oop that was supposed to read a lb of muscle weighs more than a lb of fat* but you get the gist of what I'm sayin' right? =)
-
Agreed! Digital scales have too many bugs in 'em. I agree, go for once a week, preferably in the a.m. same time every week (my day's Mondays) and get those ole' school needle ones. Also the measurements tell more of the story since a lb of muscle earned weighs more than a muscle of fat but looks way slimmer and better. Go…

You gots this! Sheer determination and a plan... I'm with you!
-
I do but I try to do so by adding more protein as it's what my working muscles need it. =)

I agree completely! Sounds dangerous. Healthy sugar is fine... your body needs it to convert to fuel. Here's an animation that can help shed some light on the subject. Or if in doubt just google "why does my body need sugar?" Always inform before you preform ;)…

Way to go! I'm always looking to add friends for motivation. FR sent =)

Feel free to add me as well. I am Christian too =)

Hiya, mine are 1440 and I believe my diaries' open :) feel free to add

pardon me, I guess I misread the other posts... I thought your name was Erin. :P oops WELCOME!
-
Welcome Erin! I think once you start on a lifestyle change you're happy about and that you've been gearing up for so long you'll find much about yourself you never thought was there or possible. You're giving yourself an opportunity for growth and to explore the things that work and do not work for you. I am excited for…

I agree with the other posts. Now you have a basic idea of how many calories things have. Now you have guidelines of what foods work for you and which ones don't. Now you're able to indulge IN MODERATION with the foods you love but know are high in bad calories (processed foods, baked goods, etc). It's nice that you're at…

I really offer you all my support and hope you find something that works for you. That's key to starting a new healthy lifestyle. Try not to have the "put all your eggs in one basket" mentality and think that this gym is the answer to all your problems. If it doesn't work out (they're pushy and not what you expected or…

I just joined a couple weeks ago and already see the benefits of having friends to offer encouragement. I am active and welcome anyone to add me. I've added you =)

Hi Robyn, Welcome! I'm a newbie here as well (fr. BC Canada). Sorry to hear of what you've had to endure, but I'm very proud of you and what you've accomplished. Having to deal with the passing of your mum must have been unbearable. It's completely understandable that you had to go into a "survival mode" all these years as…

I'm not certain if it pertains to you, but keep in mind that it's also a matter of if you have more to lose, essentially you start burning more faster and more easily. I've heard of people who even mention just cutting 1 sugary, high in fat food or drink (like soda) and all of a sudden the lbs are melting off. It's also…

Sounds like you're on the right track... so far so good. I agree with the other posts...remember to never stinge out on your protein, especially when working out. And ensure you're not starving by the time you do get around to eating (like what I'm guilty of :P 'tis not good for the ole' metabolism). Feel free to add me…

Anyone, everyone: free to add me as well... Good luck on your goal! =)

What about those physical games? Wii and whatnot? Those should satisfy both your gaming want and your getting up and running about without even noticing (distracting yourself out of knowing you're muscles are getting worked out). Drink plenty of fluids and stretch and cool down stretch, very important.... honestly working…

WOW! I can't believe that was in 10 months! You've made amazing progress! Good on you!

Starting by hitting the ground running is not always recommended... the skill level of that exercises you're doing have to be built up to...not started with. Start upping your cardio, stamina, agility, etc. with more beginner type moves. Pilates and light cardio (jump rope) can help build you up. Also remember to stretch…

Feel free to add me... we can all use more motivation. :)

Feel free to add me... I too am looking for motivational buddies. I just joined but so far I'm on here everyday. Good luck on your goal! :D
-
I second the pilates and using resistance bands for weight training is great. Not much you can do for cardio without being able to jump around other than investing in equipment (elliptical, stationary bike) =)
-
Hi keepitcutee, I too agree that extra motivation and "watchful eyes" to help one feel accountable helps. I'll be your buddy... you watch my back and visa versa :)
-
I'm new here too... feel free to add me. We can all use the support =)

Your thyroid is definitely the reason. Not to mention that eating too little can also slow down your metabolism and hoards any fat thinking it needs to store it for later as it thinks it's in starvation mode (not enough food available for you to survive). Definitely talk to a doc about your thyroid deficiency and ask how…

hi Tnyakhan, and welcome! I just joined today as well and so far I'm feeling pretty optimistic :) I agree with you that weight training will make the difference that you're seeking. Before I would only stick to cardio, pilates and hiking as my main source of exercise and never really saw the results I sought after. It was…

I'm a newbie too. Feel free to add me as well. Support goes a long way. =)

I think the things we get addicted to are "instant gratification" type things that give us pleasure and send us a hit of endorphins (feel good / reward hormone). Setting a plan, being passionate, inspiration etc. help with a long term goal, however they're not the only thing that sustain it. Having someone who supports…
