I'm kind of boring and rushed cuz I work out in the morning before work...doesn't leave much time for exciting breakfast things, so my staples for mornings and snacks are protein bars (I like Detour bars and some of the Quest bars), boiled eggs, peanut butter, cheese, 1% cottage cheese (actually higher protein than 2%),…

Weigh yourself at the same time of day, every time you weigh for the sake of consistency. I like first thing in the morning when I get out of the shower.

I drink an extra glass of water and my 40+ post children bladder does the same job :D

Yep, have made it a habit since last spring and that helps now that it's dark and -40 when I head out the door at 445am. I also remind myself how much quieter the gym is that time of day and I like having the weight area almost to myself.

Mostly, I lift. When I got rolling, I wanted to maintain muscle mass, so I took up strength training. I started with Stronglifts 5x5 for the simplicity of it, but have more recently started to expand my efforts. I've kept the big lifts, but have also added assistance work. I do yoga twice a week and I walk....everyday with…

So sorry for your loss. We lost a son to a car accident 10 years ago. There are no timelines on grief. It never goes away, but it generally does get easier to manage over time. I concur that getting a physical workup to rule out thyroid, etc is a good idea. When my hypothyroid was diagnosed I was super tired, couldn't stay…

It took me 6 months to lose the first 60lbs of the 75ish I have to lose. The first couple months were the biggest drops and mostly water weight, I suspect. After that I leveled off to about a lb-1.5 lb per week average, though not linear...one week it might be .8 and the next week 2lb and another week nothing followed by a…

K, I see. My gym is 24 hours and staffed, so it makes more sense to me if you're all alone and late and someone is giving you creepy eye.

Hope your husband didn't smoke near you or half the commenters on this thread would throat punch you and then rip you a new one if you got within 5 yards of them apparently... ;)
-
Why not? The two things are not mutually exclusive.

You carry pepper spray with you in a gym on a treadmill? I don't sense sarcasm, but I'm really hoping this is sarcasm.

Thank goodness some reasonable people finally chimed in. The first couple pages I was starting to worry how anyone functioned in the world with all the "rules". I'm huge on personal space...you may not live if you try to hug me and I work in an occupation where arms length is strictly enforced, but it never occurred to me…

I didn't know that about under 1000 not posting. Learned something today

Set your protein higher and carbs lower. I tend to be more hungry on days I eat more carbs than protein. Today, for example, I had a small subway turkey sub for lunch and was starving by supper.

If you've got nothing against artificial sweetener yoplait source greek only has 3g of sugar. I like the vanilla ones..... or there's Yoplait source with Stevia that has 6g sugar if you prefer Stevia.

Absolutely. I've got bones everywhere I've never seen before. I do a lot of squats, but I'm still adjusting to less butt padding.

I just got back today after ear infections and a couple rounds of antibiotics that kicked me down. Felt good to get back after the couple weeks. I had to giggle at myself how bummed I was missing out on the gym...a year ago I would have given lemon face to anyone who suggested I might like working out :)

Welcome. 2lbs per week is possible, but a bit ambitious without sacrificing muscle at your point, especially if you want to lift and strengthen. I'm just slightly below your weight and only a smidge taller and I don't think I could function in the weight pit at the calorie count required if I was looking for 2lbs per week.…
-
It bumps everything up with your higher calorie count. If you don't want to eat more sugar, just don't. Just b/c it says you can have more doesn't mean you have to
-
First, I think you can eat far more than 1200. I'm much shorter and lost weight at more calories than that. Do you have your settings at 2lb per week? Bump it to 1lb per week and you should get more calories. 1lb at your needs should be plenty. That said. pasta and rice add up in calories quickly. Start making more veggies…

Veggies are your friend in reducing calories. They're pretty much the lowest calorie thing going and give you lots of bulk to stay full. They're also good for you. There must be some veggies out there you can tolerate. Aside from that...turkey breast. It's one of the lowest calorie proteins, but there's only so much turkey…

I've pretty much leveled out now, but last spring and summer it seemed I was always "undergrowing" my clothes. It got pretty hard on the pocketbook to try to keep up with new ones, so I frequented thrift stores and clearance racks.

you are not doomed. I've been on thyroid medication for over 20 years. If you're regulated and make an effort, you can lose weight. I never lost any in 20 years because I never tried. In the last year trying I've lost about 67 pounds. I didn't do anything different because of my hypothyroid. I did reduce carbs because of…

I don't really. Just curious why what other people choose to do bothers you so much. and this

So...you care why?

I eat PB most days, but a lot of my other protein comes from lean meats like turkey or chicken, so that helps. However, I don't worry too much about going over my fat macro if I'm eating mostly good fats...I try to limit my carbs for personal health reasons, so my fat and protein have to be higher. If I go over my fat once…

I've never been to a PF and probably wouldn't cuz I DL, but why would you care if someone wants to spend time in a "relaxation zone". Does it affect your work-out? For the record, my gym has a few massage chairs...I like to show up for yoga 10 min early and sit in them. I get deep tissue massages 1/month, but I also like…

Good job. Keep at it

I've pretty much subbed out all my breads and pastas. The exception is some whole grain toast to go with my peanut butter some mornings before I go to the gym. I cook more veggies or have salads with my meals instead of pasta, potatoes, or rice. Salads and raw veggies are easy to prepare and carry for lunches. On my lazy…

I believe your body needs fuel when fighting a bug. I don't track or log when I'm sick. I eat what I want for a few days and don't worry about it....soup,tea, and ginger ale are my cold and flu go to foods.
