No it's fine. And no one is saying clean eating is bad. Just the amount of clean eaters telling people who choose to eat some candy or ice cream are doing it wrong is what is annoying. Especially when a lot of new comers get these responses of eliminating some food groups. Restrictions on a diet can help some people, but…

Such a defeatist attitude. "It's understandable that you are overweight because evolution and it's easy to get food now". Well after thousands of years our brains also developed, maybe it should be common sense or even taught at early ages that "typical" food does not consist of quadruple cheeseburgers, cake and candy.…

You're either the most elaborate troll in a while, or don't have a clue.

I give up

While you do that, I'll call the scientists to stop looking for the next big breakthrough because we got it right here. And again: your strength gains don't imply muscle hypertrophy. This evaluation won't tell us anything. I went from 6kg dumbell curls (4x7reps) to 14kg in ~6 months. I'm on a deficit every day. Please…

Yes lifting heavy and eating enough protein helps retain muscle mass while losing fat. That's what most people on these forums recommend. Still not seeing any indication of your method being able to give you a significant -muscle- GAIN while losing fat.
-
A ratio, really? Noone is saying you can not get stronger on a diet. Of course you can. Your body is amazing at adapting (CNS one of them). The problem most people have is that you are posting the last few days as if Jesus himself came down from the heavens and touched you with this incredible diet and lifting plan which…

If you really think you gain a pound of muscle in a week on your 5-2 weight-loss diet, you must be a genetic miracle and should be studied. ETA: strength gain does not equal muscle gain (few grams maybe, not pounds  )

No we are overweight because we move drastically less in just 50 years (modern comfort), and apparently can't control ourselves in abundance of food. What about the people that never get fat, do they have the magic "fast metabolisms"? No they somehow know how to eat at maintenance. Are they the special snowflakes now?…
-
Were you watching doomsday preppers? :D Sorry. Seriously though, I get your angle. It is easier to get food so its easier to overeat. I still don't think you should blame the abundance of food for someones lack of willpower. And the "stocking up instinct" I've personally never heard of. I don't see the causality.
-
did you read your own link? :(
-
I disagree you blaming the abundance of food ("pre-made crap practically throws itself at you"). My brain tells me to eat when I'm hungry, not when I see a MC Donald's sign. Hunger/satiety is an entire different thing. If you were used to stuffing yourself with 4000 cals daily, you are 'hungry' at 2000 cals. It's a matter…

wut I wish we had time machines, so people could experience the "simpler times". Just cause you see food doesn't mean you have to stuff yourself with it.

Finished Swiss mint  Bit worried about the chili though

You can not gain muscle while losing weight. If you are having trouble getting enough protein from food, whey protein is a great source to hit your macro goals. It is however not some magic potion that will build muscles for you. And yes you should watch your macros if you want to retain lean body mass.

some runs are really bad for me, other days I find the right pace and playlist and it feels like you're flying  I don't get that feeling from cycling and I've done that for years.

Yeah I'm sure the 1% of the world population that are vegan are the most healthy people in the universe. Because people who eat what they like can't possible have a healthy life. /sarcasm off

Yes you will lose weight since you are eating a ridiculous deficit for a guy. I will never understand meal plans. Are you gonna eat the same every day? I wouldn't last more than a week. For a guy with your stats you are eating too little. Eating 1200-1300 really? You can easily eat 1800+ and still lose 1 pound / week.…
-
What about all the people on this forum who are losing succesfully without such restrictions?
-
Yeah... no. OP you are undereating. You are trying to lose way too fast (3 pounds/week = bad). Eating only 1000 calories while excercising every day is bad. Set your MFP to 1 pound per week and eat back some if not most of your excercise calories.
-
MFP gives you a number based on data you input. You only have 20 pounds to go, it is not reasonable or healthy to set MFP to lose 2 pounds a week. And yes you are eating little, which is why you are hungry. I'm 25, 5"9', 156 pounds and eat ~1800 minimum without excercise, and I eat 50-75% of excercise calories back on top…
-
doesn't matter what, when or how you eat as long as you stay in a deficit.
-
It could be that far off, since your guessing right now. The more you lose the more precise you will have to be.
