Usually our pool does their Major Maintenance in September - when usage is down by 40% - Summer swim lessons are over, Schools have not started to book Swim periods and general usage is down due to the transition of the public to some other summers end activities - football, soccer, baseball etc. This year the specialized…

Back in the pool last night. 1km with 3 swimmers in the lane. Every lane was loaded up with swimmers. 250m x 4 Since I was the slowest swimmer in the lane out of respect to the other 2 swimmers I did a bit more lane keeping than them to ensure that I wasn't holding them up. Usually the faster swimmer would catch me every 6…

Impressive - how many hours did that take? Our pool opened just as I was about to go on vacation. Yea for chlorine fix's. So in late July I managed to get in 3 times in the 1st week it was open before vacation started. You know that feeling when you have a chest cold and you start coughing hard until your Ribs/Abdominal…

@eleanorhawkins I like that idea of asking PV's wife - hopefully a charity that has an international reach - it can create a paperwork - tax nightmare as I learned in the past. Spent more time chasing secondary confirmation documentation than any other part of my tax's. @Scott6255 it's gone now, I still had an old link and…

@jeanettesolis46 I don't make meal plan - diet suggestions but rather point to a few good reads that have helped many. Well worth Bookmarking these to keep them as a quick resource. https://community.myfitnesspal.com/en/discussion/1080242/a-guide-to-get-you-started-on-your-path-to-sexypants/p1…

Glad to see there is a gang still recommending this to those in need of a little guidance and support. Thanks to @SideSteel and @Sarauk2sf for so many great post's and links.

They have re-opened ours for Private Lessons = $55.00/hr for a private lesson or Common Household Rentals - ie Family under one roof $200.00/hr" now I just need to adopt 19 kids so I can cut it to $10.00/hr which is still pretty steep.

Probably another 4-6 months before the pool will open = Grumpy swimmer

@sugaraddict4321 new form of Spam hitting the Friend Request's, might be from Hacked accounts. Personally I call it Spam Porn - due to the type of profile pictures that are being used. Getting multiple - repeat requests and other friends have reported the same type of request. I wonder if this user profile was hacked - due…

My pool re-opened but you have to book a private swim lesson $20.00/45mins. Essentially the pool is closed since that's out of the budget range in a hurry.

@skippygirlsmom Glad to hear that the stitches have come out. I hope that it's one of the new Plastic Walking cast's that you can remove - allowing you to get a good soak in a Tub or Shower without the old double Plastic Garbage Bag trick to keep the cast dry. One of the ladies in our little club had a similar break to her…

Swimming Pool Closed due to covid restrictions Gyms Closed Running outside NOPE We be to cold especially when you add in the windchill.

@rheddmobile Ice Lash's - not ice beards. A few photo's of some fellow runners at an un-official gathering/event.

And we are still closed. I think they are rather over whelmed with everything else they now need to micro-manage so had to make a hard decision on some facilities and the pool with it's multiple change rooms was the hardest to manage, clean and create isolation zones. Plus they probably got hit with a big increase in 2nd…

I understand this. Running - no IRL events Swimming - Pool still closed Infections increasing so not going to be any events for a while. So many gorgeous photo's. In the north country all the leaves have dropped and we have the first skiff of snow already. Been out scouting some new/old trails that need some maintenance -…

Still Lurking around. Recovering from a sprained hip, the 2nd worst injury I have ever had. 2020 the year that keeps on giving. 1 - Calf Strain 2 - PF round 1 3 - PF round 2 4 - Cracked - Bruised Tailbone ( hurts to sit, stand or laydown - not many options left ) 5 - Sprained Hip. Between Tropical storms, Hurricanes and…

Hats - I'm blonde - blue eyed - not quite albino but can get a sunburn on top of my full summer tan. 30+ SPF for me. So yes to hats because you don't want a burnt scalp or a bright red peeling face. I have 6-7 summer hats so they cycle from the clean stash to the laundry. I have 2 from MEC that look similar to the one…

Wasn't online very much in May but managed to finish out the month with 129.76 km. With all the events cancelled one of the local race coordinator hosted a virtual event with 2 distances - 91km or 191 - a play on Covid19. On to June and a new virtual event which is based on an event at a local ski hill = 419m elevation. So…

Welcome back @_nikkiwolf_ and @Mari33a! @Avidkeo Nasty running badges and I agree there should be one Garmin set point that transitions everything. As others have said we are a varied group, have fun. @mbaker566 Nailed it with your " i'm still not a fast runner. just a steady, stubborn runner " 11 km with our Social…

@eleanorhawkins Every time I read one of your HAL is happy with me comments I think of this version of HAL

@ContraryMaryMary WOW! 45 minutes - I'm impressed! Me and skipping have a hate relationship. I always lose the timing and the rope ends up wrapped around my feet. @eleanorhawkins As others have mentions - Your Hal relationship has gotten out of hand. LOL. Although it sounds like it may have encouraged @Avidkeo to get out…

Like so many others our pool also closed in mid March, so thats ends the Adult Swim club. I was registered for a Bronze medallion Life saver course and that is all cancelled. Some of the small community pools that are only open in the summer probably won't open this year since they can't get the Life guards re-certified…

@quilteryoyo & @PastorVincent I know some people who are shopping for others and they place a Telephone order to the store in the persons name and then it's a simple pickup at customer service. We have one store that has a drive through window for food from their deli/kitchen which they have converted into a pickup window…

@shanaber We went through that about 3 weeks ago, then people start to realize that their squirrel pile of food is getting way to big and things get back to normal - or close to normal if you exclude sanitizers and TP. After seeing the mad buying that occurs before/after natural disasters ( Hurricane/Tornadoes) I think…

@Avidkeo Any Ranble is a good Ramble. Can you run from Home to Work ( Work to Home ) and call it your way of commuting to/from the Hospital? Be glad that NZ Gov't took the step of going into lock down. Any place that was slow implementing it ie New York/New Jersey/Montreal all have high case loads and can expect the…

@PastorVincent I am with @Camaramandy648 on this - BQ and then go. As a Pastor maybe there is a Theological College or Church/Abbey that has Visitor Accommodations that you can use for a few days to cut costs. As a wise man once said - if you don't ask they can't say yes. The first HM is always very memorable, go out and…

@dcresider Welcome to the Group and YES it definitely Helps. Although the use of the word crazy in this context is usually taken as a compliment by most runners, not as a negative stereotype of someone who might be suffering from Mental Illness, because to be brutally honest most of us have some type of issue. We have more…
