  • Hi just to update. Was too ill to get any training days in and had a temp the day before so nearly pulled out. But I coughed my way around today in 2hr 23, so managed to complete it albeit slowly.
  • Many thanks for your replies. I feel that I have the base training to complete the event. I've completed several 10-12 mile long runs in training and have run a half before. I'm just worried about how to get myself back on track with this cough. I feel like I could run tonight but am worried about making my chest worse. On…
  • First run of the month 2/5 3 mile outside total = 3 miles
  • Hi  I'm Cath. I'm 35, live in the UK, work full time and have two young children (one at nursery the eldest in reception class), which leaves me with lots of spare time!. I took up running in Jan 2013 as I wanted to get fitter and for my kids to grow up seeing that exercising is the norm. My first race was a half…
  • Please count me in. I'm aiming for 80 miles.
  • Good luck with your HM! I understand where you are coming from in that you want to see improvement but maybe if you took a little pressure off yourself it would help? I'm doing my second HM in a couple of weeks. My first came in under 2hr30 and I'd like to beat it. But I am also aware that this new HM is considered hilly…
  • I'm another fan of new balance shoes. I'm a severe over pronator and find their style for this really comfortable.
  • For me - for a short run just water. For a longer run (anything over an hour) then a slice of toast with peanut butter and a coffee beforehand. I can't make it much past the hour point unless I've eaten beforehand. For a long run (1h45 plus) I'll also take a gel on the run.
  • What? Purines are part of genetic makeup and are broken down to uric acid as part of our cell recycling. Many foods contain purines, with purines being more concentrated in things like sardines, anchovies and liver. Spinach has much lower levels of purines than these foods. Purines are needed in our diet and uric acid for…
  • Hi I'm far from an expert having just started tracking in the last couple of weeks myself. If you've lost 9lb over a month this seems like a good level of weight loss, so if you are happy and do not feel like eating back all your exercise calories then keep doing what you are doing as you seem to be doing great! If you'd…

  • Hi I've just joined MFP. I run three to four times a week, currently in training for a half marathon in May. I also usually do some form of strength training such as e.g. a Les Mills Bodypump class and I try to do at a Bodybalance class once a week for flexibility. Feel free to add me if you would like.
  • I'm wondered if I have measured right because I got (37:36:36) yet I'm a UK size 12 and whilst I'm definitely a apple type (no hips) I can see a waist which is much smaller than my bust. Going to remeasure tonight! I'm 5ft5 and 144lb Where do you measure your waist across your belly button?
  • Looks like I'm the only one who weighs with my clothes on then! I know it can add a pound or two but I figure that it is what I move around during the day and that's what others would record my weight as l'm unlikely to strip when others record my weight!
