If I can't watch the tv, I go insane! The only other option is to stare at the brick wall in front of the…

I"ll definitely join! I've been trying to improve on my pushups anyway. I'm at about 15-20 good pushups right now, but I have not been very disciplined about consinstency.

I've never tried the shoes myself. Just thought I'd mention that my best friend is a naturopathic doctor and her opinion is that these types of shoes are very bad for your joints in the long run. If you already have issues, you might want to ask your doctor what their opinion is.

I don't think I could resist an "extra" order of fries either! But, hey, the days not over yet. Get back on that treadmill and burn off those cookies!

I would be in the mood for some power yoga. Something between strength training & cardio with a great stretch for the sore muscles. If you're not into yoga, I'd do cardio with some extra core excercises. Congrats on the soreness!
