Congratulations! It's so important to have goals- it's easy to get burned out from the constant vigilance with diet/ nutrition/ fitness- and a solid goal really keeps you going. My first race was a 10K this September. I finished dead last- behind an 80 yo w/ a prosthetic leg – really- but I finished, in 80 min- without…

I have definitly found that mixing things up- in my diet and work out have really helped to bust me out of a stall.
-
Yes! All the time. I just figured it was me- good to know I'm not alone. I guess in a way it keeps me active because there's times where I just can't sit anymore and have to get up and move. The only other time I had a problem like this was when I was pregnant- another time my body was going through a lot of changes.

I still struggle with either abstaining, or total indulgence. Overall, abstenance works better for me- at least in terms of food.

It happens all the time in our house- my kid is sick of healthy food and makes barfing noises when dinner is presented. My husband eats fast food in the car and hides the wrappers under the seat. As mom/ wife- and chief grocery buyer and chef- I try to make everything as healthy as possible for the benefit of all of us-…

I didn't have any post surg- but did after I had my child a few years ago- I just stuck myself in the thigh. It was the easiest for me to manage.

Mine was total liquid/shake diet for two weeks- and it was the hardest thing about this process. A coworker had to hang up on me I was such a psycho by day 5...that being said- when I did have to cheat it was a hard boiled egg or somethig like that...turning off the TV and going to bed early helps. When your fasting like…

Thanks for sharing! I think a good soup recipe is essential- saves money because it makes packing easy for the week, usualy it's something that has a lot of beans or veg in it and is good for your whole body- and an easy way to keep low cal and high protien. My "go to" is a simelar version of lentil soup or a collard green…

Thats hard with you don't like the team you have to work with- I encountered a few jerks.
-
I usualy keep some cheese sticks or protien bars in my bag- just in case I find myself somewhere that doesn't have food that's a good choice for me. I think the hardest part about this whole thing is that it's private, but at some point it becomes public because people notice your habits and body changes. It's hard to be…

Lately- I've been eating collard greens almost every day -that really helps. It's about 60 cal a serving and if I'm going to eat a carb, better it be from greens than grains.
-
Congratulations! I'm so glad to hear it's going well and that you are on your way!

I have a hard time with the texture of pureed food and kind of lived off of greek yogurt at that phase. I still eat that daily- but it's as close as I can manage that texture. Whipped cottage cheese, a creamy soup (that often made me gag), a pureed sweet potato and greek yogurt were about all I could handle at that phase.

I lost about 15 on the pre surg diet- and about 20lb a month after - but- I started at the gym about three weeks after surg. I've kept it up since too- and it makes a huge difference. I'm down 114 in 8 mos - with only about 10lbs a month for the past two. I also hit about a two week stall after surg, and a month long stall…

Find another NUT- the three meal a day plan doesn't work for everyone- and I also only drink milk at gun point....there's more than one sucesful plan- and yours should be something you feel comfortable living with

That’s frustrating- its none of his business! I would have a hard time not saying something outrageous like I was having an absorbed twin removed or new vagina installed- and then proceeding with explicit detail. It’s hard because this is a very private thing- but it becomes public as you noticeably loose. Begin rant on…

I lost a lot in my legs first b/c of the way/type of excecize I do most - eliptical/ arc trainer, walking...but I did notice for a while that it was uneven and I felt out of proportion- like a tomato with toothpics for arms and legs- it's evened out since then! There's time when I go a few weeks with out loosing - like now…

So glad it went well and that- ITS DONE!
-
Good tip-thanks!

Those are always fun questions to ask...I don't remember having that conversation either...but I almost think it wasn't relevant for me at the time- because I just felt very protective of my abdomin for a few weeks after surgery. My incisions had to be stapled- and the idea of that coming into contact with anything was…

There's some faux meat sausages at Trader Joes- I forget the protien they're made from- but they're spiced well and have a LOT of protien per serving- it may be a nice new flavor to add. They look like the Italian Sausages you would eat on a roll w/ peppers and onions.

That made me laugh Mango...definitly not bird boned and definitly not going to weigh 140!
-
I had the opposite feeling- that being 5'6" and starting at 325, a goal weight of 140 was too low- and discouraging from the start. That was from the NUT. The surgeon said if I got below 200- if it was 170, 180 or 190 - and stayed there - for the rest of my life it would be a success. Now that I'm at 215- and things are…

I used it to run a 10K, but I found that MapMyWalk helped more. The goal was endurane and time- I needed to finish in under two hours. MapMyWalk is free, gave me interval time- so I knew that if I was two miles in and my pace was something like 18 min- I needed to run a bit more and speed up. I used the track at the park,…

It's not an easy fix- and there's tough parts- especialy the social aspect. You body and the decisions you make are private- but at some point it does become public because people notice the changes. Your relationship with food does change, and there's some struggle there too. You have to relearn what role food has in your…

I remember that feeling so well- it's really like a 21 day cycle- and eventualy it does break. But it's hard. You dream about it, obsess over it...I will say that turning the TV off helps because when your in that state, every commercial seems like it's for something delicious.

This one is so hard for me- I grew up hungry a lot and wasting food gives me a lot of anxiety. I'm learning to take less, and not give my family a hard time if something does get tossed. I have a lot of guilt over wasted food- either by eating more then I need and making less available for someone else, or by not eating…

Good luck! I'm so happy that you're finaly getting what you worked so hard for! You might get bored with nothing but the same boost shakes- try to get different variteies to keep yourself interested. It will help you stay on track and keep the temptation to cheat to a minimum. When I cheated- it was maybe a hard boiled egg…

Beans, lentils, and spinach are a big part of my diet and it helps.

I'm sorry- that's a hard place to be, but I like Qski's tips....I'm prone to pushing things too- and have not missed logging/ tracking/ weighing food in 205 days b/c I know that's what it takes to keep on track and not undo all this work. The planning helps too- once I veer off of course, I tend to continue a downward…
