Hi, Mirena is an IUD which is supposed to have local hormonal(intrauterine) effects only. But there have been reports of weight gain. When I got mine my obgyn told me about some of her pts who gained weight or were unable to lose. They subsequently got it removed. My ogyn herself had it but she said for her mood swings…
