  • Absolutely! I lost 30 lbs last year, and still drank and ate pizza, chocolate, burgers, donuts, etc... (and I'm sure my calorie allowance is MUCH less than yours). The only "problem" is that a burger from Red Robin (for example) can be as much as 800-1000 calories. My budget is 1500 cal/day, so I have about 500 cal left if…
  • I'm 5'2" and right now and my best weight is about 115 to 120. I'm super close at 123 right now. Any less than that, and I'd look skeletal. I have a biggish rib cage and at 125ish I was already starting to see my ribs, so under 115 is right out of the question for me. Just want to tone up a bit at this point.
  • @Veil5577 That's mostly skin and a *little* fat. It happens. Oddly enough, at 20 lbs down, I had those big time. Now at 30lbs down, I've lost those and still have love handles. Go figure... Gonna focus on lifting weights to reduce BF ETA: Quoting fail. lol
  • I actually GAIN weight during my period- I've gained and lost 2 lbs within the last week! 2 lbs in a week is more normal, though. I think I'd be concerned if you were legitimately losing 4lbs/week. When I first started, I had a 6lb drop the first week due to water weight, then it went back up a little bit and when I was…
  • I usually "budget" my calories to allow some for later on in the day, and make sure that I drink plenty of water/tea. My late night vice is either wine or chocolate (so I guess I really have a sweet tooth). I'll leave about 150 calories for the end of the day, which is about 3 of my little chocolate squares or a glass of…
  • I'm 5'2" and came down from 150 to 121 since February. Your doctor is right- 135 for our height is barely dipping into the healthy weight range. I remember how I felt at 135 and 125 and even that 10 lbs makes a difference in how I felt about myself. That said- you have to get to 135 before you get to 125, right? So, why…
  • Lol I'm actually "winding it down a notch". I think I almost went too fast right at the start so I'm working toward maintenance. I want to make sure I still fit in my dress on the big day. Plus, wedding planning stress and a 50+ hr/week job aren't really good for going all-out :ohwell:
  • Same for me- I used to eat pizza, tacos, fried chicken... drink, etc. I still do all of that but a lot less of it. Went from 150 to 122 at 5'2" since the beginning of Feb 2014. 7 lbs away from my goal that I wanted to hit by the end of September... I think I'm well on my way!
  • I had been going, but my insurance said I had used too many PT visits and that I'd have to pay out of pocket for any more this year... which, yeah that's not happening. I don't have that kind of money.
  • Thanks for the info, everyone! I'll try to get back into squats again, hopefully soon after my last round of rehabbing my knee. I had actually injured my knee before with squats, but I have kind of an odd deformed-bone sort of thing going on that was what was causing it, according to my PT. I think I'll try to get a…
  • It should absolutely be positive- if it's negative or low there's a problem! Your body needs a certain amount of calories to function- to breathe, digest food, keep your blood circulating, etc. Even if I was in a coma I'd need 1300 calories to survive, so yes, it needs to be positive!
  • Ooh congrats! Dress shopping is sooooo exciting. You'll have a good time! I actually took a vacation day on Monday to handle some things- and actually that's what made me feel like everything was "really real" because that's when I sent the Save the Dates!
  • As others have said, how do you know what you're eating if you don't track it? And 1500-2000 calories is kind of a huge range so you really want to narrow it down at the very least. That's a potential range of 500 cal/day (=1lb/week). For me, that's the difference between losing 0.6 lbs per week (eating 1500/day) to…
  • With your height/weight/age (I guessed your age), I plugged it into a calculator and your TDEE is about 1900 calories. That means you'd need to consume 1900 calories at your current activity level to maintain your weight. Since you only have 10 lbs to lose, TDEE - 10% or -15% would probably be more reasonable of a deficit,…

  • I'm a 5'2" 124 lb female and I consume around 1300 calories a day and still lose- since you're male, taller, and I assume heavier than I am (mostly just because of the height thing at least), you definitely need MORE calories! I know based on my activity level (lightly active), I could lose fat and gain muscle at 1500, so…
  • Chances are they're taking unhealthy measures to lose the weight (exercise 4 hours a day, eat 500 calories, etc). The thing is, on those shows, generally those people take time off of their normal lives to lose the weight. I (and I assume you too) don't have that time luxury. I need to make my workouts fit around work,…
  • If that's the scales you're going with, then I'd say just take the 2lbs and go with what that one says from now on. Sometimes it's worth it to "cheat" a little- self esteem boost! I'm thinking of getting a new one too. Mine only seems to register very specific weights- 124.6, 125.9, 127.2, etc. Meaning I never go up or…
  • At 5'8" and 120 lbs, you are medically UNDERweight according to your BMI of 18.2, so it's a good thing you're gaining!! If you're unhappy with your physique, maybe try weight lifting and focusing on inches rather than lbs? You may end up gaining weight even then, but you'll have a smaller waist, more tones arms/legs/butt,…
  • For me it was after about 4 months and 20 lbs, but then again I went from muffin-topping out of my size 4-6's into comfortably fitting into size 2's. Weight lifting should also help you lose inches faster, which will make you drop clothes sizes faster (no, it won't make you bulk).
  • Usually mine's around 1300-1400. I sometimes do, sometimes don't, eat back exercise calories... depending on what I do (if I burn lots of calories I definitely eat SOME back, but I don't if I was just out for a walk or something). I don't really have a formal "routine" in the summer months since I'm usually pretty active…
  • Yeah I had the opposite. I'm down 25lbs and I was having odd chills in 80 degree weather. I mean, like I was wearing a fleece jacket in 75-80 degree heat!
  • This morning I realized I had to use the next notch to tighten my belt more!
