I want instructors who are knowledgeable. I care about what they can teach me and how they can help me reach my goals. It doesn't matter to me if they are male/female, overweight/underweight/at goal, tall/short, ect. I don't care what an instructor looks like, and it doesn't matter to me if where they are on their fitness…

You go to the gym for YOU, so yours is the only opinion that really matters.

In an attempt to improve moral, my company started offering different perks. One of them was to hire a fitness guru and dietician to do an optional 12 week seminar. (One hour, one day a week presentation.) About half of the people signed up for it, and one of them is my brother, who is underweight. It was crazy how many…

I say go ahead and explain things to your friends- at least the close ones. You might even find that some of them had been thinking about getting healthy and will join you in your endeavors. I have found that people will be the most supportive when you take the time to explain WHY your eating habits are changing. Don't get…

It seems many people believe that making a change in your life must mean you don't like who you are. Perhaps they assume that deep down you must feel that you just aren't 'good enough.' And that very well may be true for some, but not all people. I believe that it's also VERY possible to decide to make a change because you…

That is really not typical of a run. I believe it could be an indication you might be working at too high of a level for you, but I suggest you talk to your doctor to be sure. It's possible you have an undiagnosed condition. I have had that happen once- it was when I first started running. I hadn't be active for years and…

I will like or comment on the updates that appear on my homepage, but I don't have time to go to all of my friends logs every day and make sure they are logging in/eating healthy. If a particular friend ASKS for extra support, I wouldn't mind doing that and helping him/her get on track. However I do believe that…

The time of day that you exercise might also me affecting things. I used to work out after work and half the time I felt too exhausted to go. I changed my work schedule and started going before work- found I had a lot more energy then. But you also need to keep in mind that lifestyle changes don't happen over night. Take…

I am one of the slowest runners I know, but I DO run, I have a great time, and I always lap all the couch potatoes. So that's good enough for me right now.

Feel free to add me as well.

I haven't had that happen, but I have heard people say nasty things in regards to weight loss. I have to think a large part of it is their own insecurities. Some people can only feel good about themselves when they put others down. Other times it's people being jealous about someone else's success or dedication to their…

Yes! This is exactly what I see. I have relatives that diet twice a year- 500 calories per day for several weeks. They drop weight like crazy everytime. But then again, they need to do it again 6-8 months later since they've gained it all back. They keep telling me I need to do it with them if I am "serious" about weight…

I have a friend who does similar things. Sometimes I think our society has become too immediate. People want a fast cure for their weight loss, they don't want to hear it takes time, effort and dedication. Sometimes it seems like people just keep asking because they didn't get the answer they wanted.

Hi, I'm Angela. I'm about a year into eating healthier, running and weight training. In a bit of a slump due to a torn muscle that makes workout difficult, so I'd love extra support.

I think it will be a personal thing. Are you going to remember to wear it or check it during the day/week? I have a fitbit one and the aria scale. I love it and feel lost without it. I have also been VERY impressed with the customer service I get from fitbit. They are fantastic over there and have solved my two issues very…

I will go to a family party where treats are served and find that sometimes when I turn it down, I have a family member say something like "Oh, come on, have some ice cream! What good is life if you can't enjoy it?" And I just try to explain that I do have treats on special occasions. (For example, my children's…
