  • Yeah reduce it to 3750 for a month and see how you get on. You jumped by 500 which is normally recommended if you want to do a dirty bulk while 250 is normally recommended if you want to do a slow bulk where the increase in fat and muscle should be more or less the same (again open to correction by those more seasoned than…
  • How are you measuring your waist increase? Sounds like you might be doing a dirty bulk in that you are eating everything and anything. Did you know what your maintenance calories were before you started bulking? You may have started at too high a calorie level to bulk at. I'm open to correction as I'm no expert but reduce…
  • Hey @bennyb83fl go into the Goal: Gaining Weight and Body Building section of the message boards which is where people who are bulking get loads of useful information on bulking and you will find loads of helpful people there. Good luck. Was on 4,000 myself when I did my first bulk. Was hard at the start but got used to it.
  • I was on the same amount when I did my first bulk. I found the best way to make sure I ate that amount most days was to pre log my days. That way I wouldnt be left with situations where its 9pm in the evening, you have a million calories left to eat and you are wondering how to eat them. While I would normally be of the…
  • Weight has gone up and down like a yo yo since I came back from my trip 2 & half weeks ago but finally has started to settle down and the figures have become more consistent. Down 2kg/4.4lbs since I last weighed in which was the day after I returned from the trip. I imagine the rate of loss will slow down now to a normal…
  • Good man @psuLemon thanks for that.
  • Great to hear @JoRocka @psuLemon lets change it to Culking Bishes!!! What say you?
  • @JoRocka you could change the title to Culking Bishes!!! Culking would be a mixture of Cutting and Bulking.
  • Great to see others are similar. My bulking calories are between 3,500 - 4,000 while my maintaining are in or around 3,100 so eating under 3000 for a while will be nice. When I was on holidays last year and didnt log food, I lost weight but that didnt happen while in the States with those generous food portions.
  • Back from a 2 week trip to the west coast of the States and Vegas. Gained 3kg/6.6lbs over the space of those 2 weeks thanks to the glorious food portions in the States and no working out. Have stopped the bulk and am defluffing (hate the word cut) over the next 8 weeks until my next trip to the east coast of Italy for my…
  • Hi. First of all how are you measuring body fat? 20% is quite high to start a lean bulk on. You would probably be better off cutting or doing a recomp to get the body fat down to between 10-12% and then start a lean bulk. When MFP gives you a calorie amount, it's trial and error. You give it 4 weeks. If you are bulking and…
  • Hi @fwesley4356 I was on 4,000 calories for my first bulk and while its hard at the start, you get used to it. However I didnt know what my maintenance calories were cos I started on MFP to put on weight. I started at 3,000, gave it a month, no increase, increased by 250, gave it another month and kept going until the…
  • That is probably the best response I have seen on my time here
  • Almonds, cashews, bananas, apples, peanut butter, full fat milk and lots more.
  • Would second all of what @sardelsa said @Eloise2968 and would add that if you pre log your diary, you will know what you are eating during the day and this will prevent you at the end of the day having loads of calories leftover wondering how to fill them.
  • Looks like there are a few generic items that you have inputted from the database like the eggs. Input whatever brand of eggs you are having which probably have less sodium.
  • Each to their own but I like having friends who have similar interests to me, be it lifting and running, so that I can learn from them and them from me regarding bulking & maintaining. However I like having a small group of friends, normally below 50 who interact and use this site for what it is meant to be, health and…
  • As @JB035 said, you have made progress. Well done so far. However seems like you have definitely stalled. So up the calories by another 250, give it a month, if the weight has gone up, carry on, if not, increase again. I'll second the question that @Gallowmere1984 asked - how long have you been lifting? Are you on a…
  • I'm open to correction here but you might need to up the calories again by 250 as you seem to have stalled. Give it another week and if you are still recording 168, increase. Have you a goal weight in mind? How long have you been bulking for? Do you know what your body fat was before and what it is now?
  • I would second what @psuLemon and @the_quadfather said. If you find that eating all the carbs is tough, have a shake that is heavy in carbs to help reach the carbs and overall calorie total. Dont be afraid of carbs on a bulk as carbs are your friend.
  • Whoa that is a lot of oats. That smoothie would be an incredibly filling but a nice one.
  • Was unable to lift for the last two weeks due to a lower back strain so ate at maintenance for the period. Went back to a workout today & lower beck felt good. Back to bulking calories
  • Well done. Wish I had done the same thing myself as I'm 4 weeks out from a trip to the west coast of the states. However I'm planning another trip at the end of May so when I get back from the first trip, I will do similar to you before the 2nd trip.
  • This for me as well @sardelsa especially the wiggle test in front of the mirror. Wiggle your stomach, the less time it takes for the stomach to stop wiggling, the lower body fat you have, the more time it takes, the higher body fat you have. Not a scientific test or anything but works for me.
  • Again I'm open to correction here but you would be better off increasing your carbs as carbs are key to bulking and increasing weight and lowering the amount of protein you eat as 300+ is way too much. You will gain some fat bulking so be prepared for that but if you do a slow bulk, the increase in fat should be aligned…
  • How long have you been at that amount with those macros? if you want to do a slow bulk, the normal run of events is to give it a month, if the weight doesnt increase, increase the calories by 250 and give it another month. Repeat until the weight starts to go up. I'm open to correction here but your protein might be too…
  • Did you recently record a weight gain/loss on this? If you did and if your goal weight is below/above what you weigh now, MFP has the delightful habit of changing the calories and macros for you. To prevent this, set your goal weight at a number that you are never going to achieve so that everytime you record a weight…
  • @JoRocka I would second what @psuLemon said. It is a bit like January in the gym at the moment with all the new people but once February comes, it will go back to the normal people who used to post in here. Well at least I hope it does cos the one person that has started in here in January is incredibly over the top for my…
