I love PB too! I like it on celery, on apples, on graham crackers, on a sandwich thin with sliced apples and cinnamon, mixed with some ice and milk and banana in the blender... Mmmm.... I Love PB!

I'm not sure what my goal is! I am 5'1" and have met my initial goal and am below 130, so I'm going to keep doing what I'm doing and find out where my body feels the most comfortable. I'm thinking it will probably be between 120-125.

YES! Mine is set for 1/2 lb. per week, but it's usually well over that. For the last 6 weekly weigh-ins, my weight loss has been: 1.8 lbs 0.5 lbs 1.1 lbs 1.1 lbs 1.5 lbs. 0.2 lbs. Total = 6.2 lbs. I'm a firm believer that you need to eat to lose! Edit: I also try to eat all but 100-200 of my exercise calories.

I'm going to venture and say that we all get tempted to compare ourselves (or God forbid, our spouse or significant other) to others around and have to come to the conclusion that there will always be someone that ranks a little higher on the sexy chart, as viewed by our society. I suppose we could all just move to a…

I would agree with this! I couldn't lose anything when I netted below 1200 calories per day. I cut my weekly goal from 1 lb/week to 0.5 lb/week and try to eat back enough exercise calories to be sure that I'm above 1200 net for the day. Since I've done that, I've lost more than a half pound most weeks and have exceeded my…

This is just my personal opinion from my own experience (sorry...), but if it weren't for someone telling me what worked for them, I am almost certain that I would never have met my goal, despite all the "facts" given to me by MFP and its experts. I am very thankful for some well-meaning individuals who cared enough to…

I have a very old stationary bike (not recumbent) and the only way I've found to get the heart rate into zone and keep it there is to pedal faster. Otherwise, it does tend to stay lower, even with heavy resistance. I'm not sure why, as my legs sure are telling me that I'm working hard!

If your target weight is reasonable, then I definitely think it's possible. I originally set my goal for the high end of the BMI scale, but now I'm working to lose 5-7 extra pounds, and then we'll see what I look like from there. For me, I wasn't able to move the scales much until I lowered my weekly weight loss goal…

Are you eating enough calories? I didn't lose much of anything at 1200 calories, but have lost consistently since I lowered my weekly goal to 0.5 lbs per week. Apparently, my body needed the extra calories to give up the fat, and most weeks I've lost more than a half pound. I also try to make sure that my exercise breaks a…

Thank you! I was starting to feel like a louse! lol I read sporadically while I run on a treadmill (not terribly fast but not slow, either... 5-5.5mph). Every couple minutes, I check my progress and then read another page or two. I find it helps me to think less about the sweat that's dripping off my elbows and my labored…

It's calories in, calories out, so however you want those calories to fit in is fine. I tend to eat most of my calories in the evening, so it's whatever works for you. Not sure what to say on the olive oil vs. butter. They're both natural fats that have been around forever, so my opinion would be that it's your preference.

When I first joined, I tried to force myself to eat breakfast, but it's just not me. So, now I make myself a mocha and generally don't eat until 11:00 or so. I've still been losing, so I don't think breakfast is necessary for weight loss.

For me, eating less of the same foods is more sustainable for the rest of my life. It allows me to eat normal foods at gatherings and at mealtimes with my families, but still lose weight. I don't feel like I'm on a diet or deprived of what I enjoy. It boils down to calories in, calories out, so whatever works for you is…

You did the right thing, Mom! :flowerforyou:

Thanks is always in order. If you're still over your normal BMI, you might let them know that you'd at least like to know what it feels like to be technically "normal"! That's not unrealistic. Before I met my goal, I had a lady compliment me and say, "You're not going to lose any more, are you?" and I let her know I still…

Sometimes, women have hormonal imbalances after having a baby or in peri-menopause that affect weight loss. I had some pretty serious imbalances, and, like you, was very discouraged with eating right and some exercise with no results. I lowered my carbs to about 150 grams per day and raised my calorie limit by about 200…

Wouldn't we all like the magic potion for familial peace and tranquility! I'm not a perfect parent, either. I think feeling like a bad mommy comes with the territory! I don't scream at my kids, although I do occasionally need to raise my voice (sometimes just to be heard above their yelling at each other!). Sometimes, I do…

There's no need to feel like you're about to get slammed! Nobody's telling you that you have to eat meat. It's just a right that you can exercise if you want... kind of like voting. There are quite a few passages that let us know that eating meat was something that God approved of... Think of the Passover meal…

Just got my FT4 over the weekend. I had a strapless Mia Drive one before (which aren't able to give a continuous reading) and the FT4 gives a much lower reading. The FT4 reading is also quite a bit lower than the treadmill's calorie burn estimate, which is a one-size-fits-all number. Thankfully, I never gave myself all the…

I don't think there is anything wrong with that, if it's what you like and you're eating enough "good" food to keep your body supplied in energy. The most important thing for maintenance is doing something that you can sustain forever. I eat a lot of nuts, too, and I've been steadily losing weight. That's just my 2 cents,…

If I'm hungry at bedtime, I grab a snack. Usually a graham cracker with peanut butter or a handful of nuts. If I have to go over to do it (which is almost never), I still wouldn't feel guilty because I think my body is telling me to eat for a good reason.

I'm 5'1" and my goal right now (just 2 lbs away!!! ) is just to have a normal BMI at 130.9, and then drop a few more to get to about 125, which will give me a little breathing room! My calorie limit is set for 0.5 lbs per week, which is right at 1360 per day right now. (I started at 1200 calories per day, but…

I can relate to that. I've told my husband not to worry about buying anything for me. I really don't need anything and feel guilty about using our finances for things I don't really need and it's hard to buy for a person like that. What I have suggested for this year is to buy something that we both will enjoy and use…

Oddly enough, for me, I think the key is to just do it, whether you feel like you have the energy or not. It will help you to feel good and give you more energy at the same time. It takes 2 weeks to set a habit, so just make a deal with yourself to set aside a little chunk of time to get the ball rolling. Good luck!

Have you tried cutting back on the number of carbs and see how you feel? And, do you have any other symptoms besides bloating? I, personally, have to watch my carbs, good or bad, or I start getting symptoms that mimic PMS. I've found if I keep it under 150, I feel good and the weight will come off. If it goes much higher…

The worst for me is "The 12 Days of Christmas".

Yep. I think part of it is that it hasn't been cold enough to get used to it, but even 40-50 degree weather requires a sweatshirt!

I have heard that blackstrap molasses is good for excessive hair growth. I use it to help balance out my hormones, but have never had a problem with facial hair. I'm not sure if it actually works or not, but I've been consistently losing weight, so it can't be hurting me! LOL (Note: It's pretty strong, so I recommend…

Point taken! :flowerforyou: I think what you're saying is that rather than carbs, our bodies need glucose, which can be converted from fat by the liver. However, I still think I'll stick to my "moderately" low carb diet, for the simple fact that it's more sustainable in our culture and I'm still steadily losing weight.…

I would start it low (maybe around 50 grams) and then bump it up to see where your body starts complaining and your weight loss stalls. Your brain needs carbs, so you don't want to keep it much lower than your body can handle. Also, from what I understand of insulin resistance, it will improve with weight loss, so you may…
