Like others have mentioned, have small amounts of the things you're craving after you've loaded up with veggies and/or soup. Drinking water before will help too. If I don't eat a decent salad before going to a buffet, I don't have the discipline to eat small amounts of anything!

I'm 6'4" and my goal weight is 210 (my high school weight). According to the BMI calculator that's technically still obese. I think it depends on your muscle mass, personal preference, and any other health concerns that a doctor may have.

If I know where I'm going, I'll scour the restaurant's website for nutritional information. And for those that don't, shame on them, but I try to find comparable foods on MFP (and pick the highest). I try to avoid buffets and Mexican food just because I can't trust myself.

When I was on "Slim 4 Life", they were avid proponents of EFAs. Their reasoning was that it helps keep your skin elastic. Is that true? I have no idea. But, I do take an Omega 3, 6 and 9 supplement as part of my regimen. It seems like there are health benefits that I would not necessarily get through my regular eating.

When we have Mexican food, I try to find comparable items from On The Border or other chain restaurants. It's approximate anyway. Smaller, mom-and-pop places (my preferred choice) won't have nutritional info. You could always build a recipe or my food if you're good at approximating amounts of ingredients.

I'm 38. I've lost 27 pounds since February. I don't have official before and after photos yet (not until I reach my goal), but I will say that my clothes fit better (I'm almost down to the last hole on my belt) and I feel healthier. It's not always easy, but definitely worth it! Feel free to add me if you'd like.

The radio conglomerate I work for provides a fresh fruit snack each afternoon. My "real" job in commercial banking has it's share of title companies bringing us lunch. When that's the case, I try to find out what they're bringing so I can make adjustments if need be.
