Concept2 rower here - starting again after a very long break from rowing and from his site! But never been on water...but I would think you should start using the rowing machine at the gym to get the feel of it and knowing which muscles to work on.

I went from 69kg/151lbs down to 57kg/125 lbs but I felt I was too thin. I felt and looked good at between 60-62kg (132-135lbs) and reasonably toned. But I have let myself go again and currently at 66kg /145 lbs.

Weigh and log > Once a week every Monday first thing in the morning. I logged every weight loss or weight gain for the week.

It really depends on how you carry yourself in it...you'll either be labelled as a show-off, attention *kitten*,etc or you're just another pretty fit girl at the gym.
