  • When I first started, I had super DOMS. I hadn't done a squat in years, so a series of just body weight squats had me in agony for a few days. Now, I get the occasional sore muscle if I do something new or a little differently, but I don't get DOMS from my basic routine. I increase my weight load slowly -every week or so…
  • I don't disclose my work on the internet...not really one of those "I'd tell you but then have to kill you" jobs, but close enough that I don't talk about it.
  • Well, yes, I'm at home...not working today and it's one of my pet peeves
  • I never experience that problem. I have plenty of work to do at work, so I can't offer suggestions other than as a manager, I'd hope my employees showed enough initiative to find something work related to do instead of F'ing around on the computer at work.
  • I'm fortunate in that most of the people I'm around are supportive. One or two tell me I'm annoying with my commitment, but I ignore the haters =) I'm also PCOS and insulin resistant. I find people understand diabetes, so if I frame the discussion around the insulin resistance and how I'm trying to avoid diabetes, they…
  • Because I started my "lifestyle" change with insulin resistance, I watch my sugars and carbs. Seems the sensible thing to do, but I've never bought a chia seed or special coconut products or anything like that. I get a fair amount of sugar from "regular" foods like fruit, whole grain bread, veggies, etc. I limit my…
  • Not today, but I have had those days.
  • I usually go in the morning before work, so I don't have time to get bored or distracted. I stay focused because I have a limited amount of time to get my sets done, get out, and get ready to be at work. I find cardio boring, so I do that at home on my treadmill or taking the dog for a walk. No way I'm going to the gym at…
  • I don't know about normal. Can only speak for myself. I wasn't hungry at all really and still am not. I do try to have regular snacks between my bigger meals and I try to add a lot of volume foods, so I think that helps. By volume I mean I can eat a lot of veggies for few calories which helps me feel I'm getting more and…
  • I almost always cook enough food for supper to take leftovers for lunch. If I have no leftovers my go to meals are spinach salad or the little snack size cans of tuna/salmon.
  • If it's short term gain, it's possible you're retaining water to heal your muscles. Personally, I'm making an effort to maintain my butt as it seemed to get a little flatter when I started losing. It's looking better since I started lifting....I like big butts and I cannot lie.
  • Go play hockey. It's part of a healthy lifestyle. Just don't do it 5 min after your lifting or try to do your lifting right after a hockey game.
  • I'm often under by somewhere in the neighbourhood of 100. It's piddly work to try to get it bang on. If I'm not hungry, I won't make a point of finding something that's 70 calories just to hit my total. If I'm hungry I eat something and sometimes go over a wee bit, but not very often. It all balances out at the end. Also,…
  • You already know you cant spot reduce. If you aren't already doing weight/strength training that's your best bet to build/maintain muscle and reshape your body somewhat. Look into Brett Contreras and Strong Curves for particular attention to the glutes. 1.5 months isn't a lot of time for 2 inches of change, but you might…
  • This. Pretty new to all this, but my limited understanding is that working your lower body or doing compound lifts like squats, etc will help you keep or gain muscle (if not in deficit) in those areas. It won't necessarily make you lose fat in them alone. It will help you lose fat, but your body will decide where.
  • I don't have any kind of regular cheats. If a special occasion comes up, I allow myself to indulge a little and go over my deficit, but I don't go all crazy. I don't think I've even gone beyond Maintenance calories on any indulgence day. Cheating means something different to most people, so it kind of depends what you mean…
  • lol...well, they say black is slimming...maybe it's cuz it's sized differently
  • mmmm...new potatoes...with butter and dill. Can't wait until the new potatoes are ready here. That said, I don't eat potatoes often anymore. One of the reasons I started this journey is I was showing insulin resistance, so I try to avoid the high GI carbs. I'm not into complete deprivation however, so I do treat myself to…
  • Wow, you look fabulous
  • I've read NROLFW and Strong Curves as well as the SL 5x5 sites.....all good reading. I started with SL 5x5 and incorporate some NROLFW and Strong Curves suggestions. Most days I do my 5x5 lifts and then do a superset of other things from NROLFW, Strong Curves, and things taught to me by the trainer I used initially.
  • You look fabulous. I'm 5'2" and am about halfway to my goal of losing 75lb, so you give me a rough idea of how I'll turn out =) Thanks for that.
  • I don't know how changing the plan will make anything different. You overeat when your boyfriend is home. That's about choice, not the particular plan or diet you are on. Allow yourself some treats when he is home, but manage the thinking that you should keep overeating because you have already. You're making progress, so…
  • Well, I can't speak for Linda and the rest of the world, but I know I wasn't healthy at my starting size and I feel a lot better now than I did then. I'm sure it will sell a lot of copies to people who want an excuse the maintain their status quo.
  • I think you're underestimating your food. Regardless, 1lb per week is plenty good for what you need to lose.
  • Never heard of it before. Seems like too much work for me. I need my coffee in 3 mins or less in the morning. I even rob from the Bunn pot that takes less than 5 min to brew. Sorry, I don't have an alternative aside from plain old coffee.
  • I think there's a point where it should slow down. As you get closer to goal, you shouldn't expect 2lbs per week. Less than that will still be progress.
  • Fabulous!! I bought some new work pants this week at size 8, too. Like you, I haven't worn an 8 in adulthood....I don't think I've worn an 8 since birth. It's very exciting! Happy for you.
