  • Awesome post, trogalicious!!! Great information for those of us who are fairly new to all of this, thank you so much!!
  • Mom of 6 kids trying to lose that baby weight. Oh wait. Crap! I don't HAVE any kids - just my Mom's body - and the body of every female on my Mom's side of the family! We can all do this!
  • Just walk for now, even if it's just 15 minutes. Work your way up slowly. Focus more on your eating until you're more comfortable with the exercising part.
  • You can do this, Angie. I can't believe it's working for me. I was also very resistant at first about eating the whole 1200 calories, but I've read enough here to know that I need to. I don't eat back my exercise calories, but it's not like I'm doing P90XYZ or whatever that thing is. I don't weigh myself if I've eaten…
  • Two weeks from now IS kind of soon, but you know what? If you stick with this for the next two weeks, you will feel so good about yourself, that it will show in your body language and attitude. I'm new at this, too, and right now I'm taking it one day at a time, trying to keep to the calories and doing ANY kind of…
  • I prefer most things I drink to be room temperature, even soda. We have the individual little tubes of Crystal Light free at work in our break room, so I add that to water at work. I drink plain water at home. I don't care for water at all, but I make myself drink it now. I still have my Diet Mt. Dew in the morning at work…
  • You are a brave man, Prince Eric, I'm scared to DRIVE when it rains in San Diego.
  • When I gain weight and then lose, I don't lose much up top. Good grief, how much bigger can they get? I need to learn to embrace my lap-warmers.
  • Seriously? Trying to sneak on line at work, then I burst out laughing and get busted. Thanks a lot.
  • You can start over tomorrow, don't beat yourself up, and don't even let this ruin the rest of your day. I stress eat, too. Right now I'd like to fall into a vat of Cheetos and eat my way out.
  • I'm new at this and I haven't deliberately done cheat meals or cheat days, but I'm going to a house party on Saturday, so I'm going to be really, really good (under calories) on Friday and Sunday so I can enjoy myself and have some delicious food and chocolate wine.
  • Welcome back! You can do this!
  • I gave up drinking at home because of this. I was so annoyed when I added the calories that I just stopped. I'll still indulge when I go out socially, but at home? Just empty calories. Then again, I work with attorneys, so we'll see how long this lasts. :drinker:
  • Oatmeal for breakfast, then hot chocolate as a mid-morning snack. After doing lo-carb for so long, both are such a treat for me. I'm sure I'll get bored with it in a few years.
  • Carbs are not the devil! After doing low-carb for so SO long, I'm still a little hesitant to eat too many, but I can have my yummy oatmeal again without feeling guilty! Yay! I'm not knocking low-carb dieters at all, it worked for me when I followed it, but just by switching to MFP, I've lost 8 pounds. Eating carbs!! Who…
  • New here also - I've been going into the Recipe section and searching "breakfast" to come up with some new ideas.
  • Hi, Christie! You can add me, too. I grew up in an AF family and we were stationed in several places in Alaska, so I understand about the isolation, too.
  • Hi! I'm very new at this, but I'm a little encouraged. I got off to a good start, but I think that's normal with every diet. I also have a desk job and I'm in same age group as you. I don't have a problem munching at work, it's the evenings that are my weakness. Wow, it was so much easier to lose weight when I was in my…
  • I thought I was the only one who does that! It really does help, even if it's just to decide which snacks to have in between meals. I can choose the one that doesn't put me over my limits on anything.
  • OMGosh! I'm living for the day someone tells me I've lost too much weight! Here's a trick I sometimes use: Keep a little box of Tic Tacs (or whatever) in your pocket, at your desk, or just handy. When someone starts saying something rude or inappropriate, draw back, making a horrified face, and offer them a mint.…
