Bump! :)

I had weight loss surgery about seven years ago, and am using mfp to lose the last few pounds (only ten left!). Congratulations on starting to diet, and hopefully on getting your back problems solved!

Congratulations on your surgery! I was really curious about breast lifts, but I think I'm happy enough with my breasts at the moment. They're not my ideal, but they look good in a bra and not terrible without one. Still, might be something to look into down the road, and I'm glad yours was so successful! My arms were what…

This is my problem with Luna bars! Yum.

I have Blue Cross/Blue Shield, and they pretty much always cover part of it in cases of massive weight loss. Although my surgeon assured me of this, she took pictures of an infection I had going on with my bellybutton (which were frequent and uncomfortable) and sent that along as well to prove that it was medically…

Thank you so much everyone! I appreciate all the positive feedback (I've been feeling quite down because of the DVT) and I'm glad I was able to help some people get an idea of what this can look like! If anyone's interested, I got a pound of skin taken from each arm and slightly over three lbs taken from my abdomen :) Feel…

I was about 170 right before surgery (two weeks ago), within 20 pounds of my goal weight, and I lost about 160 pounds total. At the same time I had a tummy tuck, so my recovery was not purely based on the arms, but I can tell you that they were basically a breeze for me. I did have someone around helping me, because I had…

Hi! I log every day and have my diary open to friends, anyone can add me! I'd love more committed, supportive friends :)

Great job, you look amazing!! I was obese for a huge period of my life, and I wish I could have loved myself during that period as you did - inspiring :)

I definitely do experience a desire to eat way, way more often than I experience actual, physical hunger. Especially the last few weeks, when I've been in recovery from surgery and laying around the house all day, I've been eating out of boredom more often than not and it's been giving me some issues. I'm still trying to…

Awesome job! Also, damn ;)

I cannot have planned cheat days, because I feel guilty from the very start of the day until the end, and I always regret it. If it's not working for you or causing you stress, just don't have cheat days! What I do is just occasionally go over, if it's something special, and not get stressed about it because I know it's…

I would say sedentary, if you're logging and/or eating back your exercise calories. The activity levels, I think, are supposed to account for the daily activities that you don't log - if you stand all day at work, for example, or do hard physical labor. For an office job, sedentary and logging your exercise calories seems…

I drink one to two times a week, and fairly heavily when I do. It's horrible haha. When I do drink, I often go over - I'll allot around 300 extra calories, lets say, but then I'll have five light beers (550 calories) for example. However, I know that going out with friends and enjoying alcohol is a thing I want to be able…

I generally eat 5-ish small meals a day. I think the general idea is just to do whatever keeps you satisfied and happy while dieting, and for me, it's eating very often when I can, but small meals. My diary is open, feel free to check it out - I keep the two extra meals in the snacks section.

I actually agree with you, to a certain extent. When you talk about losing weight to people, they do rush to assure you that you don't need to (especially if you're thinner than them). My cousin, who's gained some weight in the last year, actually told me I should gain ten pounds back. There are better ways to react to…

I keep them around, but not publicly - I have a locked album on facebook full of photos of my weight loss journey that only I can see, for example. I like to look at them occasionally to remind myself that whether or not I've hit a plateau, or gained a pound, I've still made a lot of progress and deserve to be proud of…

I've lost over 150 pounds and am close to my goal weight, but I definitely do have loose skin. Not the worst I've ever seen, but more than the 'little bit' people on forums like these tend to say they have. Luckily, I'm in a place where I can afford surgery for my arms and a tummy tuck, which I'm getting next month. Your…

I could be wrong, but I believe the activity level is supposed to be for all of the activity that you don't log, the activity that's included in your job or daily light. They give some examples - if you spend most of the day sitting (e.g. bank teller, desk job), that would be considered sedentary.

Wow, it's super weird how this turned into everyone trying to cajole you into using MFP instead! I'm glad WW works for you, but I do agree that them not including fruit and vegetables as points seems off. I will also point out, though, that I used to eat a ton of fruits, but avoid them now that I'm on MFP because they just…

Even then, there is a definite possibility. Do not slow your weight loss on purpose to try and avoid it - as long as you are losing as a rate that is normal and healthy, and drinking a lot of water, you're doing all that anybody can do. A lot of this is up to your age and the natural elasticity of your skin. Being healthy…

Hi! Congratulations on starting! The exercise calories are what you're burning when you exercise, so eating them back is A-Ok, but many people choose not to eat back all of them - for example, most of the people I know eat back half of their exercise calories to help maintain speedy weight loss and allow for any possible…

I got the sleeve gastrectomy 12/28/2008, so I am coming up on my 7 year visit (6 and a half now, I suppose). I've lost just under half my starting weight, 152 pounds, since surgery - feel free to ask me anything!

Any kind of protein bar - especially peanut butter Fiber One! Soooo good. Actually, most Fiber One products - 90 calorie brownies/ 90 calorie protein bars are good too. Or if I feel like I don't have enough calories left to comfortably fit in any Fiber One products, I'll make two servings of boiled vegetables, either…

I'm having a similar problem! My birthday is in two or three weeks, and everyone wants to take me out to high calorie meals and get drinks. It sounds fun, and it's what I feel like I should do, but I don't necessarily want to lose track of my calories. I think it might be good just to take a day off, but there is a weird…

That's a tough situation to be in! I know it was awful for my parents trying to monitor my weight. People think you have complete control over your child's intake, but your control is definitely limited to when they're within eyesight! I'm so glad she's doing well! My main tip for raising a child who's struggling…

Interestingly, I actually just got told by my surgeons that now would be a good time for me to pursue any skin surgeries I wanted. However, I got my surgery in Cincinnati, OH and I live in Detroit, MI, so it's about a 5 hour drive. The surgeons only have recommendations for plastic surgeons in Cincinnati, but they advised…

I usually do 20-25 minutes either on the elliptical or walking/jogging (I'm going to do a 5k eventually), and then I'll do 3 sets of 10 on the leg press and the leg adductors and abductors. About once or twice a week, I'll do the ab room at Planet Fitness - if I do it more than that, I'm miserable haha. Because the…
