Switzerland! Hey everyone. Feel free to add me, I could do with some new, active friends. :)

Although it's by far not the longest run I ever did it felt amazing when I beat a speed record last week : 2.5 miles in 32 minutes. And also, recently deadlifting 298 lbs after being a relative weakling most of my life.

Been doing it for two and a half years now, so yeah... guess I'm an addict. But it works for me, I feel I need the accountability.
-
Excellent! Keep up the momentum. :)

Right now, 12 miles. I recently moved and the membership to my old gym runs out at the end of the month. After that, I'll make shorter trips.

Pretty fantastic. My wife and I took advantage of the sunny weather and took a turn on the lake of Geneva with a pedal boat. It was fun! I did eat a lot over the weekend, but I also had a monster weight session at the gym on Saturday and an intense bodyweight workout yesterday, so I'm hoping it'll sort of make up for it.

If I drink, I'll always make it fit into my daily cals. I usually go for beer, my favorite is Brewdog's Punk IPA. Or absinthe after a heavy meal. It is actually excellent for digestion.

Usually, when I'm away on vacation, and want to eat all the delicious local foods I will often end up over my daily cal goal. But I'll still log as accurately as possible. Not reason to break my streak!

First of all, congrats on making this decision. It's a pretty big deal and I remember starting out just as clueless when I did. Here's a great article with lots of tips for newbies in the gym : https://www.nerdfitness.com/blog/a-beginners-guide-to-the-gym-everything-you-need-to-know/

Take it slow. No need trying to do everything at once. Here's a helpful article for newbies in the gym : https://www.nerdfitness.com/blog/a-beginners-guide-to-the-gym-everything-you-need-to-know/

I guess daily? Although the type of workout varies. I aim to walk up to at least 10'000 steps every day. If I can fit it in, I do some bodyweight/dumbbell exercising at home in the evening for 30-40 minutes 2 or 3 times a week. And on the weekend I go running and do a heavy weight lifting sesssion in the gym.

As a Swiss guy, I oddly enough hate cheese in most forms. But other than that, dairy does occasionally pop up in my diet. I love ice cream and frozen yogurt, for instance, and would never be able to cut it completely. But even though in the past I used to have lots of it, I did stop drinking milk almost entirely. Anyway,…

Doesn't happen to me all that often, but just last night I woke up craving something to eat and had 3 small cookies, against my better judgment. Oh well, I'll walk it off today.

Congrats! As time goes by it'll get even easier and you'll probably start developing a sense of familiarity with the place. I can only tell from my experience, but since I avoid machines, using only free weights, squats would be one of the best exercises you can do. Try starting with small handheld weights, progressing…

Chocolate chip cookies. Oh how I love them. Oh how I hate them!

What a tremendous transformation! Great job, man!

It's interesting how different things work for different people. Personally, I can't run without music. I custom design my playlist before every run, switching between fast and more moderate tunes. I have some great songs that I can run to in perfect synchronicity. Music keeps me in the zone!

Hey! I'm always happy to share tips and fitness experiences with others.

I have the Beats Wireless ones, they connect via Bluetooth and have amazing sound, plus they stay in place with no problem. Makes a world of difference not to have a wire bumping up against your chest all the time and/or getting caught in stuff. Pricey as well, but I have no regrets.

I've been lifting for a bit over a year now, so I guess I qualify? Feel free to add me!
-
Wow, already a tremendous difference! Keep up the great work!

Japanese pop-metal band 'Babymetal' is always on my playlist lately. Highly recommended if you want something new and fresh! Other than that, I go for fast beats when running and heavier music for lifting. Here are some of my favorites (big fan of Japanese music, fair warning!) : Running : ATB - "Twisted Love", "Emotion"…

Awesome! I know how you feel. I used to have pretty bad asthma as a kid and was always winded after running in PE. Now, being able to run and actually enjoy it, seeing improvements is an amazing feeling! Keep it up.

Not saying it's better, but for the weight room I think it works as it definitely has more of kick to it.
