Could you please provide more information on this? How to roast the chick peas, what spices you use? This sounds really good!

I was diagnosed in December with anemia from a routine blood test. In the previous blood test (April), I was completely normal. The doctor sent me for a blood transfusion the day I was diagnosed. I felt SOOOoo much better soon thereafter. She has had me tested for many things (bleeding in colon, bleeding in GI tract) and…

I agree. My worst downfall used to be chips (crisps in the UK). I don't really like them that much anymore, I'd much prefer a baked potato. :) I NEVER thought I would say that!!

You are definitely not too heavy. My son, who is 5'9" and 120 lbs dripping wet had to quit the track team when he was in high school due to shin splints...he had all the energy in the world, but he did too much too fast, and he ran on asphalt and cement, which are hard surfaces. I'd definitely go with better shoes, run in…

I think you've received some good advice, like eating more protein and veggies, and tightening up your logging, but as someone who also takes Synthroid, I highly recommend going to your doctor and talking about your situation. As you know, they can run a simple blood test and see if your medication needs to be increased.…

I would be worried about loose skin caused by losing weight that fast...

Wow!! You look GREAT!!!

Wow! You have done well! Thanks so much for sharing, I'm your age, and this is very inspirational.

Orrr...maybe you are a cheerful person. I don't give unsolicited advice, generally, but when people complain about weight loss issues, I feel a need to help. For example: we are on a weight loss team at work, and this guy on the team, actually gained weight this week, while complaining he was starving the entire…

You look AMAZING! Thanks for the inspiration!!

THANK YOU!!!!!

Thank you for pointing out the obvious! People like this make us vegans and vegetarians look bad. You can -- and should, according to my doctor -- eat a balanced diet as a vegan/vegetarian.

I'm vegan and I eat high protein lower carb...and I'm losing weight and quite healthy. In fact, my doctor, who is a vegetarian, points out that vegans/vegetarians have to be careful not to eat too many carbs...you may want to talk to your doctor about this approach, OP.

Ma Po Tofu. I am addicted. But you have to make sure you get it from a Chinese restaurant that cooks (for the most part) the way Chinese people like it. Most Chinese places I've been are uber-Americanized, and they *fry* their tofu. This tastes amazing and is healthy.

I think it has a lot to do with genetics. I gained 36 lbs with my son, and didn't diet or exercise at all after he was born...I didn't have time, being a full-time working outside the house and full-time mother. But I lost 50 lbs in the first 4 months after he was born. Breastfeeding probably helped. I was a stick after he…

Congratulations!!! Well done!

You look GREAT! And how wonderful is it that your son has a mother who cares like you do.

Oh, I totally agree -- everyone has a choice. Trust me, I know I gained all this weight because I like to eat...it was my choice (a bad choice, but still, a choice). And now, I am choosing to lose the weight, by eating less. But I think some people don't *believe* they have a choice for weight loss, and that in order to…

I think it is a personal choice between a patient and his/her doctor. I would never do it because (and these are probably dumb reasons, but they are *my* reasons: 1) On all the TV shows, the people who have the surgery and lose fast (or ever those who don't have surgery but lose fast, like on "Biggest Loser") have loose…

Well, I like hearing how I can't be vegetarian because all vegetarians are sickly and underweight. Ummmm, no, I really am a vegetarian, I do eat mostly vegetables, but I ate too many calories and stopped exercising. So, yep, I gained weight.

I totally agree with this poster, especially about getting enough protein. I never have trouble meeting my protein goals for the day. I love soy products (tofu, soy milk), beans, hummus (which is just mashed chickpeas)...just to name a few. Oh, and my doctor also loves my bloodwork now that I don't eat meat products, and…

Wow!! Thanks for the inspiration!! You look GREAT! And your doctor must be so pleased.

Actually, I thought WL surgery was the "easy way" out until I saw several documentaries on TV. WLS is just a tool, and even surgeons will tell a person that if they don't change their lifestyle, WLS will do nothing for them. Sounds like you used the tool well, keeping it way under 200 lbs. Good luck reaching your…
