I had my surgery in India and my nutritionist there wanted me to go Vegetarian (not true vegan I know). But I like meat, even if it is small amounts so I chose not to go that way. However the diet sheet she gave me has lots of nuts, fruits, vegetables, cereals etc. They are not as focused on VSG protein needs in India as…

I am 7 weeks out and have lost 43 lbs all up, including a few pounds pre-op loss. I hit a stall for nearly two weeks which was frustrating. Remember most people lose weight after any surgery and that is what we all did. When I had my gall bladder removed I lost 7 kilos straight away,,,of course it all piled back on and…

I don't feel the cold any differently. But I remember the struggle of sort of feeling hungry at first,,,but it was more the stomach acid triggering my mind into thinking I was hungry. I wasn't of course but I struggled with the sensation. That definitely has changed. I feel hungry when I am now. But I have learned that…

haha I guess our bodies use the little that we put into it now. It does make sense but also reminds me how much I must have overeaten in the past to go every day.

Thanks guys. I will try both ideas. Appreciate your responses.

I was scared of a few different things. I had typical surgery fears about the risks. I was scared I would fail once the sleeve was done. I guess I was scared to hope too much. Lower my expectations, can't be as disappointed. I am not sure I was scared of regretting it, just failing. BUT,,no regrets at all. My weight is…

Celery sounds great too.

I have to admit I am only 5 weeks out but I am finding my sleeve an amazing tool. I am still fighting head hunger as my head is still working out portion size to satisfy but no matter what I serve up, I can only eat a small amount and feel very very satisfied. As much as I try to eat I struggle to reach 500 calories per…

I am nearing 5 weeks out and I have realised the difference between what I thought were constant hunger pangs and my stomach acid gurgling away. I explained to my husband that it was like when you haven't eaten all day and you actually get past the really hungry stage and have that gurgly feeling in your tummy. I have…

Wow, out of all of my travels I found the Thai's are the most respectful. I never feel out of place or different there. Other parts of Asia and the West I am always made to feel awful about my weight but never in Thailand. I am sorry you had this experience.

Well done. I am struggling to get 40 gms protein in each day alongside water. Well done. I too am intrigued by the variation in post op diets. I was on just clear liquids for 1 week. Full liquids for the next week. Pureed then anything from 1 month out. Which is now.

I am struggling to get much down in the way of protein shakes each day so my dietician has advised to buy albumen powder for my food. Could not find it locally but managed to find a good one online. So just waiting for that to arrive and hopefully I will finally meet protein requirements. Fish and ground beef or ground…

Oh and the total cost for the procedure and hospital stay etc Au$4200 (225,000 rupees). Of course you have to add flights and a little bit of pre/post med costs as you would anywhere but they are minimal. A short hotel stay until the ok to go home is given.

It will be amazing for you. Just remember the first few days are the hardest and it just gets better from there. Good luck.

I am back on some shakes but yes something savoury always breaks the boredom. Managing a little beef or pork mince and fish. Really upped my liquid intake by adding a little extremely low joule cordial. Not as ideal as plain water but it has increased my liquids 3 fold each day which I can really feel the benefit from…

Thanks everyone. My proteins and water are definitely lacking. However today I managed to sip for a half hour on a 200ml protein shake,,a whole 125 calories. But I am finding increasing my water, which I am trying hard to do, leaves little desire to eat. I am now up to about 1 litre of water per day and trying to increase.…

Good luck. When is your surgery? It seems we all react differently, there is no absolutes. My experience over the last 2 weeks since surgery has been amazing and frustrating at the same time. New life, new behaviours but without a doubt the sleeve is making my choices much much easier. I finally arrived back in Australia…

I am 6 days post - op and it was pretty rough for a few days there. Vomiting for 2 days which was agony but then it settled. I stayed in 4 nights which was scheduled anyway. The stomach contractions are the most painful but they have subsided a lot now. Today was the first time I felt up to going anywhere for more than 5…
