  • Just.... no. Waste of money. If you have an upcoming wedding, do strength training. F@ck the scales- seriously. I had the "extreme dieting/calorie restriction" mentality for about 3 months and I just ended up with the smaller version of the spare tire I already had. You know the drill- 1200 calories, cardio like crazy,…
  • The lightest I ever was at my adult height was after I came back from France. Their lifestyle is VERY different- everything from small portion size, quality food, and lots and lots of walking. I think portion size is a HUGE factor. Their serving of juice would be a size many here would consider a shot glass and my dad had…
  • I lost about 7lbs in a week, that was water weight, then I gained about 4 back. I agree with other posters- 25 lbs in 2 weeks doesn't seem healthy. Do you plan on keeping on your herbalife program forever? It doesn't seem to me like it's something that is sustainable and would cause you to be more likely to gain it all…
  • Greek yogurt or fruit, usually :-) Yoplait simply 100 apple pie yogurts are the BEST
  • I would really question if your scales are accurate. That doesn't sound right at all. I'm 5'2", 9st 3lbs, and I would (visually) estimate myself in the high 20% range- but then again you are probably more muscular than I am. Calculators based on my measurements have put me anywhere from 24-30%. If you are muscular, I would…
  • I volunteered in a food pantry for a few years. Maybe it was just the area, but the food there was better quality and nutrition than what I had. Local farmers would bring in extras of whatever produce they couldn't sell at the farmer's market- plenty of broccoli, apples, lettuce, carrots, zucchini- you name it! Plenty of…
  • I agree with OP- it's how the parents raise the kids. My mom didn't let me have much Mickey D's at all growing up and it was considered a "treat". After 6 years of not eating at McDonalds, I had some of their chicken nuggets for lunch because it was cheap and I was in a hurry. Never again!! Such awful flavor I that I…
  • Could be: 1. Sodium 2. Lack of fiber 3. Hormonal fluctuations. (I recently lost 2.6 lbs overnight due to that) 4. Inaccurate logging of food/exercise 5. Inaccurate scales (I've seen some give me 2 different readings 4lbs apart within minutes) 6. Extra water weight if you've just started lifting weights Or lots of other…
  • Strength training, cardio, and diet. It's that simple. You can't spot-train weight loss. I'm roughly the same height as you and started at a higher HW but lost 21 lbs by a mixture of eating right, strength training, and cardio. If you like videos, I do Jillian Michaels 30 Day Shred- but that's just me. Eating right is…
  • Maybe switch types? I'm on a low-dose one right now rather than tricyclic and I've lost over 20lbs and I'm having a pretty easy time at least maintaining that loss. When my insurance company switched me from one generic to a different form of the same generic, I gained 6 lbs in a week and felt like the world was ending.…
  • I second this. I struggle with eating enough sometimes, and if I had to weigh everything before I ate it, I'd just rather not eat. I tried the whole weighing thing, but it just discouraged me from eating anything, so for me it's healthier to just use a rough estimation and log everything.
  • 3 things: 1. Don't eat just 1200 calories. Just don't. I'm a female, 5'2" and 129 lbs. I typically consume around 1400 calories. 1200 usually makes me feel lightheaded, and I'm sure it's not doing me any good. If you want to speed up your weight loss, lift weights and/or do more cardio. Even 15 minutes of squats, pushups,…
  • Lifestyle, stress level, amount to lose, hormones, diet, activity level, age, genetic makeup, allergies, etc all are huge factors. Consider yourself lucky you have been able to progress so quickly. I lost almost 8lbs in April but barely 2 so far in May, so it's slowing for me a bit. What's changed? My job, mostly- now…
  • Daily, but I don't take much stock in an overnight change. If my weight goes up 2 lbs overnight-eh, who cares? Clearly I didn't ear 7000 lbs over my maintenance so I don't freak out. I just find that sometimes whatever day I lose weight kinda shifts around, so if I did it weekly I'd get disappointed. More of a data…

  • I got quite the chuckle out of these highlights. Thanks for the morning's entertainment. It's pretty apparently that SugaryLynx is a troll account. In a prior thread SugaryLynx was going after me- glad to know now that was full of BS
  • Well, overall I would say it wouldn't be worth it to continue that way purely because it seems like eating only one kind of food would mean that you're missing out on nutrients. As Aaron_K123 mentioned, avoiding protein is REALLY not a good idea, especially if you are supposed to have your period soon. I've been iron…
  • Usually I only regret it if it was a really calorie-dense thing that ended up sucking. Like I ate some cheesecake last night- 324 calories and kinda supar. As far as cheesecakes go, I'd give it a 6 out of 10 lol. Then, my fiance started cooking up hot dogs. I coulda had a hot dog and bun for what that cheesecake was, but I…
  • Yup, describes me perfectly. I have at least another 10 lbs to go, and it seems like all of it is around my middle. Of course when I lost my first 20 or so lbs, it was mostly from my butt and thighs (ugh!!). But, I'm actually finding weight training (oddly enough not situps or crunches) are helping with the gut. Although I…
  • I'm the same height as you... 5'1", 5'2" on a good day (my doctor once measured 5' and 1 15/16"! come on!!!). Seriously, eat the friggin chips. I'm about 130, still losing weight, and can still eat chips, chocolates, etc. It's not about what you eat but how many calories you take in and your activity level- cardio and…
  • Most of the time, I just eat what I want as long as it's not a huge portion. I really like Dove chocolates, so I got a bag of the little squares, and I usually treat myself to 1 or 2 per day. 44calories each- not bad! I tend to let them melt in my mouth so I enjoy the flavor longer :-)
  • I'm a dual national so I've spent a considerable amount of time in the US and UK. It's sooo true that McD's in the UK is expensive, but I'm pretty sure it's because the British government taxes the crap out of it. In the US, I can get a burger and fries from the value menu for around $2.50, or GBP 1.49 pounds. McDonalds is…
  • Lamb! I almost forgot about it because it's so expensive I never buy it! The last time I had it was over a year ago and I miss it! A rack of lamb here is about $22/lb (13 GBP) and never goes on sale. *Sigh* I better save up...
  • Salmon, definitely! Also: avocados, berries, lean meat in general, crab and scallops. Seafood is a once in a while treat. Meanwhile, we can get a pizza for $5 to last two of us 2 meals! I'd spend at least that on EACH meal I made with seafood. Unfortunately it's sooo cheap to eat sooo bad!
  • I'm practically the same height and weight as you- 5'2" and 9st 4lbs, down from 10st 10 lbs. One piece of advice if you have no idea where to begin: go on youtube and search for videos of Jillian Michaels 30 day shred. I bought the DVD, but you really don't need to if you're exercising at the gym. She has some really easy…
  • 5'6" at 95 lbs is underweight. Your BMI is 15.3, which is dangerously low. I am 5'2" and shooting for 115-120 (BMI 21-22). I wouldn't even DREAM of 95. Get some help. Seriously. Not to mention the physical harm you're doing to your own body, you are probably putting your marriage in jeopardy too. It sounds like your…
  • I started out at pretty much the same height and weight as you, and it has taken me over 3 months to lose about 19 lbs (8.6kg). Some helpful tips: 1. Eat more than 1200 calories. Seriously. As the other poster wrote, I would try 1400 cal/day (that's what I do). I don't eat it back. 2. More protein, less carbs. I can't see…
  • ^^ Why I only eat at home or at places that post their nutritional info either on their menu or online (yes, I'm smart enough to do that!). I vote with my wallet. I kinda wish they were required to though...
  • That's different! I was using the calculator on IIFYM. The one you gave me said TDEE of 2394- a 508 cal difference! And that mathematically makes sense- minus 20% puts me at consuming 1915 cal and then burning the 500 brings me to about a net 1500, which is close to 1200 on MFP. Thanks!
  • Forty6and2, I understand what you are saying for MFP, and that makes sense. I'm not really asking about what to set my goal at, but rather to confirm that my understanding that you should not net less than 1200 cal/day using MFP's method is correct. What I am also trying to understand is how that fits with TDEE. I guess…
