Thanks everyone, I'm going to fully take on board how important core strength is and make that a big part of my routine once I'm back to fitness

Thanks guys, I do have bouts of sciatica and unfortunately have struggled to move this morning so will stick with plenty of walking for the next couple of days until it eases off. That will teach me for being over-enthusiastic!

I would be glad of all the friends who are going to support each other that I can get. I'm rubbish at keeping myself motivated which is why I've failed in the past year but now I'm determined to lose the weight that I have piled on. Feel free to add me if you like.

Whenever I'm bored, not matter what time of day or night it is. I hadn't realised until now how much of a 'boredom' rather than hungry eater I am

Thanks for the tips and encouragement everyone :) I'm going to try and measure loss by inches rather than weight at the moment, mainly because my scales are useless and I can put on or lose 10lbs just by moving them an inch across the floor. Great if you want a quick ego boost but rubbish if you think you're doing well and…

I have taken a 'before' picture. I admit it made me cry but it's given me the kick I needed. MFP has set me a calorie goal of 1200 per day which is probably perfectly reasonable. I think it's more about me changing my eating habits and reducing carbs (bad ones). I've also started doing the 30 shred at home. I want to take…

It works by helping you understand where your calories are coming from and how you may be eating too many, for example calories that you don't even think of like black coffee. It helps to teach healthier eating choices and gives support through loads of great people that are doing or have done what you are trying to…

Hi, daft question on the 30 Day shred how much room do you need to actually do it? I have a tiny house full of animals and don't want to spend money on something I can't use.

I cannot thank you enough for posting such an honest account of your weight gain and subsequent loss! It's really inspiring to a newbie like myself and such an inspiration. Congratulations on achieving such a fantastic loss!

Well done! I keep promising myself that I won't get on the scales every day then seem to wake up and find myself standing on them! Great weight loss too, lots of inspiration :)

Hi Kagevf, I'm 5' 8, 40 and at the moment I do a 4 mile walk 2 times a week and swim a minimum of once a week normally managing 60 lengths in an hour. I'm becoming more aware that I also need to figure out where to get protein from other than meat as I'm really not a huge fan of meat at all. I have joined the gym so that I…

Thank you for all your hints and tips. I will keep going as I don't like carrying the extra weight and I will try and stay off the scales for a week or so! I'm also thinking I may lay off bread completely to see if that has any effect.

I've been eating veg (I tend not to eat meat) and soya products but I have been scanning the packets to get the data of calories from the MFP app then weighing what I've cooked........I was absolutely horrified at what 60g of cooked rice actually looked like which probably explained my expanding figure in the first place!…

My current weight is 215lbs and my goal weight is 165lbs so it's not as if I don't have plenty to lose hence my confusion. Every 'fad' diet I've done I've lost loads in the first week.

My calorie goal is 1610 and due to putting my back out this week I haven't been recording any calories burnt so it's not the burn. for two of the days I had less than 500 calories due to feeling pretty rubbish but still went to work and did my normal day. I'm using the barcode scanner on my phone to automatically put in…

Thanks for this! I've really got to get my head out of starving myself to lose weight.

Hi, I'm currently in the same 'fail hell'. I too gave up smoking 8 months ago and have put on a staggering 4 stone in weight. Also like you I religiously stick to a healthy eating plan, lose a couple of pounds in the first few days then find myself stepping on the scales after a week a couple of pounds heavier than when I…
