Another one of these posts, really? When people say muscle weighs more than fat, they mean that BY VOLUME, muscle is heavier than fat. If you take a piece of muscle and a piece of fat, and they're exactly the same size, the muscle will weigh more. Muscle has a higher MpV (mass per volume) than fat. That's all there is to it.
Or in simpler more scientific terms... muscle has a higher density than fat.0 -

But that is when comparing a 10lb baby with a 10lb dumbbell
thank you for clearing that up for me,I would sure hate to be throwing babies in the pool improperly. Does anyone have a dumbbell I can borrow?:laugh:0 -
Correct. If only everyone said it this way, we could avoid so much confusion and baby giraffe deaths.Another one of these posts, really? This is a really good point. Who is going to give first? It is incorrect to say muscle weighs more than fat. Does it matter? I don't know. when I read that statement it makes my ears itch. Could be unrelated, though.

There have been conversations - very, very long ones - with people who actually did not understand that it was a density issue. Or perhaps did not have a grasp of density.
If only we had an MFP FAQ where we could simply point people to....
