  • In middle school and high school everyone who didn't know me well thought I had an eating disorder. I was 5' 4" and 85 pounds. I have a small frame, ate whatever I wanted and however much I wanted, and never gained weight. I also had no muscles. Pretty much just skin and bones. I had one teacher who would stalk me in the…
  • I love nerd humor! This is the best thing I've seen in ages.
  • I'm just starting out here, so I don't know a whole lot...but I don't think treadmill counts as strength training, it's cardio. Please someone let me know if I'm wrong!
  • My friends are quite supportive, but my family not so much. They range from telling me I must be anorexic because I hardly eat anything to saying "It must be nice to eat whatever you want and still be skinny." Well, which is it? Make up your minds, people!! They do normally see me when I'm eating more than usual, because I…
  • I don't know about it only being for people with unreasonable goals......I got 1240 for my number, but I am middle-aged and have a desk job. I set it to lose 1/2 pound a week because I only want to lose a total of 5 pounds. Generally as long as I don't eat out I don't have a problem staying within that. I do exercise and…
  • If you have clothes you really love, and you can't sew, having them altered may be an option. Where I live there is a woman in town who does alterations out of her home.....it's not that expensive, definitely cheaper than buying new clothes.
  • I have the same stats too except for age. My abs are rock hard....under the fat. I need to get rid of the layer of fat, I guess. I'm one of those people who seems to gain all my weight on the stomach. The rest of me is thin (like, my arms and legs are actually bony). Trying to lose a few pounds (like only 3 or 4) to see if…
  • This is actually one of the reasons I weigh every day. Weight fluctuates so much every day due to water weight, etc. I've always figured if I only weighed myself weekly I would probably always end up doing it on a "heavy" day....and not know that the day before I was 2 pounds lighter! I weigh every day because then I can…
  • That's my family. My husband and kids can all eat as much as they want of whatever they want--my husband works out a lot and the kids are all naturally thin--but if I ate like they do I'd be obese. My husband is the cook, and he usually cooks healthy meals, but when he doesn't I just make something separate for myself. I…
  • I have a family member who does this.....she keeps saying it's not fair that I can "eat the way I do" and not gain weight. Not sure what she means by that, since I'm generally on 1200-1500 calories and eating very healthy foods. I also exercise. One time we ordered a pizza--which I normally don't eat-- and I ate one slice…
  • NOT ME!! I have to have three or don't bother. I used to have a serious addiction, but now I can go months without eating an oreo! After so long of eating healthy, they actually taste too sweet to me. But if I do have them, I have 3!
  • I agree with the suggestions for protein in the morning if you're hypoglycemic. I have the same issue, and I've found that as long as I have enough protein (and NOT a lot of carbs or sugar) in the morning, it seems to keep my blood sugar levels stable. I generally just have high protein cereal or oatmeal with an egg for…
  • Mine stopped right after losing 20 pounds a few years ago, but my doctor said if I didn't care (I'm long past wanting more children) then I shouldn't worry about it. It came back on its own after a few months. I was kinda bummed. It may resolve on its own....
  • I had postpartum depression really bad after my third child. I don't react well to antidepressants, but I tried several. They either upset my stomach or gave me such bad anxiety I couldn't handle anything. This was what worked for me when the medication didn't: -ask for help when needed -talk to someone, a best friend or a…
  • I really like yoga. When I started, I just got some DVDs of yoga workouts that are meant for beginners. They don't go into the really hard exercises. I know some people prefer live classes to videos, but the videos work for me. I'm not very flexible and would feel self conscious in a room full of other people doing yoga.
  • You look great! 5 or 10 pounds doesn't make that much of a difference in how you look. I really do think people who tell you you're too skinny are doing it to make themselves feel better. Unless you're showing obvious signs of being unhealthy, it's really none of their business. I'm so tired of people who think it's OK to…
  • I have extremely pale skin too. My dermatologist said that people with naturally pale skin are at a higher risk for melanoma and I should wear sunscreen always, so I've decided I like pale skin! I've already had to have one questionable spot removed from my face and I've never tanned in my life. Even if you're not worried…
  • I would suggest seeing a doctor. Some of your symptoms could be something else, like a thyroid problem. My sister has thyroid problems and has the hair falling out, cold all the time.....a doctor would at least be able to rule that out and determine if it really is your diet that is causing the problem.
  • I did the "belly fat cure" a few years ago. I lost 20 pounds in a few months. It worked, but it is not sustainable. I had to cut out most fruits and vegetable because the diet severely restricts carbs and sugar (an apple has half of the sugar you are allowed in one day on that diet). You can't really eat a balanced diet on…
  • I've been weighing myself daily for years! A few years ago I lost 20 pounds and it was so fun to see the numbers going down! Since then I'm mostly maintaining, but I still like to weigh every day to make sure it's not creeping back. When I see the numbers start to go up I know I'm not watching closely enough.
  • I have always found it ironic how people have absolutely no problem telling people they are too skinny but would never dream of calling someone fat to their face. They don't understand that it's an insult.....they're still telling me my body is not right the way it is. Why is it even their business? I get really angry when…
