Cool phone, bro.

But I don't think it's stupidity. That's too dismissive, like a cop-out. I am genuinely perplexed by some tightly-held beliefs - perplexed at the beliefs themselves and why they are so tightly held. I suspect many people get really uncomfortable (FEAR) having beliefs challenged in any way when those beliefs are something…

Of all the different kinds of teas I've tried, green tea seems to vary the most in taste. I really like the taste of most green teas, but know that different brands (and blends) vary wildly. I suggest trying something mild to start out with, like Tazo's Zen green tea. (Amazon link: http://tinyurl.com/7wve84x) That's a good…

Agreed. As soon as someone wants to interpret "the" Bible as divinely-inspired unfallible words, all credibility is lost for me. It's a no-won situation at that point. In the article, at the beginning of the Making Choices section, the guy writes: Why do people get SO hung up on sexuality? Are we really still that weirded…

You might have better luck if your thread title indicated what you were looking for. I suspect a lot of people interested in your group may just skip over this thread not knowing what it's about.

Sodastream Diet Dr. Pete is better tasting than DDP, in my opinion. Sodastream syrups use Splenda rather than Nutrisweet, so no aspartame (http://www.sodastreamusa.com/TasteNutritionDiet.aspx#diet). I don't know if sucralose is better than aspartame, but supposedly fewer baby giraffes die when you consume it.

Surely you cannot be serious. I know some people have made joking references to violence, but I've read through this thread and see people condoning real violence in this situation. It's bad enough reading all the judgments about this person's character, the diagnosis of her motives, why she is a bad person or evil - all…

Drinking diet soda is better than murdering people, right? http://tinyurl.com/3ey6gtq What's a little aspartame if it means saving lives? Do it for the children.

You're waiting tables on Thanksgiving? Bummer.

Then you've got your muscle water and your fat water. They hydrate differently.

To the OP: What a terrible thing to say. I'm sorry you had to hear that. Rather than posit what may be wrong with the woman that said that to you, I am going to suggest you hold your head high, know that you are making good decisions and are worthy of positive experiences. It doesn't matter what she said. It really…

Excellent.

Me neither.

I find it funny when the kid hits the ball into his dad's crotch. That's so funny. Because the kid is so little and the dad is just there playing baseball with his kid.

This is my favorite part of this thread.

They are funny. And I want to applaud you, OP, for not getting bent out of shape, offended or defensive about them. Thank you. Also, stop eating moldy bread.

You guys aren't being fair. We need more context. Are these fat cigarettes or muscle cigarettes?

Macpatti - we don't always agree, but I appreciate your candor and integrity and willingness to consider other ideas. Quoting me, you wrote: Totally understandable reaction. I get it. But there are two issues I have with this. One, if you are giving someone the benefit of the doubt, you are giving them the benefit of the…

This is a really good point. Who is going to give first? It is incorrect to say muscle weighs more than fat. Does it matter? I don't know. when I read that statement it makes my ears itch. Could be unrelated, though. There have been conversations - very, very long ones - with people who actually did not understand that it…

I agree in principal, but want to note that sometimes it's easy to get caught up in a crusade to "save" others, and that isn't always as helpful as it might feel. With adults and children, dealing with actual bullies is complicated. Of course bullies should experience consequences. But that's only half of it. Recipients of…

I'm willing to bet that you and I agree in principle, but disagree on our definitions. This discussion is difficult because you are talking about a spectrum of reactions, human emotions, people's own baggage/issues/etc., and the biggest variable of them all: perception. How many of the "bullying" instances online have you…

I will lead if I am expected to and/or qualified to lead, or it's a cause I really believe in and I want to lead. I will follow if I trust the leader, or have to follow (job, etc.) There are people I respect a great deal who are experts at things I know little about. Depending on the level of trust, I might even follow…

Correct. If only everyone said it this way, we could avoid so much confusion and baby giraffe deaths.

I fantasize about wearing a tool belt to my desk job. Hammers are cool, and one of the best implements for zombie defense.

Hello and thank you! Correlation != Causation It's a common mistake, and used in sensationalist/alarmist journalism all the time.

Strictly for reading, I'd say go with a non-color e-ink device. I have a Kindle and love it. If you stare at a computer screen all day long like I do, you don't want another backlit device to read on (this means any laptop, iPad, etc. - not sure about the color devices, but suspect they are backlit as well). The Kindle…

Good stuff. I suspect the percentage of folks that subscribe to this changes with age. What you wrote is selfish. Not in the shame-based connotations so often painted on the word selfish, but the deeper meaning of being concerned with self. Success in relationships require a focus on self. I have to know what I want, what…

Just had my mind blown on a Wednesday afternoon. (Sounds like a Flaming Lips track) I had never thought about this before. Word.

I haven't read all the replies yet, because I need to know just one thing: Does this in any way affect Santa bringing me that awesome train set this year?

Well now you just made me want to explore the use of the term "chick".....
