I personally try to eat the calories burned. Some days, I am just not hungry and don't feel I need them. But yes, you are SUPPOSED to eat the calories burned so that you maintained your minimum of calories for the day :)

Can you use a stationary bike? Maybe you can find a used one on Craiglist to save money. That should be an exercise that is easy on the knees. I would also continue walking if that doesn't hurt your knees. Then you can add in some strength training to your arms with hand weights. Good luck!

Okay, say your calorie goal for each day is 1500. It's the end of the day and you ate your 1500 calories...but then you go exercise and you burn 500 calories. Well, now you are down to 1000 calories for the day. You need to be at 1500 calories. So you need to consume an extra 500 calories so that you are back up to 1500.…
