  • I had the Mirena IUD for a whole 2 weeks. It caused me so much pain I had to have it removed. I managed to gain 3 pounds in that 2 weeks because I was basically constantly eating ice cream and yummy things in hopes of taking my mind off the pain. Didn't work.
  • I eat lots of eggs and my cholesterol is fantastic. When my cholesterol was slightly up one year (still not bad, just not as good as the year before) my doctor attributed it to my fast food habit that had been more out of hand that year. I cut back on the fast food, cholesterol went down again.
  • I started doing push-ups on the wall (I was really a weenie), then moved to my table, then a chair, and now I'm on the floor doing real push ups! It works great.

  • Dehydration can also lead to muscle cramps.
  • Tomatoes and lettuce can cause heartburn issues. I have a friend who has terrible heartburn when she eats lettuce, but when she substitutes spinach for lettuce she is fine.
  • When I was doing split exercises (legs one day, then arms) my workouts were shorter, 20-30 minutes. Now I'm doing full body workouts, they're 45 minutes or so but I do them less often so it's probably about the same amount of time.
  • Pictures can be evil. I have one picture of me that I won't even let anyone see because I look really pregnant in it....and I totally wasn't. Makes you start doubting what the mirror shows.
  • I'm in this same boat. 5' 4", 126ish, would like to be about 120. Can't seem to get below 125. I know it's still a perfectly healthy weight but I still have plenty of belly jiggly-ness that I want gone. Actually don't even care about weight so much if I could improve my body composition. I've made some headway since I…
  • Super-low sugar. It eliminates SO MANY foods.
  • It took me a long time to see the visible changes but that's because they're so gradual. It helps to take progress pictures, it seems more visible then.
  • You don't have to accept being a weenie weakling.
  • Second this. It's the only thing that has showed any sign of working for me. It's been slow going but I'm seeing improvement.
  • I started doing bodyweight exercises over a year ago, using You Are Your Own Gym. It's a great program, but I felt I'd progressed as much as I could with it so I started with actual weights about a month ago and am loving it! I never would have thought I would enjoy it but I really do. Aside from the improvement in my…
  • I just started it and am liking it so far. I've been doing body weight only and felt like it was time to progress to weights. Seems like it's a good intro to lifting.
  • A few years ago I lost 20 pounds and got down to 114 pounds. Even at 114 I was "skinny fat". My doctor told me I needed to start strength training because lighter women tend to lose bone density over time. I started strength training, since then I have gained 14 pounds....but I have not gone up any sizes or inches, may…
  • I've read several articles now stating that this is a myth. If I even try to drink that much I don't get anything done because I'm in the bathroom all day. I drink when I'm thirsty and extra when I work out, but I don't stress out if I don't get that much water.…
  • When this happens I will play with the number of servings until the number is right....like saying you're having "1.25" servings of oatmeal instead of 1.
  • I just used that calculator to see what I would get....it gave me 300 more calories per day than MFP gives with the same info put in and the same weight loss goal. It's higher than any calculator I've ever tried. Maybe it's a little off?
  • Some of my family members have brought up the eating disorder thing with me.....I think it's a combination of things. Growing up, I was always very underweight. When I first reached my full height of 5' 4", I only weighed 85 pounds. This was not on purpose, just the way I was. Over the years and kids I gradually gained…
  • Body recomp generally means you are eating at maintenance calories, not a surplus. I ate at a surplus of only about 100 calories a day and still gained weight gradually. Do you actually mean a surplus of 1600 calories, or is that your total daily calories?
  • Everywhere but my stomach....which is where it needs to come off!
  • You'll be a lot hungrier with 1200 calories of cake....
  • I am hypoglycemic (very mild), but I rarely have issues anymore. I used to eat a very high sugar diet (lots of oreos, candy and pop) and found that once I cut that out and started eating healthier food I rarely have issues anymore. I also went to a dietitian who gave me some really good guidelines about what types of foods…
  • I'm apple shaped, and have a bit of a belly that is hard to squish into the smaller sizes. My legs are like matchsticks though, it's just when I get to the belly that it gets uncomfortable.
  • I am 5' 4", and even when I was 102 pounds I bought the "B" size because the A's were uncomfortably tight. I actually started wearing thigh-highs because I got tired of not being able to breathe when wearing nylons.
  • I have asthma and I just don't run. I walk and do strength training mostly, with an occasional HIIT session thrown in. One other thing I have done is walk with short spurts of running (1-2 minutes) in the middle. Walk for 4 minutes, run for 1 minute, etc. That seems to keep me from getting winded. But if doctors are…
  • My weight is fine by the charts but for my own taste I still have too much of a belly. I was on maintenance for a while but wasn't happy so I'm trying to drop a few more.
  • I've been cold my entire life! People at work joke about my drawer full of sweaters, but I need those things! Even when I weighed a little more I was still cold. I have been doing strength training lately, and have added some muscle, which has helped a bit. I'm just going to plan on being cold forever, and maybe moving…
  • You can do it and you will be so much healthier from not smoking!
  • I work out in the evening but I am a night person naturally. I try not to do it too late, though. Usually 6-8 pm is my window. I've heard that for some people it interferes with sleep if you go too late.
