I just started skating in January. I'm at an ISI rink, and taking a pre-alpha class. My first competition is on April 29. I am really enjoying this, and a little aggravated with myself that it took this long to start...but I plan to work really hard and get up to Freestyle soon.

Congratulations!! You are very inspiring!!

YOGA!! My yoga instructor is always telling us which poses are great for sciatic pain. Hope that helps!!

I couldn't have said it better. You are awesome. That is he reason I went vegan, the whole improved health and kudos from my doctor is a side benefit.

I loved the Marguerite Henry books. <3

Wow!! You did well!

This!! (and a couple of the others...) My doctor told me NOT to run. She to said to walk, swim, etc. She said that at my age (52), the meniscus in my knees is thin, and it would be easy to injure them (my knees). That having been said, if you have good shoes, and a good trainer, I think you will be fine. Good luck!!…

No way. If I gain it now, I will just have to lose it in the new year. I don't need more to lose...

Charge HR 2. I love it. I wear it every day, all day. The dashboard provides lots of exercise and health-related details, you can switch the band out to match your outfit, and I love the hourly reminders to keep moving.

I read fashion blogs. I can't overeat when I'm looking at fabulous clothing that I can wear when I lose my weight.

My experience was like this...mostly. I had morning, noon, and night sickness during the first trimester. I was at a "normal" healthy BMI when my son was conceived, and I gained 36 lbs while pregnant. I wasn't worried about eating too much, but I was very concerned with getting all the proper nutrients while I was…

Congratulations!! Well done!

Turned 52 in March here, but I'm eating healthier than I did in my 20s...I was very happily active until I rekindled a 20-year-old horse accident injury, and am sidelined due to a hurt foot. BUT, because I found that I love being active, I am researching all sorts of exercises that I can do without standing on my…

This is a photo of my princess, Aurora GS, that I took on Christmas Day a couple years ago. I can't remember if this was a really cold day, or she had just been clipped. Edited to add: now that I look at it again, I see that she was recently clipped.

Wow! That's great! You are inspiring me!!

I try, but I think my horse eats better. Trakehner mares are very energetic. At our last barn, she at twice as much as the Clydesdale cross in the stall next to her. Aurora (my horse) gets a specific blend of grains three times a day, and has a hay net available to her all day, full of Orchard Grass hay that measures a…

I was thinking the same as you!

Excellent point. And, more in keeping with the spirit of the holiday than debating the merits of tofu.
-
That is the difference between you and the OP. You tried it, didn't like it. He hasn't even tried it. Different strokes for different folks, right? I don't like the texture of meat...which is why it was so easy to give it up...but I'm guessing you like meat. As I tell my (adult) son, "try it once, and if you don't like…

Good point!! At least where I live, most of the Asian restaurants (a good place to get tofu) totally butcher tofu. According to a Chinese-American friend, only the ones who cook authentic Asian cuisine get it right, the ones who Americanise it make it taste like rubber (or at least that is true of the ones I have tried).…

Have you ever tried Tofurky? I cook it every year. It is really good. I like tofu, too, but Tofurky (to me) does not taste like tofu. Not sure why you don't like it if you've never tried it?

I was a single mother. I did all that. And I volunteered with the Boy Scout troop my son was in and taught Sunday School at the church we attend. And now that my son is in college, close to graduation, I miss doing it. I wasn't a SuperMom by any means, but I loved being a mother. <3

Well done! Congratulations!!

Oooh. I love breakfast!! I had one of my favorites for breakfast this morning, Special K Cinnamon Protein cereal and Silk Soy Light milk with black coffee. Thanks for the challenge!! This one was an easy one, but I'm sure they all won't be.
-
Special K Cinnamon Protein Cereal with Silk Soy Milk. I could eat that three times a day, and for snacks, every day...except that I love vegetables, too.
-
I'm in. Thank you!! I'm vegetarian, trying to be vegan...but that doesn't help much this time of the year...stuffing biscuits...vegetable casseroles...I'm just going to try to take it in moderation.
-
OMG! You sound like me!! (although I'm 52) I'm vegetarian, recently got into activity of all sorts (although there is no exercise quite like mucking stalls and pushing a full wheelbarrow up "manure mountain"...I wish I had time to do that now). Currently, I own a 17'3" Trakehner mare...hoping to take her Grand Prix. I've…

BREASTFEEDING, that is the answer. I gained 36 lbs during pregnancy, and lost 50 lbs (which actually made me underweight) within 3 months of his birth, without even trying. I ate whatever I wanted, didn't work out...but I breastfed...I think that is the key. At least is was for me. Good luck!! You can do this!! (So why I…

The only way to know for sure is to track it with MFP (run a report on sodium intake over the past week if all your food is entered in MFP and the sodium value is accurate). Most people eat too much, not too little, since it is in just about everything things days. I've never heard of anyone eating too little sodium,…
-
How is your sodium intake? I notice a one-to-one correlation between sodium and migraines. As I lose more weight, MFP lowers the amount of calories I can eat per day and lose weight (I recalculate every 10 lbs lost). Anyway, I've noticed that the less I eat, the less sodium it takes to give me a migraine. However, if I…
