Go see your Doctor....NOW!!!

HUH, my dads belt used to motivate me also, but not like that, Ha!

Suggest a Doctors visit before starting a gym regimen. Also consultation with a nutritionist. They will help you set reasonable goals, and PROPER exercise expectations. Exercise without food knowledge is usually wasted effort.

Protein, Potein, Protein. MUSCLE FOOD.

Got it.

Let us know if it works better than the ice cream, potato chip, and bourbon diet.

After fifty years married, I'd say she wants your attention. Having a young child consumes her day, so.... made like a Lothario and make her nights magic. YES!! I'm talking about a good long romantic session, rose buds and wine. Make HER special, and I bet she'll stop nagging. BE THE MAN!

Substitute honey for sugar. 1/2 tsp is as sweet as the sugar you now use.

Anytime fitness centers have trainers who give free training advice designed just for you. A gym workout gives better feed back than home. Hard to procrastinate in a public setting, lol.

This is an old Grandmothers remedy; using a real lemon, cut it in half, and whenever you feel the urge to eat.....lick the lemon repeatedly until the urge goes away. I know it sounds wacky. I thought so too, forty-four pounds ago.

At five months into my gym membership, I was asked to pose for the "Highlight" member of the month photo.

Stopped eating "white" food for a month. No rice, white bread, or potatoes, etc. Lost 7lbs.

eat ice cream and enjoy life. lol. 5%, according to MFP blogs is not sustainable. You can get there, but only for a short period of time,( one to three days). Like just before a body competition event. Not a goal to keep long term.

you don't say what his diet is like, but being in a like circumstance, 6'2", 240, I feel I can address this. Your husband probably is doing what most do, not eating enough good protein calories. When I started working out six month's ago I gained weight from not eating enough and my body thought I was starving and stored…

So, let me get this right, you as a 36 year old man, check out your own butt in a mirror. Strange.

I have found that the time of day that I eat isn't as important as WHAT I eat. Four or five small balanced meals certainly work better than three big ones, if your goal is weight loss. Try adjusting the time you eat and fool your brain into not thinking it's time to eat. Changing times does help.

Got took forty-four years ago.

But isn't chocolate a basic food group?:ohwell:

Watch the carbs. By restricting carbs you force your body to convert fat, and because of weight training not muscle, into sugars for fuel. You may not lose any weight at first, but you will lose fat. It takes time for your mind to adjust your metabolism. Give it six months. I for one think you'll do fine. I'm 65, 6'2",235…

Connect with a nutritionist. Put all the B.S. aside.

I'm 65 and carry weight around my waist. I've always been big, 6'2" 235lbs. So now, being older I work out for me. Let me clue you to something.....nobody. cares what you look like! Any serious person realizes that you are working to better yourself, and will encourage your efforts. If those at your gym do not...change…

Protein smoothies within 30minutes of completion of workout. My favorite; banana, strawberries, unsweetened chocolate powder, half cup of egg white, and 12oz of 2 percent milk. Blend and enjoy. Massive protein calorie boost... approx. 450.

I just say I'm on the new meatloaf and mashed potato diet.

I too thought "pounds=progress". I have found weight loss, by itself is not a good success measurement. Try going with weekly inches measurement. Because, yes, you must eat to lose weight while exercising, your body shape will begin to change first before weight loss.
-
suggest you read up on the "starvation mode" your body goes into if you don't consume enough calories. Lack of calories alone do not a thin person make.

Get away from the major cities. To really see America, you need to go to " Fly over County". Try out the med-west, Illinois, Iowa, Kansas, Oklahoma, or for a really mind blowing trip, the Badlands of North Dakota. An unbelievably beautiful place. Not much for nightlife, but still worth the trip.

I hear you. I cut my caloric intake by 2000 cal per week, and started exercising in a gym, thirty mins cardio, one-to one and a half hours of weight work, EVERY day for the last three months and I too have gained five pounds. So, like you I say " what the heck??"
