Maybe it's all about what you are calling it. Try saying "I'm redirecting my energy toward something I will enjoy more." And remember, if you are going to "redirect", do it soon, before the team starts competing and losing you would screw up the plan. As a mom, I did not let my kids quit any sports once the games had…

I really like logging, because I like to see when I make good choices, how much sodium is in a food, etc. BUT, I do not plan to log forever. I just don't know when I will stop. Does that make sense??

I go back and forth between 2 PF's, never seen that sign. I happen to love PF, the price is right, so I can go once or twice a week and feel like I am getting a lot of bang for my buck. If I miss a week, big deal. I don't really like classes, so it works for me.

I don't think quitting makes you weak. I think admitting you have bitten off more than you can chew (BEFORE unpleasant circumstances occur) is a sign of maturity. After all, you are in college to take courses, learn, get a degree - the rowing thing was a "for fun" part of it. Unless you are headed to the Olympics? So I say…

I'm stuck too! I'm down to only wanting to drop the last 5 lbs, but they love me and don't want to go, haha! I do Bikram yoga 1xweek, elliptical 2x week, and then jog 1x week, weights 2x week. My daily calorie allowance is 1305, and I always eat what I burn, and I drink lots of water. I can't remember the last time the…

Thanks everyone!

The finance talk went well, we did not discuss health or weight except that he is going to cancel his gym membership because he does not use it, and join a different gym that is closer and hopefully more what he wants in a gym. I told him I want him to move out, not because I don't want him there anymore, but because I…

WOW! I had planned to comment on every reply, but there are so many, I will never be able to! Thank you ALL for your words! I am a firm believer in having a PLAN - a goal without a plan is just a dream. The PLAN for the finance talk tonight was supposed to be he would give me his account info and password and I would make…

Thank you for the blunt comments! I know, he needs to want it. Another family member once replied to a well meaning relative (not me), "I have a mirror. I have a scale. I know how I look. I know what I weigh. I do not need you to remind me." I think I have my answer, which is I won't say anything. He knows I love him; I…

It would be great to hike or bike with him, except he always says no. :-( I guess once you are 22 it is not cool to go for a bike ride with Mom.

Yes, he goes out and buys crap to eat because I won't buy it. He will buy a huge order of buffalo wings, tell me it is for 2 meals, then eat it in one sitting in front of the tv. I am supposed to sit down with him tonite and go over finances (he isn't paying his bills on time!) and I was thinking of broaching the subject…

LOL, love your post, I had to give my husband his own coat closet! The rest of the family (4 of us) have to share the other coat closet. Too funny!

This post caught my eye because I am trying to declutter as well. Sorry, I don't have any tips to offer, except DON'T GIVE UP! DON'T LET THE CLUTTER WIN!!! LOL, and off I go to Pinterest to see what others are doing!!!

I usually respond with "I'm not losing, I'm toning and keeping my body healthy." Who knows, maybe you will inspire someone to start eating healthier and working out?!?!

Howdy from Burlington, MA, yes, where the mall is! Add me if you like.

Welcome Newbie! We were all newbies once! Hope you find this site as encouraging and motivating as I do. Feel free to add me as a friend! Burlington, Massachusetts here, mostly maintaining, but I've got 3-5 lbs that could get lost permanently. Have a great day!! April

That was a great video!

I hear you! Motivation can be elusive. When I first started, I would write out my goal for the week: the first week, it was just "Do SOMETHING every day". Even now, I try to at least check in with MFP and say "Hey" even if I don't log food or do anything. Keeps me in the loop. Feel free to add me as a friend if you like.…

Hello! Good for you in your journey here at MFP! There are certainly ways to use everyday items in place of "real" weights at the house. A gallon of water weighs about 8.5 pounds, and has a handle built right in! Do some bicep curls, overhead pushes - anything you can do with hand weights you should be able to do with a…

We had just moved into a new house with a fireplace, and so I got a log and some sticks from the yard and decided to make a fire. I had never had a fireplace before, so the word "damper" was not in my vocubulary! Well, it got going pretty good, but then the living room started to fill with smoke. Because I am an…

Good for you! Great start! agree with all the others posting - be sure to take a "rest" day - but nothing says you can't do some sort of a physical activity instead of the gym. (I take a lot of "rest" days where I do yard work, etc.) You CAN have the treats you love, but they should now be in a "treat" sized portion! I…

My license says I am 5'3", but I'm probably closer to 5'2", and my goal weight is 125. I have a lot of muscle mass, and I don't really pay too much attention to the numbers except to keep me on track (I usually hover between 128 and 132) That last 4-5 pounds are killer to get off! :-0

What is HIIT?
-
Oops, ok, I guess I mean "Hiking with Altitude" as opposed to attitude (I can have that too though!) - not rock climbing.

Hi! Sending you a friend request! I have been on MFP for about 10 months, it is AWESOME and everyone here is VERY supportive! Have you tried searching through the members to find people with similar goals as you? You can go to "Find Members" and filter, then contact people you think might have similar goals to you, or…

As long as you are sure that your portion sizes are correct, believe!

Haha - big fan of the Dummy books! (They should just say for REGULAR people!) Olympic - sounds long! I would try to find a training partner, helps keep you on track.
-
LOL, no, it will make you STRONGER! A book I highly recommend is "Triathlon Training for Dummies" - gives you some great training tips! My sister and I did a "sprint" triathlon, women only. It was 3/4 mile swim (she found this the hardest part), 12 mile bike (I had trouble with this one), then 3.5 mile run (we jogged). Our…

Hi! Your post cracked me up! Here is me: 10. Born and raised in Massachusetts 9. Married 26 years to a great guy 8. 3 big kids, 23, 21, and 17 7. Work in the pupil transportation field ( that would be school bus industry!) 6. Was at my heaviest when pregnant with my son - I started refusing to get on the scale at the dr.…
