  • This is really inspirational! I know I get too caught up in what number is on the scale, then wonder why my body doesn't look like I think it should. I'm getting close to the point where I'll be adjusting my workouts to cut down on my cardio and add in strength training, so I hope my results are similar to yours! If you…
  • I agree, you need more strength training probably to get the body shape you're looking for. It's not easy--I will soon be switching from weight loss to body re-composition myself, and since I don't really like weight lifting I'm not looking forward to it. But I know the results are what I want, so it'll be worth it!…
  • I've lost about 55 pounds since last May. Hoping to lose another 10-15 by early June and reach 125 pounds, which I think will be my ultimate goal weight. My progress has been nice and steady for the most part; I haven't ever really plateaued for more than a week or two, which makes me very lucky, I know. Here's hoping…
  • Unfortunately, you can't spot reduce to give yourself a flat stomach. Your cardio is okay (I would recommend doing some high-intensity intervals, to help burn the belly fat) but you'll also need to do some strength training, to strengthen your stomach muscles. Instead of situps, try doing planks, leg raises, bicycle…
  • I had two on the same day: on Monday, powered through a twelve mile run and then bought my first bikini! :drinker:
  • The most recent one I got was from a professional colleague, who's been following my progress through Twitter and Facebook, sending me an email to ask for advice on how to get healthy herself. Hearing people say that I'm inspiring them is a great compliment. :-)
  • I've already lost over 50 pounds, but I've still got another 13-18 to lose. I'm hoping to get to at least 130, and maybe 125. But it's getting very hard to lose weight! I'm training for a half-marathon and running so much, but it's so easy to just eat back almost all that I burn with exercise. Add in those random days when…
  • I'm 5'3" and 36 years old. SW: 195 lbs CW: 142 lbs GW: 130 lbs I've never been below 145 pounds as an adult, so I picked 130 as a goal weight just to have something to work towards. I'm thinking I might try and get to 120-125 as an UGW. But even more important for me is body recomp once I get down to around 130. I'm hoping…
  • It varies, but I'll take progress pics at least every three months, and I'd like to have that be closer to every month. As I get closer to my goal weight, I don't know if my progress will show in my pictures, but I'd like to have the record. :-)
  • Hiya! I'm 5'3" and looking to lose another 13 pounds to get to my goal weight of 130. Don't know if that will be my final resting point, since that will be the lowest weight I've reached as an adult. But I'm excited about my progress so far and I'm always looking for new friends! :-)
  • I'm a 36G (US) and with an Enell sports bra I can do all the running/cardio I want. That being said and to answer your question, and speaking for my own experiences, I can burn more calories on the elliptical, especially with pushing myself, than if I speed walk (say, 4.0 speed setting) on the treadmill. Plus, there's less…
  • Right now, I'm 143 pounds at 5'3". I'm pretty solidly a size 8 in bottoms and a medium in tops, although my new Old Navy jeans are a size 6. :-)
  • [high fives you] I know I've definitely struggled with accountability at times, but you're inspiring me to hold my feet to the fire! If I go over, so what? Tomorrow is a new day, full of opportunity to move on. Thanks for sharing!

  • Congratulations!
  • I'm five foot three as well! I started at 195 pounds and am now down to 143, thanks to smaller portions, making better food choices, and a lot of cardio. I'm 13 pounds away from my goal weight, so soon I'll be working to reshape my body versus losing weight--at least, I hope that's how it works out! :-) I posted my…
  • I use Nike+ Running and really like it. I do have to enter in my info on MFP; it doesn't automatically feed, which is a bummer. I've had some issues with the app, but I think it's more my phone than the app. For me, I really like getting badges, like longest run, 3 runs in a week, etc. You could certainly have two…
  • For short runs (6 miles or less) I just run with my phone in my hand, switching hands frequently. For longer runs, I use an armband that does a good job of staying in place for me. This is what I got: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00D30TTOM/ref=oh_details_o00_s00_i00?ie=UTF8&psc=1 You might want to try and see if this…
  • It's a marathon, not a sprint. (Something I tell myself a lot!)
  • Oh, thank you! I'm definitely working hard at it. To clarify, it's more that I didn't think I had much progress between my next-to-last and last photos; I can definitely see the progress from the first to the last picture. Just fifteen more pounds until I hit my goal weight! By that point I want to really be focusing more…
  • I'm definitely an apple--all my weight is around my midsection--and I hear you on wanting a flat stomach! I just posted a nine months progress report earlier today (http://www.myfitnesspal.com/topics/show/1211734-50-pounds-gone-in-nine-months) but I almost held back, because I looked at the pictures and thought my stomach…
  • What everyone else has said. During that time of the month, I retain water, so I already know things are screwy with my body. So I don't beat myself up if I indulge a little more then. Because I know as long as I pick myself up one more time than I fall down, I'm succeeding. Good luck and feel better!!! :flowerforyou:
  • Thank you for all the lovely compliments, everyone! Being told that I can be an inspiration for someone makes me feel really good. :-) In answer to some questions, my half marathon is on April 6. I'll be doing the Rock 'n' Roll Half in San Francisco. Thank goodness I'm doing it with a friend, who will pull me up the hills…
  • More than just losing weight, Couch to 5K helped turn me into a runner and helped me become healthier and stronger. Good luck with the app!
  • Bought new jeans yesterday and I fit into a size 6! :drinker: I haven't worn that size since I bought my first pair of non-kid jeans.
  • I'm running my first half-marathon on April 6, so congrats to you for taking on this challenge! Listen to your body but don't let it get in the way of your goals, either. There's lots of days when I started running and I just wasn't sure how this run was going to go--but as I kept going and always achieved the distance I…
  • I'm currently a 36G and the Enell has been good. The only downsides I've seen is that a) the bottom three hooks on mine rusted pretty quickly so the bra looks fugly right now, but since I always wear a shirt over it, that doesn't matter and b) I've lost enough weight since purchasing the Enell that I need to get a new one…
  • Getting fitted for the right running shoe has made all the difference in my running--I could practically hear angels singing when I put on the shoes that I use now (Asics Gel Kayano 19s). So just seconding all the people who say to go to a running store and get fitted properly!
  • What a great present to give yourself on your birthday: health, endurance and success! Great job! :flowerforyou:
  • I started at 195 pounds (although I'm five foot three) and in six months, I lost 39 pounds. The first two months, I was only working out 3-4 times a week with long walks, too. I would suggest that instead of just running, you mix up your cardio as well as do some strength training, too. You'll look better in the long run…
  • Did my longest run yet this morning: 9 miles in 1 hour 47 minutes. :-) I have a half marathon coming up at the beginning of April, and I'm feeling really good that I'll finish the race in under three hours!
