I have reached my penultimate goal today.
Overweight at last. Final goal, healthy BMI range and staying there. I have two months until my 1 year anniversary, so fingers crossed.

A photo to share
This is my husband and I at our daughter wedding on Saturday. I had the surgery in March before she became engaged so my surgery was not because of the wedding. But boy am I so glad it all coincided. However the BMI scale says I am still obese. Will be happy when that finally changes.

Are they my legs?
Does anyone else sometimes feel that parts of their body they can see without a mirror, such as their legs or forearms are not in actuality theirs? Sometimes I just stare at them and think " They cannot be mine. They're too alien to me. The shape is all wrong".

Measurements : for those at the beginning of this journey.
I made the mistake of not measuring. But in hindsight it would have helped me through perceived stalls so much better to have done so early on. I am 9 months out and 118 pound down but the last 6 weeks have been reasonably slow compared to previous months. However it seems I jumped a clothes size. I didn't just go down 1…

Interesting little page about what we call 'stalls'. Worth a read I felt.

Those old carb cravings are haunting me
It is really hard in SE Asia to find anything sugar free or low carb. And of course everything comes with rice. There was coke zero but I was happy with water 99.9% of the time or coffee so this was not really a comfort to me. I struggled to get any sweeteners or low fat milk which I have in my coffee. So although I tried…

Feeling very restricted in my stomach right now.
Hoping others have experienced this. I am 7 months out and have not experienced many issues physically until now. Today and yesterday I noticed that I feel very full after eating my meal. Not quite the same as the normal feeling of full with a VSG. The type of full that makes you think the food is sitting in your…

Going to be in SE Asia next week. Food choices?
I know on holiday I will be non stop but I'd like to not get carb addicted on rice dishes a day after day and have to fight it when I get home. Just wondering if anyone here has travelled to a similar cuisine area (as in lots of rice dishes)? What did you do? Can you think of different choices you made instead? I am so…

A little you tube video on 10 things to expect after your sleeve. Quite amusing.
I don't know if anyone knows the girl in this video but I found this an enjoyable little video and could relate to most of what she was talking about. Maybe some of the pre-op folk might like to have a little loo if they haven't already seen it. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gIW52dpbMfM

Exercise database accuracy?
Does anybody else wonder if the calories burned are accurate on some of the exercise options on the database? We know it will vary with individuals of course but I have to shake my head sometimes. If I walk at 9 min per km (walking 7 km/h) for 60 min, I seem to burn the same calories as other options at 3mph for 60 min…

Scales clicked over to 100lb down at last.
It was a teasing month but today that scale just decided today was the day. Crossing fingers it doesn't throw me back into the 90's tomorrow.

Little fat bumps under the skin?
Hoping others can explain this a little to me. After the first few months po I noticed the little bumps under the skin on my thighs. I assume they are fat. As I have lost more weight I am noticing them on previously high fat areas like legs, arms, abdomen. Wondering if they ever really go cos they're not very nice to feel.

Calories struggle again.
Has anyone else found they are struggling with too low calorie intake 5-6 months out? I have been getting my 7-800 for a few months but I am having to make a massive effort to reach 600 again. I don't feel unwell, no activity changes. Just no room for more food.

5 months today and ready to share with the world.
Today I decided to share my sleeve story with my facebook friends. I just felt it was time as it was my 5 month post surgery day. I posted a pre surgery photo and a today photo along with an explanation of the surgery and my journey. Until now it was my family and anyone who saw me and asked, I must say I have had an…

The power of this forum
My GP and surgeons all use the average wls data for the first year then the second year etc. So they all told me I could expect to lose 30-50% of my excess weight in the first twelve months and 60-90% in the twelve months following (so by 2 years out) I am confused by this. Most folk on here have left that far behind. I…

When to increase calories?
I am nearing 5 months out and have stuck to under 800 calories. For the first two months I was lucky to get in 500 per day. However I noticed people increase intake as time goes by. So just wondering what every bodies procedures were and were they successful for you?

I am going to a concert!!
This Saturday I am going with an old friend to a concert (80s band). I am actually really looking forward to it. (My husband doesn't like the band so is not going). My friend has not seen me since before surgery and has no idea about my weight loss. He will be really amazed even though I still have a way to go. I know we…

Stalls and the mind game.
Well I have just hit stall number 3. Had a big loss week just before it. First few days,,,oh just another little stall,,no biggie. But at just on a week now my head is playing mind games. First no changes, then up a pound (ish),,,then no changes. I know it will be fine,,,but I am getting impatient. Does anyone else…

BODY FAT SCAN PICTURE UPLOADED
For those who are interested, I have uploaded a photo of the body fat scan I had done just after surgery. You can see the yellow fat tissue, the red muscles and blue bones. Remembering that there would be a lot of internal fat around the organs pushing the muscles outwards,,,this is still a very very small me inside of the…

An extra tool that helped me mentally
VEG was scary but the best decision I have ever made. However a week after surgery my endocrinologist sent me for a full body fat density scan. That was so shocking for me to view. The scan shows the real you inside all that adipose tissue. I could not believe that the real me was so small. I had not seen her for so long I…

Fitbit bands?
I have read on here several times about people using fitbit bands. Can someone tell me more about them? :flowerforyou:

Determining your food diary limits?
How did you all work out your food diary limits? So I know 80 for protein and I have 800 calories for energy but how did you work out the rest like carbs, fats?

New motivation to get fit
One of the reasons I chose to have a sleeve was that I love to travel in SE Asia. Sometimes it can be warm and accepting and other times it has been very hard to be a big person in a generally slim society. The irony of this is that my first trip to India was horrid. My second trip to India was for the sleeve. India hurt…

Who else got chocolates for Mothers Day?
Both of my sons presented me with lovely big boxes of chocolates for Mothers Day. Clearly an old habit I need to help them break. Of course I haven't touched them but had to wonder what my sons thought I had been up to the last few months.

Just watched my 600lb life.
Can't describe the feelings that hit me when I watched this show about Christina. She is so young. I feel so fortunate to have been able to have my sleeve. I had a rapid weight increase between 2000-2003,,then things crept up. But my suffering was for only about a decade really, from 33-44 (now). I can't imagine what it…

So glad I am VSG
I checked out the rest of the forum for the first time and WOW,, they know how to have a go at each other. I realised that being VSG maybe we are not as grumpy. I remember being a dieter without VSG. It was a tough struggle. No wonder they are all so grumpy. But hey forums should be supportive like this one. I have only…

Venison??
I have been researching protein sources and Venison seems to come up trumps in protein and low fat and not insane calories. I have never eaten Venison but I am willing to try it. My stomach might just cope. Does anyone have any good VSG suitable recipes that include Venison?

Anyone use amino acids?
I am still struggling to get proteins in. I am lucky if I am reaching 20 never mind 80gm per day. Has anyone used an amino acid supplement instead of relying on protein from food? I like meat, really I do but my stomach doesn't really appreciate it as much as it used to. My shakes are like evil concoctions to me now as…

Do you ever feel guilty?
I have noticed that I feel guilty that when I eat I feel full. When I was dieting in the past, I rarely got to feel full. So when I cheated on previous diets and ate enough to feel full,,I would feel guilty of course. I have just had a boiled egg and feel plenty full but I also feel like I am doing something sneaky. Mind…
