I had a similar issue after a big pasta meal this past Saturday (but not 12 lbs). I felt like crud after eating so much and then I really felt like it was some kind of sodium bloat and overload...my stomach even looked bloated for the next two days! I really stuck to the calorie count the next 3 days afterwards and kept…

Yikes! Haven't seen anything like that at my gym yet.

I saw the video interview of the woman and she put on the outfit and I couldn't understand why she needed to cover up - she had on a top that was like a sports bra and then sweatpants that were like capris. I did not find it too revealing or offensive at all. She was just starting at this club since she had had some…

I just finally bought a new one - I had a electronic digital Weight Watchers scale I probably bought at least 5 years ago and it was always temperamental. Sometimes it would show 0 when you were on it - you had to be standing just right. I hated it, so found a new one that had good ratings on Amazon.com and it was $25. One…

I've been running for multiple years, and my pace can vary widely - but I guess if I found an average, it would probably be (depending on the distance) between 9:45-10:00. The best pace I have had in a 10 mile race was 8:57. During runs during the week, when I am going maybe 4-6 miles, I might be running 9:15-9:45 per…

I have been on MFP for about 5 weeks. I had also set out to lose 10-15 lbs and I have lost 11 so far. I am sticking close to the 1200 calorie plan and usually do not "eat back" calories I have earned thru exercise. I didn't have a lot to lose either so we sound like we have a similar goal, and running is also usually my…

Way to go! It will get easier and easier the more you do it!

I like this idea of wearing the bikini to get used to it - I never feel comfortable in a swimsuit, no matter what kind I wear or what my weight is - I feel like my bum is hanging out, or my stomach....I just feel weird. The tanning lotion I believe helps also - I always feel like it covers flaws or whatever.

My experience has been that when I track the calories/food and keep it at a certain level, then I will lose weight. If I just fly by the seat of my pants, I eventually start getting lax and eat more than I should and the weight creeps back on.

I would recommend consuming water during such a long run. It helps if you can take small sips rather than trying to gulp down a full cup at once. I also find the gels beneficial in long runs. I have done multiple 10-mile races and last year, I ran my first half-marathon in August and the second one in October. I think my…

Try different activities and see which one you really like, whether it is a Zumba class, riding a bike, walking, or running. Many years ago I started exercising consistently and it really does/can be an easy part of your day. For years, I also had done it first thing in the morning and that was great - there was no excuse…

Great job! I always feel great too if I can bake something for my son and not eat the dough! I made him chocolate chip cookies last week and did not sample the dough, and out of the entire batch of cookies, I only ate a half of one, even though the cookies were waving to me every time I was in the kitchen! Then, I had to…

Shoes are so important - having the appropriate running shoes should greatly help, and I think starting with slow jogs while walking would help. Don't try to do too much too fast and don't try too fast of a pace. Your legs will gradually adapt and get used to it.

I ran two half-marathons (my first one ever in August and then another in Oct) and have done multiple 10-miler races I would advise what others have said - don't try anything new - not new socks, not new clothing, not new shoes, and not new food, the day of the race. In the couple of days leading up to it, eat plenty of…

I have just started using Blue Diamond Almond Vanilla Milk (30 calories per cup) . I just had it on cereal this morning and it tasted fine to me. I don't eat cereal as much as I used to but I enjoyed it with the almond milk vs my usual skim milk. It is really expensive compared to a gallon of skim milk but since my kids…

I only have one time I think, because I just wanted to see what would come up. A lot of the time, I'm doing it in bits and pieces instead of a non-stop cleaning session.

Great time-saving idea!

I have only been using MFP for just over a month and signed up mainly to be able to use the logging tool for food as I knew that this would be the key to losing the weight. I've been very good about the logging so far. One thing that helps me in already having an idea of how many calories I'm "spending" is eating the same…

I am a runner and have run for years, and the only comments anyone has made to me that made me self-conscious was my ex as he used to say my form was dorky (hey, he's the only one that has ever said it and at least I'm trying to do something healthy)! Whenever I see someone larger running, I always think "great job" and…

I have not taken appetite suppressants but what I do sometimes (besides trying to drink more water) is drink green tea. I think it helps, and it takes a while to sip as it is hot tea. I would also check on what other people have recommended on eating enough protein, fat, and fiber but even that doesn't always help me out…

I've had good experiences with Sauconys and Brooks. I've often ordered Sauconys because they have plenty of room in the toe area without having a lot of excess slack along the sides. I often order shoes online but only started doing that after getting a bit of an assessment done at a running store. They looked at my old…

Peas - just smelling them makes me gag Green peppers - ewww! Don't like most cooked veggies except carrots. Raw veggies are better (broc, cauliflower, etc) but not my favorites. I do like spinach, cucumbers, mushrooms, and tomatoes (but must be cut up small!). Thank goodness I love fruit!

Hi, I'd love to get added in. I've set up a goal of 1200 each day, and most days I have been sticking to it. I usually exercise every day and "earn back" more calories but I've been still sticking to the 1200 on most days (not all though, such as when we went on vacation and on a couple of days where there were parties or…

I love using the crock-pot also. Here's a fairly healthy, quick and easy recipe for a chicken tortilla soup that can cook for hours. I often don't even really measure all of the ingredients as it is very forgiving and you can doctor it up how you'd like. Approximately 36-48 oz. of chicken broth (usually at least one large…

One good natural brand to try is the Costco (Kirkland) brand. It is made only with Valencia peanuts and sea salt, so there is no added sugar, preservatives, or oils. It is very good - not as sweet as Jif or Skippy but then it doesn't have all that added stuff in it. I store it in the fridge. It is not quite as creamy as…

Thank you!

Hi, I'm a little nervous because in one week, I need to have relatively minor surgery (bladder thing) and I won't be able to exercise like I normally do for 6 weeks. I will be able to start walking but no lifting anything heavier than 10 lbs for 6 weeks, no running....and I'm nervous that it will be difficult to manage my…

I am 52 and just joined today. I am hoping to lose 10 lbs. What has helped me in the past is tracking my food so I'm hoping that I can do this online and keep tabs on my food intake.

I just signed up for this website as I would like to lose about 10 lbs, but I am not sure what weight I'd like to be....I am 5'5" and currently at 140 because of bad eating habits during the holidays. I am pretty active - I run, ski, bike, or do some sort of aerobic exercise 6 days a week and so have a bit of muscle...but…
