Oh dear I think I'm going to put a downer on this really positive thread! I've been on my healthy plan since 3rd January - no chocolate, biscuits, sweets etc. Exercising 5/6 times a week - a good mix of cardio, toning and weights, classes and solo gym routine. Counting calories since beginning of Feb (max 1500 per day now…

I wear a good sports bra and if doing an energetic cardio class will also wear a Roots yoga top my brother sent me from Canada. The combination of both really hold me down though I'm 'only' a 38DD! Outerwear is whichever old saggy t shirt is clean plus some capri pants or running leggings that I've had for 5 years! So long…

Wow you guys!! I thought I was an early bird getting to my classes for 6.15am ! I get up at 5.35am and prepare the evening meal in the slow cooker and also my packed lunch if I forgot the night before then go to the gym! But rising at 4am??????? Wow ! I am in awe of you.

Try eating a banana? I go to the gym at 6 every morning and could no more eat breakfast than fly there! However I do get more out of my workout if I haven't eaten. When I go mid-morning on Saturdays it's never so effective as I have had breakfast at 8. As i don't eat beforehand, I do eat a banana as soon as I get in then…

Emma, I feel exactly the same! I too was almost 'enjoying' feeling hungry as towards the end of last year I never did because I was constantly eating rubbish! I too have just increased my daily allowance from 1500 to 1700 and it's really hard to increase those calories without feeling 'bad'. In the past I would have…

I went cold turkey at the beginning of January - no chocolate, sweets, biscuits cakes etc. After a few weeks, I found that it has become easier and easier to not eat those foods and I do feel better for it. I don't have the lethargy, have clearer skin and my head feels c learer somehow. Good luck!

At the gym I workout on my own unless I'm in a class! Depends on my mood really, sometimes I just want to focus on the workout others I'm quite happy to chat to other users as I go around. I find I'm more sociable on a weekend morning when I get to the gym at 10-11am rather than my normal 6am weekday starts !

My advice is Yes, go and see your chiropractor - if your skeleton is out of line and you are using your muscles more then they will be pulled in the wrong direction half the time and hurt! If it was me, I would carry on with the gym but perhaps do more cardio or get advice from the trainers on which exercises don't put…

Lizabett, I'm in exactly the same position as you - eating around 1500 cals per day net, exercising in gym 5/6 days per week but not lost a pound, or an inch and my clothes feel just as tight. I'm having blood tests tomorrow but don't expect them to reveal anything unusual (again) except possibly low iron. If you find the…

My first thought was 'what loose skin, where?? My second thought was - I wish I looked even a quarter as good. Please stop beating yourself up - you look AMAZING! B x

HIIT Me, that echoes my thoughts about doctors and is why I don't really push for further treatment. I have found my periods better since using a Mooncup tho . x

Probably the salt in the takeaways has caused your body to retain water. Get back on the diet and it should go quite quickly. Good luck x

I don't particularly NOT continue with exercise but for the past couple of years the flow in the first couple of days has been super heavy and I daren't stray far from home. Yes exercise helps with the cramps but not the flooding! And no, the doctors are no help at all - I'm currently having blood tests for the 6th time…

You don't need much equipment! Google "44 best bodyweight exercises" - its a youtube video of a US Marine and he is amazing!!

I would recommend you use a trainer either solo or in a class for the first few times as, in my experience, its really easy to get the technique wrong and to strain your back or other joints. And obviously, in a class, you have access to a much wider range of weights so you can work out which ones you use most before…

I'm 5ft 9", nearly 44 years old, currently at 172lbs, realistic aim is 160 with second 'maybe 'aim of 154lbs. Dream goal which I don't think I'd get to without being really obsessed and miserable would be 150lbs! Currently eating around 1500 cals a day, doing cardio/weight classes 5 mornings per week with 2 other weights…

The trrainer at my gym (British female bodybuilding champ) has given me a routine for a beginner where you 'hammer' (her word not mine!) a particular muscle group just once a week. I do pec dec, shoulder press chest press and tricep dips on one day, lat pull down, seated row and bicep curl another. Legs are just the leg…

I weigh every day but that is just me. I don't analyse it and don't record it but it helps to keep me on track and makes me understand how variable my body weight can be. Unfortunately when I only weighed once a week, if it was a day that my body decided to magic 4 lbs out of nowhere (as it does quite regularly!) I got…

Dont have sugary foods in the house!! It's the only way I've found to resist them and once you've been without them for a few days it becomes so much easier to bear. Another tip I had once was instead of sweetener in your hot drinks, try half a teaspoon of sugar as this is a) more easily burned and b) gives in to the…

I've refined my eating habits (again!) but for the first time ever haven't slipped once in the first 5 weeks. What's different? I haven't got any 'bad' stuff in the house! For January it we decided as a family to not have biscuits, crisps, cakes, chocolate or sweets to that was easy. February i still haven't bought any…

I used to do Zumba as an 'extra' to all the other cardio I was doing - in fact I used to do it after a 3 mile run as it just didn't push me enough. I stopped when the instructor was gaily telling everyone that you can expect to burn between 600 and 1000 calories in 1 hour of Zumba and this to people who were barely…

Having read this thread, it makes me appreciate my gym even more!! No pervy guys, no sweaty pools under machines, no queues for weight machines, no mobiles, no made up to the eyeballs gym bunnies! When I was looking for a gym I went on the website and it freaked my out a bit as the owner and his partner are professional…

If I stretch REALLY tall then I'm just about 5ft 9" so a bit taller and currently feeling heavy at 172lbs and generaly dress size UK14/16. I was 154lbs from age 17 until after my 3rd child but even then was dress 12/14! Target weight is around 160lbs as I figure that at 43 I'm never going to get back the figure I didn't…

Hey Stephi - I 'graduated' to the mooncup last year and also would never go back to pads and tampons. It's a bit icky during the really heavy 48 hours but no worse than changing a super plus tampon every hour! And SO-o-o-o much cheaper! Plus I haven't had thrush at all since using the cup. Feels safer when exercising too.…

Same here! For the week before TOTM I get so lethargic (this week!) it's as much as I can do to put one foot in front of the other, never mind run! So I walk - same distance just takes longer. Almost the same calorie burn too. Bear in mind I'm not regular so this COULD go on for a couple of weeks ormore! When 'it' arrives,…

I would LOVE to have a nice takeaway place nearby but the fish and chip shops are rubbish and the chinese is just eeuurgh. I never knew food could be greasy and dry at the same time!

What I think about depends on what's going on in my head and why I am running and where and who with! If I'm running in the morning I will think about all the stuff I have to do during the day plus I usually have the dogs so keep an eye on them. If running across country it's more about "oops there's a rabbit hole to…

For the UK based folk on here, Walls Low Fat Vanilla Soft Scoop is pretty good (ie low calories!) for the amount you get. B x

THank you so much for your wonderful replies. I feel quite emotional and teary reading them. I guess we all have moments like mine when fate delivers us the opportunity to make a choice. For me it was give up and stuff my face with whatever I want for the rest of my life, or carry on with MFP and hope that one day my…

I'm asking myself the same question this lunchtime - did a 5 mile run first thing this morning, on the last mile felt my knee 'ping' a bit - no biggie, kept running. Now I can't walk up or down the stairs and it's constantly aching! Daft mare that I am, I know I should have stopped running but I was in my last mile…
