  • Well seeing as Tainted Love has already been requested I'd say Love Shack, Wake Me Up Before You Go Go or YMCA. Or Take On Me. There are so many to choose from (I loooooooooove 80s music) Or Dont Leave Me This Way.
  • I am happy with my One (even though a wrist band with a display is a massive incentive to me) but I want to know more about the HRM before I consider upgrading. As things stand I may stick with the one and get a Polar FT7 watch, it seems to do more on the heart monitoring side (which is the only thing the One doesn’t do…
  • That’s fantastic, great going. True story: I was a member of “Slimming World” in 1997 and I once lost 9lb in a week. I had my “Slimmer of the Week” badge, pen & piece of fruit and the group clapped, etc; then the woman running the group asked me, “so, how did you manage to do so well over the past week?” I felt such a…
  • My ideal scenario would be the fucntionality of the One, built into a strap with a proper disply (like the Force had) with HRM built in. I love my One but I would upgrade in a heartbeat (no pun intended) if such a device was to come out.
  • The trigger for me was that I am 40 next year and if I don’t lose weight now I am worried I’ll develop health issues sooner rather than later (I’ve always seen 40 as a sort of “gateway” into middle age and I don’t want to carry on being very overweight as I am not getting any younger). I also want to play and do things…
  • Just remembered this one; work bought us all a box of chocolates once (about 16-17 years back) and I decided to give it away, as I am not overly fussed on chocolate. Unlike Forrest Gump, who only "ate some", I ate the entire box that evening and felt pleased with myself because I hadn't said who I was going to give it to…
  • A few years back (not in my dieting days) I ordered a regular meatball sub from Subway but they gave me a footlong one by mistake. I covinced myself it was ok because it was my intention to only eat a regular sub, so eating the entire foot long one was fully justified. With crisps. I felt sick all afternoon in work and…
  • This is how I took it aswell. It does help where regulation of sodium is concerned, but the figure is not a magic “8 glasses and you are sorted”, in my experience. I have never been a big fan of soft drinks or coffee, etc, so all I’ve ever drank all my life is water with the occasional Diet Coke thrown in and I am very…
  • Speaking as someone form the UK, we aren't all like her.
  • Lost 4lb on the scales this morning. I guess that means another 3-4 weeks of little to no gain or even putting weight on, if the current pattern is to still apply. I will simply have to try all I can to break the pattern.
  • Thanks for the compliemt, and yes, I do readjust every few lbs lost (I forgot to mention that bit).
  • The saying "I never leave the house without it" goes further with my Fitbit One; I never go anywhere IN the house - aswell as out of the house - without it. Has it helped me lose more weight and get more active than before I had it? (May this year). I would certainly say it has, yes. But the major caveat I would say is…
  • I have fully bought in to the phone generation (I had mine before they were marketed to the masses so I was already a veteran by the time the kids got their mitts on them) but there's one thing I have always refused to partake in - text speak. I refuse to use lol, rotfl, m8, etc, I don't even know what a great number of…
  • I had salmonella poisoning in 1998, it is still the most ill I have ever been (the hallucinations were scary). But I was mid-diet at the time and in 5 days I lost almost a stone. Terrible couple of weeks, but great on the scales.
  • The "before" picture on my profile was taken in July last year even though I didn't start dieting until March this year. It was the most recent photo of me that I could find and I am pretty sure I was at (or close to) that weight/size I was at in March anyway (photos of me at my heaviest are not easy to come by, but that…
  • I am Welsh, my name is Phil and I was born in, well, you get the idea.
  • Thanks for all the replies, it has definitely put my mind at rest and I will accept the 'lesser' weeks far more comfortably than I was before.
  • Yes, this is definitely true - I have needed to tighten my belt more often during the 'lesser' weeks and it did seem strange.
  • Before we were married my fiancee would stay over at mine and she would hold in farts until I got up and went to work. She said sometime afterwards that me going to work was the best part of the day!
  • I can very much relate to this. I am almost met with resistance from my wife and I have no idea why. I am doing this for me and the knock-on benefits the better health will have on my kids and I can't understand why she can't buy in to that. But no matter, I'm carrying on anyway, it will not stop me.
  • Chips (fries) - total write-off if reheated
  • I can relate to this. When I started this journey in March I was all about the weekly weigh-in and I focussed / obsessed on the weekly figure. But over the past 4½ months I have started eating better than I have in years (not just cutting down on portion sizes, but cutting out certain foods, cutting down on processed…
  • I picked 2.5st lighter than when I got married 13 years ago. It still leaves me in the overweight zone in the BMI charts so I will reassess when I get down to my target.
  • Thanks for the logging advice. I don't plan on eating any of the calories back, I haven't eaten my daily allowance by about 1000 calories yet and I just want to go to bed now. Since I wrote the original post I've done another 2 hours work, with more to come tomorrow.
  • If I had to give up pasta I would be better off packing up and going home. I eat it regularly and within my calorie limit for the day, it is one of the main foods I couldn't do without.
  • Sorry blueboxgeek, I am in West Wales over the weekend of the opening show (and it's probably a couple of miles away anyway, down the Bay), I only ever get to see the filming in town. I'll just have to contend myself with the game I always play with my 10 year old daughter, point out a) the scenes that are filmed in &…
  • Next door (Wales). Same with my daughter, but sadly she''s in school and we live too far away from Cardiff for her to come in and see it. She'll have to be content with my photos.
  • I have a Fitbit One and I understand you perfectly, with or without the smileys  I have got a friends group – none of whom I will ever meet – of about 20 and my average placing is about 4th to 6th. I got up to 2nd last week and took a screen shot, even though nobody I know in the real world could care less! I enjoy…
  • Someone hit on my wife on the train a week after we married (14 years ago), so she showed him her weding ring, to which he replied (words to the effect of) "dammit, someone beat me to it". I went into a pub last week that I used to lunch at regularly (although I haven't been in there since before I started dieting) and the…
