  • What's PPI? There's no way I could go a whole day with out a snack- so I try to build a good choice into my plan. I also found that when I do a lot of cardio, like 45 min three times a week- it triggers hunger.
  • I eat a lot of lentils, usualy start my day with lenit soup.
  • I'm a year out this month- and sometimes it's still a waste in terms of food. I order light or something that I know my husband or kid will eat after I do what I can- or things that are good for sharing. I enjoy the expierience of being out more than I do the food/ eating- the novelty of food is gone somewhat, but the…
  • I made it today - very good, you can't taste the spinach, if you get heavy handed with the mint it will taste like toothpaste - and like all things in life it would be improved by a scoop of low fat vanilla ice cream. But still- very good as is ...
  • Thanks for that post! I love the way TED talks break it all down.
  • Congratulations! Job well done!
  • Congratulations- that's a lot of hard work that's paid off! Good job!
  • I also lost the best at 800 cal a day- but I just can't do that on a daily basis. I'm hungry, dizzy and tired when I try to keep it that low.
  • I'm there now- I'm about 20lbs from goal and a year out- and really see the slow down. It's good if I loose 5-7lbs a month at this point. I went from 325 to 195 now.
  • I wear it all the time- it takes out your excercise time to there's no double dipping.
  • I wanted to say also- that this reminds me of what I sometimes encounter with my family- I’m white, my husband is African- and we have a daughter. Sometimes people say things like “what is she?, Is she yours? Did you adopt? She must really look like her father? Are you still together?”…..some of it is curiosity, some of it…
  • It's a fancy "cleansing conditioner" - they sell it on QVC- you use it instead of shampoo and w/ no conditioner after- it doesn't foam- but it's very gentel on your hair while still cleaning it well- I even use it after the gym and come away feeling clean. It's expensive and takes some getting used too because it does not…
  • That is truly awful. One thing about this journey that is so hard is that- like pregnancy- it’s private, but at some point it becomes noticeable in public. That however, does not give everyone license to comment on it or make it their business. I try to remember that most people wish me well, and there’s no malice in it-…
  • Good start- you'll be back on track in no time!
  • I get tired of it too- and I wonder what kind of person it makes me that I know exactly how many calories are in an egg...am I changing one set of obessive habits for another- I don't know. I know this is working, so I'm going to keep doing it- but it's definitly exhausting some days.
  • Forgot to mention- that thinner hair in winter meant some dry, itchy, sore scalp- I started rubbing on some Tea Tree Oil- and it was instant relief. It’s not pretty- I look like a greasball- but on days I work from home I use it and just put my hair up- and it just feels so much better. Not sure it does anything from…
  • I'll be a year out next month- and the loss has stopped and the growth started- probalby about two months ago- it was short lived but brutal. I take biotin every day and I don't know if helps or not- since I've taken it from the begining-but at least it makes me feel like I'm doing something about it...I also stopped…
  • I'm at about the same place and start to freak out when I think I'm eating too much and moving too little. I'm still loosing- but it's slower, and I don't feel like I'm as much in control of my eating as I was a few weeks ago. I'm trying to be aware of hunger vs snacking. My logging is good- but its cold out and that makes…
  • Honestly- my husband has diabetes and has it often- so I think I just assumed it was him- he's been known to stink up a room in many ways. It stopped happening maybe a month or two after surg.
  • Maintenance is good- the fact that you maintained and didn’t’ gain is excellent. I’m almost a year out and have noticed that my “danger zone” is from about 7-11pm, after dinner, before bed. That’s when I snack. I’m trying to minimize my TV time – the commercials all seem to be for something delicious and sadly, that…
  • Probably ketosis- I had it bad and my sister kindly rolled down the windows of the car and asked me if I had eaten a *kitten* sandwich for lunch....those Listerine strips that disolve in your mouth saved my life....
  • That's totaly understandable. I had a long goodbye to food the month before my surg. I think that helped to get it out of my system so by the time the 10 day liquid diet came I was able to focus. The pre op diet is hard, but keep focused on your goal, minimize your TV time (every commercial is for a juicy burger when your…
  • I've totaly been there - a month with no loss- it hit me at about six months out. Make a change, either excercise more, go up by about 50 kal a day, or change some of your staple foods and you'll see some movment on the scale.
  • Very exciting news! I hope it goes well with lots of good options.
  • Yeah- when somone isn't even mobile and still manages to eat 5000K a day because someone is feeding it too them- but I guess that happens all the time w/ other addictions too- I think it's just more startling to see it related to food and obesity. Sometimes you see how threatened they feel when the person starts doing…
  • For me- anytime I hit a stall- making a change seems to help (both my mood and the stall). Maybe up by 50 cal, or change my work out, or change the typ of carbs/ protien I eat. I tend towards routine- so if I've had oatmeal and bacon for breakfast a lot, I'll change it to low carb bread and peanut butter - just something…
  • Like PA said- you're not a failure as long as you're still trying and still holding yourself accountable. This forum is a great tool for that - that and MFP in general keeps me honest. I know someone who is getting a revision soon after having bypass 10 years ago- and then twins. I wonder if a revision after WLS will be…
  • Its hard to watch sometimes- you really see how some of the families- even though they may mean well- really enable someone to become so ill.
  • It's good to have friends in all stages- helps you keep on track and makes you aware of what struggles people have at different points and sometimes how you can avoid some of the same troubles.
  • I think they're pretty gross too- and a lot of MD's ofc sell thier own brand and really push it on you. I found that for taste, cost and protien content- the best has been GNC Total Lean Shake. The powder is fine- I hate milk so I use almond milk - and cheaper - but sometimes out of lazziness I buy the bottled and that's…
