  • One of my resolutions this year was to get more sleep. For me, I'm finding it's helping my weight loss because if I'm not tired, I'm less grouchy and less likely to throw my workout plans out the window if anything goes wrong. For the most part, I've gotten nearly seven hours of sleep a night for the last week, and it's…
  • I usually make up a batch of steel cut oats on Sunday or Monday night and eat a half cup each morning. Because I have a sweet tooth, I like throwing in about a half tablespoon of chocolate and/or peanut butter chips in before I microwave. The chips melt and give me a little kick of sweetness and flavor that goes a long…
  • I've had a lot of success lately with some steel-cut oats, a banana, and some Greek yogurt (the Yoplait 100 calorie cartons taste great to me-vanilla is my favorite). Usually I have water with a packet of Crystal Light, but sometimes it'll be a Diet Coke, depending on the day.
  • I started off as a 40G, and now I'm a 32F after losing 65 pounds. I'd like to lose even more, but I think surgery would be the only way. I never really had back pain before, so I can't speak to the rest of your question. But good luck! I had lost weight before and my breasts didn't change, but this time they did, so it is…
  • It's my birthday on Friday, and I've made plans with some friends to do yoga, followed by Mexican food. :-) Will definitely have a margarita with my dinner, although I don't know about dessert. And on Saturday, my roommate and I are going out for lunch, too. But before lunch, a nice long run!
  • I've started to see my veins stick out and it never fails to freak me out a bit! That was something I didn't anticipate. Other surprises? 1) having trouble shaving my armpits, because they dip in so much I can't get the razor in there 2) feeling cold much easier--but enjoying stepping outside even when it's 90 degrees 3)…
  • I was probably around a 40G when I started working to lose weight. At 5 foot 3, I was all boobs. I've lost 65 pounds, going from 195ish to 130, and I'm now a 34F--and I'm not sure that's exactly what my size is, but that's the bra size that fits me well in Victoria's Secret, whose bras I can now wear again. At some point,…
  • I'm 5'3" and am at 131 right now. I'm shooting to get somewhere around 125-128, at least as my initial goal weight, and then see what happens as I've added in more strength training in the last few months. As others have said, the number on the scale is only part of the equation. I already feel like a winner, since my…
  • "I can and I will"--it covers all the bases for me and it's simple. When I was running the Baltimore Ten Miler on Saturday and really struggling, I kept repeating that phrase over and over and it kept me running right up to the finish line.
  • This is also something I'm trying to figure out. I'm 5'3" with a small frame and weigh 131 pounds right now, a month before my 37th birthday. I'm pretty much right in the healthy/average ranges for BMI, body fat percentage, and other metrics. Lots of people tell me how good I look and that my weight is good where it is. I…
  • I don't know you so I wasn't aware of your background, I was just going by your ticker. But my point still stands: don't be a troll.
  • Whereas you've been here since 2012 and have only lost 8 pounds?
  • removed original post because I forgot to quote.
  • Also, weight is just one part of the equation. Are you doing any strength training? How's your flexibility? If you added some weight lifting and yoga/pilates, you'll see a remarkable change in your body even if the scale stays the same or goes up. I know it sounds weird--I never believed it myself, until I started doing…
  • I've gone from 195 to 129 pounds, and the last time I went shoe shopping, all the shoes that fit me were a half size smaller. I went from a 7 to a 6.5. Plus, I'm wearing a pair of sevens today and they feel pretty loose. So it does happen to some people!
  • I'm 36 (nearly 37) and I just celebrated my one year anniversary on MFP, in which I've lost 63 pounds. I posted some before-and-after photos on this post: http://www.myfitnesspal.com/topics/show/1294480-365-days-63-pounds-a-story-in-pictures . In short, it's totally possible! You just need to put in the work and not let…
  • I personally find that if I go way over on my sodium, the next day I retain enough water that it appears like I've gained weight. And I hate seeing that. Add in the fact that heart disease runs in my family, I want to monitor my sodium intake and keep it within the recommended daily allowance as much as possible. Of…
  • I usually try and be forgiving of people and think that they're just concerned about me going too far. But luckily, I've only had one person express worry over my goal weight. I think the real test will come as summer approaches, and I can get out of thick sweaters and show off my new figure. Then, when I talk about my…
  • I use Nike+, because I like the challenges I can set myself and being able to level up. Plus, I just like the UI.
  • I ran a half at the beginning of April, and afterwards I was on such a high that I was looking for more races to sign up for. But then my cooler head prevailed, so now I'm backing off my runs to be three or four days a week, shooting to get around 12-15 miles a week. That way, I can fit in some other kinds of workouts,…
  • I'm not too far away from maintenance, either, so this thread was very welcome! Thanks for all the great ideas!
  • Just back from my race--did it in 31:30! I think because of the rain, I was trying to finish the race as fast as possible. It also helped that it was a paved, flat course. :-)
  • My personal best is 33:30, which was actually my first 5K last year. I'm running my third 5K today and I'm hoping to be around that time, even with the cool and rainy conditions. I've been training for a half-marathon that I'll be running next weekend, so I hope all that running will help me today! :-)
  • It's something that would require a bit of prep work in advice, but I'm becoming a big fan of quinoa. Mixed with black beans, chickpeas or edamame, you'd get fiber and protein in one snack. I make some quinoa over the weekend, toss in whatever beans I want, and store it in my fridge in a Tupperware. Then I scoop out some…
  • Probably? Maybe? It's hard to say--I've never lost weight and kept it off, so maintenance will be a big challenge for me. I still have about ten pounds to lose before I'll be ready to go into maintenance, but I'm looking forward to being able to try some new things, exercise-wise, instead of concentrating on burning off…
  • I'm really close to my goal weight and I'm already enjoying the shallow things like wearing smaller clothes and feeling more confident. But the real test will come this summer when I wear my new bikini and see what happens. :-)
  • Bump! I'm running my first half on April 6 and I'm wondering the same thing.
  • I've lost just over fifty pounds, and I wouldn't say I have any loose skin anywhere--you can look at the photos on my profile to see what I mean. I liked the poster who said "Never underestimate the body's ability to have fat!" Because that makes sense to me--fat is sneaky.
  • What a great time! Congrats! :-)
  • High five! That's fantastic!
