  • Meat fondue. We call it "Chinese fondue" here. It's basically a pot of hot soup, and you stick thin slices of meat into it with a long fork, cook it and eat it. There's various sauces on the side too. Those are the calorie bombs.
  • Interesting. I'm in! So far I'm at 121 minutes. Gonna have some catching up to do...
  • Hey! The friends I have are pretty quiet and I'd love some new ones who'll cheer as hard for me as I will for them. Not really looking for weight loss encouragment anymore, I'd like some workout friends. I run and recently got into weight lifting. Feel free to add me!
  • Hi! I was about to make a similar thread. Most of my friends are really quiet and I'd like to interact more with people on here. I'm an avid reader and I'm relatively new to lifting. I'm sending you a FR right now. All others, feel free to add me as well!
  • I'm a total hot sauce nut, got a whole slew of them. Classic Cholula is mild, but has great taste. I like the Chipotle flavored one too. I use the Thai Kitchen Sriracha style sauce for a lot of things, on burgers, eggs, dim sum... Then there are the really hot ones most people I know can't handle : I love 'Endorphin Rush'…
  • THIS! So true.
  • Yes, this! I personally only use olive oil, a dash of salt, pepper and spread a crushed clove of garlic over the asparagus before putting them in the oven. The garlic gets nice and crispy.
  • On the rare occasions where I do wake up early enough to squeeze in a workout before going to work, I personally prefer to eat after exercising. I don't like working out on a full stomach. But then, perhaps it depends on the type/intensity of the workout?
  • I did notice a huge difference. A couple of days after my last cigarette I went for an almost effortless 13 km run, while that would have been unthinkable during the time when I was smoking. My lungs cleared right up. But then, I did not quit running like you did...
  • Like I've said before, I don't believe in the use of substitutes to make quitting easier, and here's why : The fact that you rely on that patch/gum/ecig to help you through this 'difficult' transition only reinforces the thought that you're not strong enough on your own to make it. I understand why people use these things,…
  • The first time I used Allen Carr's EasyWay, which worked wonderfully for 3 years... Until I relapsed. I did only smoke for one month, however and knew I was going to quit, for good. This time I used 1) great timing, 2) willpower. I strongly believe that one does not need any substitute. In fact, quitting is so easy, it's…
  • ^this exactly! I remember the first time I went for a 'run', wearing totally inappropriate shoes. I went around the block and was left panting ant thinking that I'd NEVER do this again! But then I did go again. Bought some real running shoes. Ran a little farther, tried to breathe more easy. And so on. Nowadays I can run 7…
  • Excellent! Feel free to add me, I don't exactly cosplay but I went to LeakyCon these last two years and wore my Hogwarts Ravenclaw tie and carried my wand with me at all times. I'd love to share your fitness/weight loss journey and am always in need of people who'll keep me motivated.
  • This! My outside shoes have been well worn in and fit like a dream. I feel like switching between pairs would only... err, confuse my feet, I guess?
  • Hey! For me, I've used my Nike Free for a long time until they got so beat up I just had to buy new ones. The only reason I bought two pairs is I needed one for the gym and one for running outside. I can't really see a reason why you'd absolutely need two pairs to perform the same kind of training though.
  • Either rock or electronic music. When I work with weights, I usually go for heavy music : metal or dirty dubstep. When I do cardio (running, biking...) I usually go for faster paced music : techno, pop, punk.
  • It could be your Achilles tendon, which stretches all the way from your heel to the upper part of your calf. I had the same thing not long ago. In most cases, if the injury isn't too bad, icing and some rest will take care of the problem. If the issue persists, however, I'd recommend you seeing your doctor about it. Here's…
  • For running, I found that the following songs have that perfect beat/speed that's just right for me to run through the whole song non-stop at a fast pace : - "This Is Home" by Blink 182 - "Two More Years" and "Banquet" by Bloc Party - "Party Hard" by Andrew WK - "Failure's Not Flattering" by New Found Glory - "Play The…
  • Yup. It's all about the willpower. The good news is, it's totally doable! I sort of know what you mean though. Whenever I'm tempted to eat junk I stop to think before I buy it. I think to myself : "Okay, if you eat this, you're going to enjoy it for, what, 1 or 2 minutes? Then it's gone and you'll be left with feelings of…
  • Lately I've been in love with the Pumpkin coconut milk and lemongrass soup by Green Shoot. I add some vegetables and quinoa, shrimp or minced chicken and red or yellow curry paste and I get a delicious Thai soup out of it that I can't get enough of.
  • This. I didn't gain any weight when I quit, mainly because I started eating healthier at the same time and intensified my workouts. When the cravings hit (and they will at first but they actually don't last long if you're in the right mindset), just ignore them. Sounds easy, and it is. Or, if you really need to occupy your…
  • It wasn't that bad, but I did eat an entire chocolate bunny yesterdsay (a big one!) and some small choco eggs. I did an extra workout session later in the day to compensate and gave the remaining choco eggs to my coworkers, let them dispose of the evil. Today I'm back to being a good boy.
  • Personally, I didn't experience any weight gain when I quit, but that might only be because I wasn't very active when I was still smoking. When I quit is when I decided to live more healthily so I ate better and started exercising. So I suppose the lifestyle change was what kept my weight in check.
  • Love your positivity! There are certain things in life that are out of your hands, and that just won't go the way you want them to. I've had some bad experiences with people in my life who lived destructive lifestyles. No matter how hard I tried to help them, it never worked because they didn't want to change. It's sad but…
  • I love green tea and drink at least two cups a day. I'm not sure if it'll help with weight loss, but it is delicious! There's an infinite array of different flavors to choose from. I pick full leaf tea whenever possible, but I use tea bags when I prepare my cuppa at work.
  • I never wear my glasses when I exercise. If I go running or biking I'll wear my contacts. If I workout at home, I'm fine with not seeing very far. :)
  • Same here! Mine's always available. I'm on a mission to try out new recipes lately, maybe it'll inspire you?
  • The Conjuring. 't was alright, but haunted house/possession/exorcism movies are getting old.
