@Avidkeo , @ContraryMaryMary Miles for Dennis link - I have asked a few other runners ( they probably haven't read my previous post yet ) then realized that you are the closest to Carol ( @Orphia ) for TimeZone - Would one of you be able to pick-up that 2 hour block hours 5 & 6 between Carol and @HonuNui. This would have…

@noblsheep , @Scott6255 , @garygse , @LaDispute57 Miles for Dennis - Would one of you be able to pick-up that 2 hour block hours 5 & 6 between Carol and @HonuNui . I have put myself in for the 3 hour gap after @HonuNui which has me starting at 2300 local time - running in the dark like an Ultra Runner. It's a good thing I…

@Avidkeo I don't know - it sounds like there were other people who had time corrections also. She is down in the Phoenix, Arizona area right now doing some R&R plus mountain biking with friends so I won't see her for at least another 2 weeks. So wish I had done a screen shot of it when it showed the 3:27:27. I have done…

9.4 km up Pats Creek Trail tonight, forgot my watch at home so ran old school - by feel. Nailed it. Its about a 200m climb over 4.7 km so a constant grind. A very cold evening with wind funnelling down the valley and I was underdressed in a long sleeve tech shirt, no gloves, no coat-windbreaker. Only 3 of us out tonight as…

I think every runner says the same thing - I'm not ready for a HM. Big River Crossing HM - November 3, 2018. Which basically gives you another 3+ weeks for training with minimum taper. Cutting it a little close but probably doable. Since you already manage 10km regularly I have to ask: What is the longest distance that you…

That Hurt. 1750m and it's probably really going to hurt tomorrow. warm up 50m Free, Kick & Pull 2x @15 SRI ; 2 x 50m Streamline Kick 2 x 50m Finger drag 2 x 50m Fist 2 x 50m Shark Board 2 x 100m Free Concentrated on right arm pull as it's wandering around - somewhere between a J and S type pull. On the positive my…

Yay the pool is open again. 1000m Dog paddling with 6 - 8 people per lane yesterday - it was a very slow swim as there were so many people that I was forced into the slower lane as the other lanes were jammed. Adult Swim Club starts tonight so that promises to be interesting since I have only had 4-5 swim days since July 1.

I think we all have a story like the two above. To me it's an indication that they haven't been involved in a group run - or training with a group where you reach out and support a fellow runner when they are going through a low point. I have also experienced the opposite where a runner catch's up to me and helped drag me…

To all my Texas MFPer's if you see these guys give a shout out. They are friends of mine from town. https://www.facebook.com/jamiemcdonald.org/posts/2007246422630823

For those who ever have a struggle - whether in sports, or general every day life I drop this which I copied from a ladies post in a local FB Running Group. It’s just a run. It doesn’t matter how far or how hard...it’s just a run. One foot in front of the other. No matter how fast or how quick...it is just you challenging…

Maybe some salt, garlic butter and a hot pan :# :# The Kea Parrot from the South Island is dangerous to vehicles and luggage-lunch. A perfect fit for this group. @emmab0902 Our local pool just opened after a month long maintenance cycle - the water is a little cold for recreational swimming in, a hard training swim is okay…

Making up or I call it Adjusting the schedule to fit life and existing running abilities is very common and I think anyone with a few training cycles completed should be capable of handling it. Someday's you dial it back - other days you ramp up. I love the term Fishing - because that's exactly what I do. Start out easy to…

If you can get onto the the stadium pick a set of stairs and do some repeats - up/down x 2 and slowly increase the reps. Not something you do every day but a few times a month. Adds to the variety of exercises and builds leg strength-endurance.

@emmab0902 You have 2 NZ neighbors in this group now, @Avidkeo and @ContraryMaryMary

@MegaMooseEsq I am a lot further north than most in this group ( we have had snow already) and we have quite a few local runners who re-purpose Bike Jackets for winter running. The benefit is a longer body on the back ( designed to prevent Tire Splash covering your butt in moisture/mud) Zippered Side vents and a rear vent…

@AprilRN10 Didn't realize you were already getting good support from the family, Like you say it's temporary, which in itself is a life lesson for your daughter.
-
@AprilRN10 Great comments from @PastorVincent in trying to support your studies and family balance. The two I keyed on were simpler meals and getting the kids and SO to take on some chores, Laundry and cleaning their rooms should be the first. Then they need to take on some cooking. Show them a meal plan for the week (…

Monthly question. 1) With holiday's coming up and the return of cooler or warmer weather. What's your strategy mitigating the particular challenges you face these last few months of the year? The swimming pool re-opens this morning after a month long maintenance cycle so I join the adult swim club ( Tues and Thurs ) - not…

@shanaber I can retire in 5 years with a 70% pension from my present employer and with the pension I have on hold from my previous employer it would give me close to 100% income and zero employment taxes - ie Canada Pension Plan, Unemployment insurance, Pension deductions etc. Also I would be in a slightly lower tax…

To get back to a civilized work - life balance. Sticking with my 140km goal (87 miles) as that is a realistic minimum to be in a constant HM ready state. Also the local pool reopens after its yearly maintenance cycle so will be back in Adult Swim club which is minimum 2 nights a week. Will lose a few days as my brother…

Our Pool re-opens on Monday - I expect it to be a madhouse of lane swimmers getting their Fix. I plan on being one of them. Now just to remember how to swim and breath

10.5 km - West Hill from Tims. All I can say is I struggled right from the first step. A tale of 2 runs - uphill to the 5km turn and then downhill back to the start. Made the right decision to call it and turn at the 5k mark. Tomorrows another day. To many travel days with work this summer = not enough running. Have had 10…

@RicciDarlene I hope we didn't scare you away with our jest about 204 mile run. @RunsOnEspresso It is.

@kgirlhart Happy anniversaries! An accidental Double/Double - so go have a coffee to celebrate. @RunRachelleRun Wishing for a quick recovery! Bows in awe B) :p o:) and then track work. Looks like @AlphaHowls has some competition. @sarahthes, @RunRachelleRun and @RunsOnEspresso - I have some Black KT Tape - that is reserved…

@Lizzypb88 When I started running a 1/2 mile was a major accomplishment. Now I avg 100 - 140km / month. A few years ago had a torn calf injury. I used the structure of C25K and B210K as rehab and rebuilding of my pre-injury abilities. Having the structured program can help guide you forward and prevent re-injury, which…

@polskagirl01 Great advice from @MobyCarp When I tore my calf muscle I basically used a C210K plan as my recovery-retrain gauge. Mainly because it was structured - not some random roll of a dice. Well I actually started with C25K but I was able to run/walk a 5k after my 2nd week so bumped up to the 10k plan and just did…
