It's the problem of not knowing the difference between causation and correlation (http://tinyurl.com/8y99kyx). You will see this problem multiple times per day on MFP on a variety of subjects.

Yes and Yes. I think the reason this issue gets debated so much is included here. People's reactions/personal choices to meal frequency can play a part in their choices throughout the day, which can lead to bad workouts, overeating, other poor choices, so the data reporting gets skewed. If I skip breakfast, and am…

I suspect you might have felt self-conscious about it already, or this incident wouldn't have bothered you enough start a thread. That's fine, but might be something you should own. Random people shouldn't dictate what you are self-conscious about. More important: You are at the gym getting stronger, healthier. That's more…

Way to go. I honestly think week 1 was the hardest for me. Just getting started was such a big deal. Congrats on your success!

Really? Where are you from? I'm wondering if this is regional. I would never have thought to put cheese sauce on a pretzel. And I'm from Texas, where we'll put cheese sauce (or ranch dressing) on ANYTHING.
-
Well then, back to my original interpretation: Less than three is best. I prefer two boobs on a woman, though one would be ok. Three or more just seems like too much.
-
Of course you can eat it. But this thread became interesting when reading others' reactions to what should go on/with the pretzel. Personally, I instantly thought mustard. But others have posted cheese sauce and at least one person posted chocolate. What kind of cheese sauce goes on a pretzel?

Why is this word any different than racial epithets we now consider offensive? It's pretty much the same argument, isn't it? The etymology of a word can show wildly varied uses and meanings. See: http://www.myfitnesspal.com/topics/show/395377-the-n-word

Ahh, Ok. I get it. I thought this was a thread about boobs.

You know when you're curious about something, and may even have some preconceived ideas - or have an answer in mind that you *want* to believe, and start looking for that one particular answer? Sometimes you can miss out on good information because it doesn't quite fit the answer you're looking for.

But then how can be blame the "illegals" for stealing OUR jobs?
-
That's really all this comes down to. Well put.

“You may have thought you heard me say I wanted a lot of bacon and eggs, but what I said was: Give me all the bacon and eggs you have.”

Great story. And I bet your dogs are happier too!

I think if more "pro-lifers" thought this way, we'd probably have fewer deaths - of doctors, health care workers, etc. - as well as fewer abortions. In some ways, the arguments about abortion miss the point. It is a symptom of a different problem: unwanted pregnancy. It drives me crazy how often this crucial piece of…

Really? I went back and re-read to be sure, and I don't see any negativity. Some silliness for sure. But nothing negative. Unless you mean negative in the strictest sense, as in not equal to your ideas. Keep in mind your original post closed with: Isn't that exactly what you got?

I believe that everyone should be treated equally and have the same opportunity. I believe that many who say this kind of message stop there and talk about "no special treatment for anyone." And I think that is myopic oversimplification. I think the world would be a better place if success were based only on merit. But I…

If you only order white rice, you are a ricist.

Thanks for posting this. Great story. Already forwarded to my wife.

I thought about this same thing with a friend of mine. We were going to market the diet as "Kill Whitey" and become rich. But the name just didn't stick.

IJR is funny. But that brings up a worthy question: does being funny - even if being laughed at, or even ridiculed - qualify as a redeeming quality? I'm going to say yes, especially if you take the definition of "redeeming" to be compensation or replacement of something else missing. By that definition, even despicable…

You are getting at the crux of the issue, I believe. But - don't laugh - it's similar to the muscle/fat arguments in that people are interpreting things differently. Are we talking about strictly defining calories in at 6:00pm vs. calories in at 10:00pm (right before bed)? Or are we talking more broadly, including people's…

I'm curious how many "No" responses in this thread would leave you guilt-free. How many "Yes" responses would cause you to feel guilty? Is it a specific number either way, or does the ratio matter more? I suspect whether you should feel guilty isn't really the question you want answered. Judging from the follow-up post,…

Since plenty of people have already corrected the misinformation in your second sentence, I will address the first. I think you are correct in your first sentence. At least partly/indirectly. Sleep patterns can ultimately have an affect on how I eat, and often lack of sleep = more waking hours = more snacking. So *for some…

Depends. I sometimes spell high reps/low weight and get a really good burn.

Dried shame tears.

You wrote: Your second sentence undermines the validity of your first sentence. What is your understanding of why most people on here are against fat burning pills, etc.?
-
Pretty sure I agree with what you are trying to say, but not with your phrasing here. You wrote "there would be a lot less hostility if..." Thing is, I don't think there is that much hostility. I think people are *interpreting* things as being hostile. To me, there is a huge difference - and it's not just semantics. If I…

Excellent stuff. I'll go one step further and suggest to the OP that you can let go of expecting others to think/act/feel in accordance with your own thoughts/acts/feelings and you may find yourself more independent, satisfied, at peace and enjoyable to be around. A sometimes difficult path to follow, but well worth it,…

There are times that an explanation is a waste of your energy. This was one of them. The pain (and joy) of parenthood is not defined by one moment, but spans a lifetime.
