Thank you! I am repeating week one cause I havnt made it all the way through yet. Taking it slow is ok with me; I am seeing minor improvement...

Very inspirational. I have the same amount to loose; you've inspired me that it can be done! According to my math; you did almost 2 pounds per week; averaged over the whole time. Very impressive.

Absolutely. Before I was diagnosed, I would fall asleep if I sat still more than 10 minutes. I was almost always tired, living off caffeine to stay alert. You will learn in the classes how Low and High BS can cause fatigue and how to recognize it. Since I have gotten my BS to a normal range; I have a lot more energy,…

I was just diagnosed 4 months ago and went through what you are describing. It is a lot to take in and digest (pun intended) I echo what Lynn said. Take a diabetes education class. The Doctor is important, but he can only spend a few minutes with you. The diabetes educators can spend hours and I found it extremely helpful.…

Thank you! Good luck to you as well. Let me know how it goes with you.

Thank You. I did download the C25K app and did day one today. I was excited to start, but I learned I may need to work into it a bit slow. The app had me walk for a minute then run for 30 seconds and it repeats this a few times. Well; after the 2nd time I was totally spent; had to walk the rest of the 30 minutes. I have…

I was happy with the A1C improvement. I was predicting it to come in at 5.5 The conversion charts say that and A1C is the rough equivalent of BG reading of 90. So it basically says my average BG over three months is 90. My BG tracking app (where i record my finger pricks) says my average over the 3 months is 100. But then…

I will often eat some yogurt or cheese with some berries for that reason. But I need to keep the fruit quantity pretty low as it will spike my BG no matter what I eat it with. I used to juice but have pretty much given it up. I found I much prefer to eat the food than to grind it up. Test your plan yourself by testing BG…

Wow; that is great! Amazing progress in such a short time. I am particularly interested in this because I was diagnosed in late Dec with close to the same numbers you initially had. I just had my 3 month lab done and am impatiently waiting for the results. I should have them any day now. I can only hope my progress is as…

First; Welcome aboard. From your description it sounds like the practitioner could use some customer service skills. I hope your experience at your new doctor is better. Just a comment i noticed; if you are trying to not eat a lot before a blood test choosing an apple and nuts probably isn't the best choice. Apples are…

1. Cold Turkey on Sodas, sweet tea, and juice 2. Lowered Crabs to < 180 a day (little to no white carbs - bread, potato, rice...) 3. Tracking food on MFP I've been loosing 1-2 lbs a week for last 3 months just doing that. Hope to add some consistent exercise next.

I read that link the first time you posted it, which is why I was compelled to clarify that it does not say that diabetes was cured; it says the symptoms were controlled by diet. And if you read the case studies of the people who actually did it; they tell you their BG is only under control with low carb eating. They know…

Thanks for the encouragement. You are both an inspiration. I have already taken a diabetic education class (6 sessions) and it was extremely helpful. Although I haven't gotten my 3 month report card yet (lab results - waiting for a call any day now) I feel like the weight loss has been almost too easy. I was anticipating a…

I use Joseph's flatbread. Only 14 carbs (and 6 of them are fiber)for an entire slice and it is a big square.. Tastes good too. http://www6.netrition.com/josephs_bakery_lavash_bread.html

Then you would be the first documented case of diabetes being reversed. Go ahead and have a slice of cake: Someone without diabetes will get a tiny spike as their body adjusts the sudden rush of sugar to keep levels consistent. Someone with Diabetes will notice a rather large spike. Test your BS before you eat, then one…

This is true. And Congrats. But it's important to clarify that you have not reversed your diabetes. You have controlled it through proper eating and minimized or eliminated the potential complications. (which of course is great). But if you eat a piece of chocolate cake your BS will spike; if you reversed the diabetes; it…

Wow. This is inspirational! I am only three months in to my journey to get healthy and loose about 100lbs. This has really inspired me.
-
Congrats! You are doing great. On a similar journey myself. I am currently on Metformin, but hope to get off it sometime this year. I get my first 3 month "report card" (lab work) this week to see how I have done after my first three months.
-
Congrats! Great job

Ive heard several people rave about the Joseph's low carb pitas, but I cant find them anywhere except mail order. Are they in any chain stores?

I was diagnosed with Type II just in December; so I am new to the "club" and also a recovering carb addict. First; Log everything you eat accurately here on MFP. Its amazing how knowing what you eat is so helpful. It will also show you where your challenges are. My DR set a carb limit of 180 carbs a day for me (it may be…

30lbs in 3 months. Started Dec 22, 2013. Have 70lbs to go; and Im sure it will slow down from here on out. But I didnt put the weight on overnight; so Im ok with it taking a year or 2 to come off. I dont want to diet. I want to eat healthy the rest of my life.

Dont get the Force. It was recalled due to it causing rashes on people. The Flex has a problem with falling off your wrist as it has a real cheap clasp. Also IMHO looks cheesy. The One and the Zip you just clip on your shirt or pants pocket and work fine; and dont look geeky. I prefer the Zip as it takes a watch battery…

This thread is giving me motivation to want to post my before and after in about a year. I'm 3 months in and almost lost 30 lbs so far. About 70lbs to go...

I've been using Ontrack, but am testing out one from these folks which is quite interesting... https://mysugr.com/

Congratulations! I was diagnosed in Dec also and have labs scheduled for the end of this month (march). I hope I do as well as you. I need to add more exercise.

I did the same thing. Already sold the juicer on Ebay. It is much better to just eat the vegetables! I find its never good to go into a diet that isnt something you can do forever. It just messes up your metabolism. Eat good foods and excersize, and a calorie deficit will cause you to loose weight.

Im using Accucheck Aviva, only because thats the one my insurance company will pay a portion of the test strip cost. The strips end up costing me $12 for 50 out of pocket. I had a touch one before I found out the insurance wouldnt pay for that brand strips (i dont know why) So I tested with both meters one day from the…

I use Ontrack also for tracking glucose. I wish they would build this tracking into MyFitnessPal. That would make it perfect.
