Thank's guys and Horstbc 6+ lbs is awesome! Tim, you got this! I don't wish my motivation on anyone, but my eating and lifestyle habits finally caught up with me, so I figure if bad habits got me here may be that good habits will reverse the situation. At first, this diet plan seemed difficult to swallow, but I really am…

SW - 341 LW - 302 CW - 300..4 Loss - 1.6lbs. good job Dale and dbw. Welcome aboard Warhawk79! This is the second time I have posted this the first time was about 6 pm, so not sure if it is my comp or MFP. I was certain I had posted last week too, but anyway. Bigger NSV this week, I got into two pairs of slacks I hadn't…

WTG Dave! It's a loss and on vacation, that's a win.

Congrats to the parents and the very happy granddaddy! Once she starts crawling and walking I see a built-in fitness program for grandpa! ;) B)

I went to the ER on February 27th because we could not get my BP to go down even with the crisis plan my doctor had for me when it got too high. Two days in the hospital and the next week at my follow up appointment I was told I had chronic kidney disease. The ultrasound for the kidneys revealed an aneurysm in my abdominal…

Prepping is really key. We started making sure we have containers of various beans, onions, chopped veggies and baby spring 50/50mix around to throw something together quickly and since we live far out we generally take a small cooler with us. It's 60 miles to the closest large town with sprouts or a whole foods store, so…

I ran into that too and I checked out the Engine 2 plan and it helped me realign my eating. They recommend packing in the greens first at every meal and then carbs so you eat fewer carbs which are more dense calorie wise. I did the 7-day challenge, but I do not plan to be as rigid with oils and still use parmesan and feta.…

Hi Horstbc, Welcome and let's Git -R-Done! Eating habits are hard to break, it seems as though we need to find the right motivation and eating habits we can live with. I have eliminated most processed foods and stick to whole foods and mainly plant based and it took since the end of February to make the transition. (old…

Just finished the engine 2 diet challenge and have been transitioning to WFPB eating style for about four months and was ready to go meat free. I don't think I'll be as militant on the oils and flours, but with creativity and making it fun, this is a doable lifestyle. We grilled carrot dogs for the fourth and they were…

You are not wrong, it is your body and because you have a keen sense of how your body responds you'll be able to tailor your eating to what works for you which is really the best way. I just went plant based this week after a 5-month transition to it for health reasons. It was hard for me because I love my steaks and I am…

Oh, I definitely saw improvement when I was still eating meat, it just seemed to speed up quite a bit with the change in my source of food. I also really think it is based a lot on each person's body. Years ago when I power lifted to compete, I thrived on a high protein meat based diet and had great labs, so there are so…

Interesting turn this thread took. I don't want to join the argument about benefits but will present my results. Since the end of February, I have been slowly eliminating meat and processed foods. My calories have stayed stable at roughly 1800-2000 calories a day, but the weight loss really increased as the balance of…

Great post! I started originally because I had a 7.5 A1C and I asked the doctor to give me 90 days to try to get it to come down before she started me on meds. I was 371 and that first run got me down to 305 and 5.1 A1C and I stayed there for 3 years. Then for the next 3 years, I yoyoed between 315 and 340. I ended up in…

Well, first official day as a mainly plant-based eater and went over calories, but feel pretty good and still got close to the same protein as a normal animal protein day. I got one of my bp meds lowered again yesterday which makes the second time in 30 days and my kidney number moved up 9 points. I'm hoping this no dense…

Hang in there, Tim. We are staying cool, but just barely. As I get older, pretty much anything over 100 deg is no fun.

SW - 341 LW - 311 CW - 307 Loss - 4lbs. been exercising more and getting the sauna every day, which seems to have stopped the yo-yo water weight. Doc said getting in the sauna will help take some of the load off my kidneys, so hoping when I test again next week we get some good news that at least they have stabilized.…

I know sometimes I get stuck on a particular self-talk spin and it is difficult to get the replay button to stop. I use a set of questions by William Glasser, that help me talk my way through them. I use them for personal things and for my professional endeavors. This is a little question map I put together for the staff I…

Apple slices soaked in a touch of honey and lemon then sprinkle a little cinnamon and nutmeg on when you put them on the trays. I do a lot of jerky too using London broil cut against the grain. If you like it a little on the softer less tough side, slice about 3/8-5/16 of an inch, or about a 3/16 for real thin jerky.…

Forks over Knives was an eye opener and definitely is a must watch, we just saw another one recently called in defense of food on Netflix and it made a lot of sense. I haven't changed my calorie intake much, but the quality and source of the food and more real foods and less processed foods has been a game changer.

Has anyone watched the movie Forks over Knives? So I was at the store to get salad fixin's and my wife texts me, get a small sourdough to go with dinner. Of course who argues with sourdough so I grabbed it. When I got to the checkout there was a Jalapeno Cheese bread in the basket (I must have somehow grabbed it when I grabbed the sourdough) and I thought, "well it…

Joined MFP in March 2011, been on and off, up and down. Started back up Feb 2017 down 24lbs this round and 61 lbs overall, with 85lbs to go.

SW - 341 LW - 314 CW - 311 Loss - 3lbs. My kidneys are not functioning well these days so my weight can go up and down by as much as 5-6lb in a day, so while I'm pretty sure I am steadily losing weight, my weight is a daily yo-yo. I have only lost 2lbs (solid mass) in the past two weeks, but I have dropped a pant size.…

howdy, We've been prepping snack bags and small 1/4-1/2 cup plastic containers with different snacks so we have a variety and they are easy to pack-n-go. We have used veggies, fruit, nuts, seeds and dried fruits/veggies. We keep dried apricots and figs around for something sweet. It's helped us stay on track about 90% of…

I'm a coffee purist, black and I like the fork to stand up in it. I have had a few friends switch from cream to black and using a good coffee bean makes the difference. It takes a bit of searching, but Sprouts has a few blends that are good, I usually mix their Sumatra with Guatemalan. I have dropped from 2 pots to two…

SW - 341 LW - 312 CW - 314 2lb Gain The wrong direction again, hoping it's just water because I have been on target with food and been moving a lot more.

Good job guys. Tim, just stick with it, it will happen. I think I must have stopped and started a half dozen times in the last two years and I finally got a groove. Just keep looking for your stride, you'll find it.
