Ah, so there is still hope. Is there less hope if I already exercise 6x per week? I'm doing mostly cardio right (30-120 min per day) now because every time I add in weight training I end up gaining both weight and inches.

Ok, I haven't made it through all 10 pages of this thread, but I really appreciate all the research and citations. Is anyone else freaked out about the idea that when you diet, you slow your metabolism down *forever*?!?! Please tell me there is research out there that shows you can rev your metabolism back up. I'm 5'1",…

As a former gymnast myself, I can totally see where you're coming from. I still have pretty big shoulders and legs and all that, but I have managed to lose a bunch of my muscle. Let me say first, that I don't recommend trying to lose your fabulous arms and legs. I lost some of my muscle by eating fairly low protein (like…

I'm 5'1" and am shooting for 108-110lbs. I don't have too far to go, so mainly I'm working on toning. I decided on my goal weight based on what weight I would be if I had the same lean body mass and around 20% body fat.

I am vegetarian as well (technically pescatarian, but I don't eat fish very often at all). I aim for 90g+ of protein per day and usually get most of it from low fat cottage cheese, nonfat greek yogurt, beans, and whey protein powder. I'm also a fan of Clif Builders bars and Luna Protein bars. If you eat eggs, they are a…

I'm afraid I don't have a good suggestion for protein powder that tastes amazing. (But I've seen lots of good suggestions in other replies, so I think you're set.) I do, however, have a tip for making your vanilla protein powder more palatable so you can get through the rest of the container. I've been blending my…

If you have a local park with a jungle gym within walking/jogging distance you could definitely use that for pull-ups and such! That's what I used to do when I was without a gym membership.

I'm vegetarian and aiming for 100g per day as well. I get pretty close, but I eat a lot of cottage cheese, greek yogurt, and whey protein shakes. Feel free to glance at my diary. :)

I've been pescatarian for about five years now, and I'm a big fan. I don't eat fish very often, maybe once every couple months. I get my protein from beans, nuts, yogurt, eggs and cheese. Add me if you like.

Congratulations! You look incredible! What an inspiration!

I just wanted to put out there that there are some vegetarians out there (myself and my husband included) who eat plenty of fruits and veggies. I also know many omnivores who eat lots of veggies as well. I think how many vegetables has more to do with your overall food choices than whether or not you eat meat.

I'm also a vegetarian athlete and love to cook. I recommend the student vegetarian cookbook for some quick and easy recipes. It's especially good if you're on a tight budget or only need to cook for yourself. I also love looking at the vegetarian recipes on skinnytaste.com. For high protein and low calories I would turn to…
